Real Madrid news: Antonio Conte issues Jose Mourinho demand to replace Julen Lopetegui - Duration: 2:49.

Real Madrid have been linked with both Conte and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho following their decision to part with Julen Lopetegui on Monday

Lopetegui lasted just 10 La Liga matches at the Bernabeu and his head rolled following a chastening 5-1 El Clasico defeat to Barcelona

Real Madrid have installed Santiago Solari as manager on an interim basis while they ponder their next move

Solari's era began positively last night with a 4-0 thumping of Melilla in the Copa del Rey

Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Alvaro Odriozola and Cristo Ramon Gonzalez Perez all found the net

Despite that win, though, Real Madrid want an established coach to bring them back to the La Liga summit

And Ok Diario have revealed that Conte has issued a major demand to take over. It is claimed the Italian wants total control of the club's affairs - something only Mourinho has been afforded

Even Zinedine Zidane, who won three consecutive Champions League titles, had little say in personnel

He never wanted Thibaut Courtois; he preferred Keylor Navas. He also insisted on Benzema staying despite the forward being on the wane

Ok Diario add that Conte also wants more than a two-year contract. And those demands, it seems, have seen him ruled out of the running

Another manager linked with the Real job is Roberto Martinez. And Andy Gray has backed that appointment

"It makes perfect sense to me," Gray told beIN SPORTS. "If there's not a huge, dynamic character out there that they can go to

"Roberto Martinez, as Real Madrid are concerned he's Spanish for a start. Perfect language, can go in there, bang - hit the ground running

"He's got the feeling that he's the best coach in the world."

Barcelona news: Suarez, Coutinho and Alba make La Liga Team of the Month based on stats - Duration: 2:02.

Barcelona endured a slow start to the season but really hit their stride in October, recording two wins and a draw in their three matches

A 1-1 stalemate against Valencia was followed by a 4-2 victory over fellow table-toppers Sevilla before a thumping 5-1 win in El Clasico

Luis Suarez's hat-trick against Real Madrid proved the final straw for Los Blancos, who sacked manager Julen Lopetegui in the aftermath of the crushing defeat

Suarez's performances over the past few weeks have seen him achieve an average match rating of 8

38 from WhoScored.com, easily placing him in the La Liga Team of the Month. The Uruguayan ranked top across the division for goals, assists, shots and Man of the Match awards after three superb individuals displays

Suarez has been joined in the elite XI by Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, who scored against both Sevilla and Real Madrid

Marauding left-back Jordi Alba is also included with an average rating of 7.46, despite Ernesto Valverde's side failing to keep a clean sheet in the league during October

Elsewhere, Deportivo Alaves and Levante both have players in the Team of the Month after recording three wins from three (including victories over Real Madrid) – but who else makes the cut?
