What's up, guys?

Justin here for Complex News.

After years of being absent from Hot 97's studios due to his proximity to a 2005 shooting

incident, 50 Cent returned to the radio station's main building this week for an interview with

Ebro, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez.

One of the sit-down's most revealing moments came when Ebro asked if 50 had spoken to Floyd

Mayweather since Mayweather's defeat of Conor McGregor.

50 said that that Money Mayweather had indeed been in touch.

But when Rosenberg implied that the two fighters, despite their very public antagonism, actually

really liked each other, Fif' begged to differ.

The rapper also revealed that Mayweather tried

to bet a significant amount of money on himself.

The

G-Unit general also shared his thoughts on everyone's favorite topic, Cardi B's "Bodak

Yellow" hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

He said that her success proves that Love & Hip Hop has gone from what he described

as a "graveyard" to a viable way to make a career—or, more likely than not, more than

one.

But what really brought 50 to the radio station was his new variety show on BET, 50 Central.

He said that the show would feature, in his words, "a lot of cool sketch comedy."

But one thing it would not feature is many jokes about the current president.

His reasoning?

He doesn't want to copy what Saturday Night Live has already done so well.

That doesn't mean Curtis Jackson is shying away from politics, though.

During the interview, he shared his thoughts on Trump—basically that our current Commander-in-Chief

ended up in his job due to a ratings ploy gone wrong.

For more of 50's musings—about Power, Jay Z's 4:44, and much more, you can find the

whole interview on Hot 97's YouTube page.

Reds star Philippe Coutinho brilliant goal v Spartak Moscow | Liverpool FC News Now | #LFC - Skills - Duration: 1:51.

LIVERPOOL star Philippe Coutinho scored a sensational goal in the Champions League last

night showing he may just have put his Barcelona troubles behind him.

The Brazilian was the subject of several mega-money bids from the La Liga giants over the summer

but never made the move after the Reds rejected every approach.

And he hasn't let the speculation over his future dictate his football, scoring a brilliant

free-kick on his first start of the season against Leicester at the weekend.

The 25-year-old continued his red-hot form with an equally special goal against Spartak

Moscow.

With the Reds trailing Spartak 1-0 in the first half, Coutinho played a quick one-two

with Sadio Mane.

He was then played in behind the Russian side's defence and smashed the ball over the keeper

into the back of the net.

Fans watching the moment were full of praise for their returning midfielder.

"Coutinho-Mane link-up play is one of the most beautiful things to watch on this planet,"

one commented.

Another added: "Hatred with Coutinho ended, now he is my new best friend."

And a third wrote: "That goal by Coutinho was class tho."

(News)Why Emma Stone movie will have you shaking your head - Duration: 6:43.

The battle is on.

Why Emma Stone movie will have you shaking your head

An exhibition game between then-29-year-old King (played by Emma Stone) and former champion 55-year-old Riggs (Steve Carell), it was watched by some 90 million Americans on TV while 30,000 people packed into the Huston Astrodome.

It wasn't just a game of tennis. Oh no, it was about so much more than that.

At stake was the credibility of women's tennis and, by extension, all of women's liberation. It was termed "Battle of the Sexes" — a provocative title then, and provocative still in 2017.

King has been credited as a pioneer of promoting women's tennis, opening the front in a war the Williams sisters are still fighting today.

King is a big reason why tennis is the leading sport in which female athletes are just as popular and respected as their male counterparts. King has spent her entire adult life fighting for gender equality, and later for LGBTIQ rights.

The film tracks King and Gladys Heldman (Sarah Silverman) establishing the Women's Tennis Association after female players were being offered an eighth of the prize money of the men by the patriarchal establishment, here symbolised within Jack Kramer (Bill Pullman).

Sisters are doing it for themselves. Picture: Melinda Sue Gordon/Fox Searchlight Pictures via APSource:AP. A chronic gambler and a self-proclaimed "chauvinist pig", Riggs was a showman forever pulling stunts to stay relevant and in the game.

Though there's something to be said for his fight for better prize money and pay for the seniors' circuit. The other story here is King's blossoming relationship with Marilyn (Andrea Riseborough), a woman she meets at the beginning of the movie.

The love story is the B plot of Battle of the Sexes and it has an almost seductive quality to it, at first.

But it kind of stays at the surface level and it certainly doesn't hint at the acrimonious public spectacle the lovers will face a few years down the track.

Much of the personal conflict is seeded in the looming presence of King rival Margaret Court (Jessica McNamee), who's always in the corner of the frame, looking on and judging.

Court is an easy target to represent the anti-LGBTIQ sentiment of the era but it also oversimplifies a complex situation. The story strands concerning King's sexuality remain unsatisfactory, incomplete, but it does tap into the main problem with Battle of the Sexes.

It's a film that needs to wrap together several concerns into its overarching feminist manifesto and it just didn't have the time to deal with everything properly. Consequently, it feels like some steps were skipped over.

Riggs' characterisation, especially the relationship with his son, is another aspect that feels underserviced.

Battle of the Sexes is a reunion for Stone and Carell who'd previously played father and daughter in Crazy, Stupid Love and they've both imbued a lot of vulnerability into real-life characters known for their strength or bravado.

It's also a reunion between Carell and directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the husband-and-wife team behind Little Miss Sunshine and the Zoe Kazan-penned Ruby Sparks.

