Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho reveals what he really thinks about transfer frustration - Duration: 3:02.Manchester United failed to really strengthen this summer despite finishing 19 points behind Manchester City in the Premier League last term
United signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant despite Mourinho wanted another centre back and a winger
Mourinho made his feelings clear during the window admitting they would struggle without new recruits after failing to land Toby Alderweirled and Harry Maguire
But Mourinho insists he has now put a line underneath it and wants to improve the players he has
Speaking to Sky Sports he said: "We were speaking about one extra body, it's not like we were unhappy because we wanted six or seven more players and they didn't come
"It was one player and when the transfer window came to an end, I put a cross on it and said immediately I don't want to talk about it or speak about what we did or could do
"It's about what we have and what we did and trying to improve the team in the best way we can
" United beat Leicester 2-1 in the opening game of the new season and face Brighton on the south coast this afternoon
Six points would be a positive start after the perceived turmoil at the club this summer
The transfer window was a disappointment, the pre-season tour was dreadful and there is believed to be unhappiness in the dressing room with both Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba angling for moves
Martial's agent spoke out earlier in the summer about wanting to move on but United quickly decided he would be staying unless they could sign Willian or Ivan Perisic
And Pogba remains despite interest from Barcelona, who have accepted they will not get him this summer but will return with a bid next year
Mourinho stresses that he is happy with Pogba after he captained the side to victory last week after just three days of training following the World Cup
"I have never been so happy with as I am now," he said. "My job is players performing, playing for the team and playing for the fans and that's what Paul did against Leicester
"I couldn't be happier and I have to say - I am not saying for me, I am saying for him - that it is totally untrue that we had a problem during the week
