Hello and welcome to this Universem video series

regarding an essential part of your digital strategy;

user experience, or 'UX'.

I'm joined today by Thomas, the UX designer

who helped develop the app MyShopi.

So, Thomas, can you explain the term 'user experience'?

This interface between man and machine, or usability.

Of course! First, thanks for having me.

So, to explain the term 'user experience' in my own words,

I'd say it's a nice mix between the user's journey

and the feelings and emotions they feel when using a product, service or object.

To illustrate that with a practical example,

I'll take two banking apps, on a smartphone.

The first one, I use a lot. It works well, no complaints.

The second, I use a little less

simply because it doesn't let me do certain things.

It's difficult to input payees or I need a calculator to do certain tasks,

so I like it less.

That could be a simple example of a user experience problem.

Just as an example.

So the user feels some frustration with a bank app

when they have difficulty performing certain tasks.

Might you have another example of user satisfaction?

Yes, let's take another tangible example: a kitchen.

Everyone has a kitchen.

Imagine you have a kitchen delivered,

you assemble it, open the overhead unit,

and realise there's an extra detail.

There's a space for tidying away the little spice jars

that you use every day for meals, and it's built into the overhead unit door.

So that addresses a real problem because spice jars eat up shelf space

and we've resolved that problem through design,

thus creating a good user experience.

Thanks, Thomas, for explaining user experience.

It's basically the satisfaction or frustration a user might feel

when using your product, service or even your website.

We'll be discussing that next week,

as we dig deeper into the impact of user experience on conversion.

Can a user experience facilitate your conversions?

See you next week!

Barranca de Huentitan y Puente de Arcediano - Duration: 3:31.

I'm in the canyon of Huentitán again. Right now, by chance, I found the

main entrance on foot, and there are many very interesting hiking trails to

exercise in. There is a kind of funicular railway where many

climb for exercise, although it is prohibited. It really is an exceptional

place for fitness training. There are many people from different places.

You meet people who like the nature, who like to exercise,

and this place is phenomenal, really. I'm here with my friend Abou from Cirque

du Soleil, and we came to explore the Barranca de Huentitán and it is

incredible...the rise... and the descent.

We have reached the middle of the road, and it's like it gets a little easier.

Arriving at the base there is still several kilometers to get the

Arcediano Bridge, which was the destination I had on this expedition, thanks to

a comment by Luis Rodríguez on my previous video about the canyon.

On the way we found an incredible waterfall that you can appreciate in

the images that I am showing you now.

I'm at Puente Arcediano Díaz. I do not know if you'll hear me with so much noise from the river,

but it's a beautiful place and I wanted share video of the bridge and

also of the canyon. The descent to the base of the canyon is

relatively easy, although the stones on the road make it necessary

to use good boots. Sneakers could be too slippery.

The route is about 6 kilometers in each direction and in many of the turns

there are stones painted with a number from 1 to 64. They count the curves that are left

to go. The earlier you arrive, the less sun and heat

you will feel. Do not make the mistake of going without breakfast, like me, or worse, not to take

enough water, also like me. Carry at least 2 liters of water per person and energy bars

or something like that in case you need it when you go up. Just be

careful to leave only footprints and take only your memories.

On the way you will see the crosses that memorialize people, who although they had

done the tour before, they did not know measure considerable physical exertion

what needs to be done to get back to start, and died there. In my case my lack of

preparation made me get sunstroke and a fever. I recommend you plan it very well

With everything it is an unforgettable experience.

that I recommend very much I hope some day they can go. Until then,

Keep flying high! Bye.

UniverSharing | UX to boost your conversion rate - Duration: 2:41.

Hello and welcome to this second Universem clip about user experience.

Last week, Thomas used two great examples,

to explain 'user experience'.

Today, we're going to focus on the heart of Universem's trade,

optimising websites,

because a good user experience of a website

can have a direct impact on conversions, right, Thomas?

Yes, indeed. You raise a very interesting and important point.

Conversions, or the link between conversions and user experience

is very important!

I'll use two practical examples again to illustrate this.

Imagine somebody visits a website,

an online store, or e-commerce, for the first time,

and they want to add items to their basket.

They add them, fine, go to the check-out

and, as they're about to convert or purchase the product,

they're asked for a VISA card, but can't provide one.

No other solutions are offered, they get stuck,

and instead of converting, they use a competitor

who can offer Bancontact or other solutions.

That's an example of a bad user experience.

So you must guide the user

and steer them all the way to the point of purchase,

at which point, you must offer solutions!

Would you like to pay by Bancontact, Mastercard, or PayPal, for example?

So those are some alternatives that will lead them

to the point of conversion and purchase of the product.

That's a good example of a good user experience.

So when the user uses the product, they'll be satisfied with the process,

and when you're satisfied, you tend to tell others.

And when you tell people, they get curious

and may use the product, too,

thus expanding the service or product's audience.

And expanding the audience means potentially increasing conversions, too.

So, clearly user experience can have an impact on your conversions.

But beyond conversions, there are consequences

that may arise from a negative user experience.

And we'll discuss that in next week's video.

So see you next week!