While Battle of the Sexes doesn't have the surprising humanity of Little Miss Sunshine nor the quirky, singular spirit of Ruby Sparks, it is still an enjoyable biopic with a strong voice.

What we'll remember the movie for is how much the struggles of 1973 still resonate today.

The thing about consuming screen culture in the first year of the bombastic Trump presidency is you can't help but see the parallels on TV and in movies — the different ways King and Riggs approached their training had a definite Clinton/Trump ring to it.

It's a lot of meaty stuff for artists and creatives to mine. Of course, Battle of the Sexes was written and filmed before that fateful November day.

Which means the parallels evident is more of an indictment on the social paradigm that elected him, more than on the man himself.

It would've been nice if we could've watched Battle of the Sexes and laughed at the boys' club talking about how women are just biologically inferior and unable to handle the pressure.

How quaint, we could've said, throwing our heads back in mirth. You're more likely to shake your head in despair.

Because the reality of today, more than 40 years later, is that those views are still being aired by some, Google douchebags among them, as "fact" to excuse why women are still being paid less.

What a chilling reminder that we haven't come as far we thought. Battle of the Sexes is in cinemas from Thursday, September 28. Follow @wenleima on Twitter for geek-outs about movies and TV.

VOA news Sep 27, 2017 - Duration: 4:59.

From Washington, this is VOA news.

Hello, I'm Steve Miller.

President Donald Trump says the United States is totally prepared for a military option

in dealing with North Korea, while his administration announced new sanctions in response to the

country's nuclear and missile activity.

"We are totally prepared for the second option, not a preferred option, but if we take that

option it will be devastating, I can tell you that -- devastating for North Korea.

That's called the military option.

If we have to take it, we will."

The new sanctions are imposed on eight North Korean banks and 26 banks' executives.

The restrictions come as the top U.S. general says North Korea now poses "the greatest threat"

to the United States today.

Saudi Arabia says it will allow women to drive for the first time in the ultra-conservative

kingdom.

Until the announcement, the kingdom was the only country in the world to bar women from

driving and for years had garnered negative publicity internationally for detaining women

who defied the ban.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert called it "a great step in the right direction"

for that country.

"So I think we're just happy today with the steps that they are taking, and I think that

that is a very positive sign."

The decree will take effect [on] in June 2018.

Iraq's Kurds held a non-binding vote on Monday in support for independence from Iraq despite

the heavy opposition from Baghdad as well as neighboring Turkey and Iran.

The president of Iraq's Kurdish region has claimed victory for the "yes" vote in a referendum

on support for independence.

Baghdad has rejected the vote as unconstitutional and is staunchly opposed to redrawing any

of its borders.

Iraq has threatened to ban flights into the Kurdish region if it does not turn over control

of airports to federal authorities by Friday.

This is VOA news.

A terrorist outfit in Pakistan has been soliciting donations for Rohingya Muslims.

Ayesha Tanzeem has the story.

People in Pakistan's city Rawalpindi received leaflets inside some newspapers Monday.

The two-sided pieces of paper requested donations to feed the Rohingya in Bangladesh refugee

camps.

The appeal came from Jamaat ud Dawa, a group on the United Nations list of terrorist organizations.

A spokesman for the group, Abdul Rahman, said they had a large operation in Bangladesh.

"Right now, we are feeding 63,000 people daily on the shores of River Naf," he said.

While VOA could not independently verify the statement, a Bangladeshi journalist, Ali Ahsan,

called it "fake news."

Ahsan, who has been to the area to cover Rohingya issues, said he would have heard if anyone

had such a large scale aid operation.

Ayesha Tanzeem, VOA news, Islamabad.

Protesters took to the streets in Kenya outside the country's electoral board.

Jill Craig explains.

The sounds of police firing tear gas and protesters in retreat filled the air outside Kenya's

electoral commission Tuesday, as demonstrators attempted in several waves to get close to

the building before police dispersed them.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has called for regular protests in order to pressure

the electoral commission, or IEBC, officials to resign.

The Supreme Court recently gave its full explanation for why it nullified the August elections.

Although it did not hold individuals responsible, the court blamed the commission.

Kenya's constitution dictates new polls must be held within 60 days of the ruling.

The new date of October 26 falls just five days shy of that deadline.

The ruling party has remained steadfast that this timeline be followed, and has rejected

the idea of changing the commissioners.

Many people are just hoping the politicians can sort out their issues before triggering

a constitutional crisis.

Jill Craig, VOA news, Nairobi.

Venezuela's opposition said it will not join scheduled talks with President Nicholás Maduro's

government, undercutting a dialogue effort that has been viewed with suspicion by many

adversaries of the ruling Socialist Party.

The government has eagerly promoted the talks amid global criticism that Maduro is turning

the country into a dictatorship.

There is a general sense on the streets of San Juan that U.S. President Donald Trump

is out of touch with the crisis in hurricane-hit Puerto Rico.

However, the U.S. government will cover 100 percent of the cost of debris removal and

other emergency assistance to Puerto Rico.

Trump also announced the measure on Tuesday as part of an amendment to his earlier disaster

declaration authorizing federal aid.

From the Washington news center, I'm Steve Miller.

That's the latest world news from VOA.
