Ricki-Lee Coulter and former band mate Paulini Curuenavuli.
'It was the elephant in the room'
The pop group, originally made up of former Australian Idol stars Paulini Curuenavuli, Kate DeAraugo, Emily Williams (later replaced by Jessica Mauboy) and Ricki-Lee Coulter, was formed in 2005 and disbanded three years later.
They've all had varying degrees of career success since then, but lately, Curuenavuli and DeAurugo have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
DeAraugo is currently facing up to 15 years in jail on drugs and weapons charges, after allegedly being found in possession of a "trafficable quantity of the drug methamphetamine, [or ice], a large knife, and a tomahawk".
She was also allegedly driving under the influence of drugs at the time.
Meanwhile, Curuenavuli — who currently stars in hit musical The Bodyguard — pleaded guilty earlier this month to bribing an RMS employee with $850 for a fake license, which allowed her to drive illegally on NSW roads for a year, during which time she racked up 11 driving offences.
The original Young Divas line-up was short-lived. The troubling events led Hit 105's Stav, Abby & Matt with Osher to ask Coulter during their interview on Wednesday morning: "What's happened with the Young Divas?!".
Coulter laughed when Curuenavuli's chequered driving past was brought up, adding that she'd "never been in the car with her, thank God.
"We did the Young Divas in 2005 — it was a very long time ago, and we were never driving ourselves anywhere," she explained.
The pair hadn't seen each other for some time, so Coulter admitted it was a bit awkward when they "ran into each other" last week.
"I didn't bring it [the charges] up — it was the elephant in the room," she told the radio hosts. "But in my head I was like 'heyyyyy!'.
Despite the legal drama, Coulter insisted Curuenavuli seemed to be in a good place. "She was happy and fine and normal," she said, before bizarrely adding: "She looks thin, she looks great.
