In this video we will show how to change strings on a guitar
If they are old or broken we will show how to change them in 5 steps.
Step 1. Get the strings out of their wrap and sort them.
In case the are individually wrapped there is no need for sorting
Some brands use color coding for easier identification.
Step 2. Remove string to replace.
Its better to loosen the string and later untie the knot
Its recommended to do it one by one to avoid excessive stress on the arm due to the sudden tension change.
We then untie also on the guitar head.
Step 3. Remove the old string and insert the new one.
Lower/Thicker strings (4,5,6) have a one softer end.
It helps for making the knot.
We identify this end and make the knot on the bridge.
2 turns are enough to keep it in place.
Step 4. Now we fix the string on the head winding. There are multiple knot types.
they all work but is important to choose one that tightens the string
crossing over itself, this will help to avoid it get detuned.
Step 5, Optionally we can tune the strings as we are replacing them, could be slower
But is easier because we have the other strings as reference for tunning
Remember that once they are replaced they will lose tuning very fast.
You will need to tune them multiple times before the reach their final length.
And that's it, we repeat the same for each string we need to replace and we are done.
