Liverpool Transfer News: £175m spree, Palmieri talks report, late business claim - Duration: 3:37.

Liverpool Transfer News: £175m spree, Palmieri talks report, late business claim

The Kop could spend £175m on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Virgil Van Dijk and Thomas Lemar today. That's according to The Times' Paul Joyce, who says the Reds remain adamant Philippe Coutinho will not be allowed to join Barcelona.

Liverpool have splashed the cash on Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson this summer, while a deal has been sorted for RB Leipzig ace Naby Keita to link up with them next year.

Jurgen Klopp is not ready to rest on his laurels as his side prepare to make a return to Champions League group stage action though.

And he's apparently hoping owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) can secure three more signings before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline.

Joyce says Oxlade-Chamberlain has agreed a five-year, £120,000-a-week contract with Liverpool. The report also says Liverpool are prepared to pay £70m to snare wantaway Southampton star Van Dijk.

And Liverpool are willing to stump up £70m-plus for Monaco wideman Lemar. Klopp is also reportedly ready to raid Roma for Emerson Palmieri. The 23-year-old left-back has emerged as a target for Jurgen Klopp in the dying embers of this transfer window.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool are in talks with Roma over a deal. Palmieri - currently sidelined with a knee injury - reportedly fancies the switch to Anfield.

Despite being out of action until October, Liverpool are set to table an offer. Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb claim a £19.3m (€21m) bid is ready to be launched.

With all that in mind the Kop are hoping to be the stars of transfer deadline day.

And Phil McNulty thinks something big could happen in Liverpool today. He told BBC Sport: "It will be a hectic day on Merseyside with both Everton and Liverpool expecting to do some very significant late business.

"The biggest movers of the day could be Liverpool, who will sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal and will surely await one last opening to sign their top summer target, Southamptons Virgil van Dijk.

"Liverpool also retain an interest in Monacos Thomas Lemar on what could be a pivotal day for manager Jurgen Klopp. "So it could be a day to fasten the seat belts on Merseyside.".

Liverpool Transfer News: Van Dijk and Lemar updates, Vazquez to replace Coutinho claim - Duration: 2:37.

Liverpool Transfer News: Van Dijk and Lemar updates, Vazquez to replace Coutinho claim

Liverpool are unlikely to sign Thomas Lemar or Virgil van Dijk before the transfer deadline passes tonight. The Reds have had a busy summer, adding the likes of Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andy Robertson to their ranks.

They have also agreed a deal for Naby Keita who will move from RB Leipzig to Anfield next summer.

But the Liverpool Echo claim long-term interest in both Van Dijk and Lemar will not end in success before the 11pm deadline. Jurgen Klopp was keen on Lemar but it appears Arsenal have trumped the Reds with a €100m bid.

And any deal is further complicated by the fact the Monaco star is on international duty with France and is set to play against Holland tonight.

Meanwhile, Southampton are confident of holding onto Van Dijk, despite the centre-back handing in a transfer request. The Holland ace is also training on his own away from his team-mates at St Mary's.

Liverpool are also preparing a late swoop for Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez to replace Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian has been chased by the Catalan club ever since they sold Neymar to Paris St-Germain.

However, Liverpool bigwigs are determined not to sell Coutinho and have snubbed several bids. Spanish news outlet Diario Gol reckon the Reds are eyeing a replacement if they eventually do sell and Vazquez could fit the bill.

The Spain international is only a fringe player at the Bernabeu and Zinedine Zidane might be tempted to let him go. The 26-year-old is a product of the Real academy having progressed through their youth ranks and into the first-team.
