Nemanja Matic began the summer as Manchester Uniteds third choice central midfield target, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Chelsea midfielder is on the verge of moving to Old Trafford for £40 million, but Jose Mourinho had wanted to sign either Eric Dier or Radja Nainggolan ahead of Matic.

A lack of movement over either of those deals has now led him to reuniting with a player he coached at Stamford Bridge.

CHELSEA CONSIDER VITOLO SWOOP. Chelsea are considering an approach for Sevilla's versatile attacker Vitolo, according to the Daily Mirror.

Vitolo, who has a release clause of €35 million (£30. 8m), can play on the wing or further forward and is an option to add depth to Antonio Conte's squad.

MATIC NEARS MAN UTD MOVE. Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic is on the verge of joining Manchester United in a £40m deal, according to The Guardian.

Jose Mourinho signed the Serbian in 2014 while managing Chelsea, and is now set to bring the 28-year-old to Old Trafford.  The two clubs have already agreed a transfer fee and Matic has agreed personal terms with United.

AKE CLOSE TO £20M CHELSEA EXIT. Bournemouth are closing in on a £20million deal to sign Chelsea defender Nathan Ake on a permanent basis, according to The Sun.

Ake, who has also been linked with Southampton and West Ham, spent the first half of last season on loan with the Cherries.

The Daily Echo reports that Bournemouth have 'as good a chance as any other club' of completing a deal for Ake.

AZPILICUETA IN ALEX SANDRO DEAL. Chelsea are prepared to offer Juventus Cesar Azpilicueta in part-exchange for Alex Sandro if a cash offer is not enough, reports Calciomercato.

The Blues are looking to do a €70 million deal for the Brazilian full-back, but Juve will only sanction a move if the player asks to leave.

ALEX SANDRO TO BE ALLOWED TO JOIN CHELSEA. Juventus will allow Alex Sandro to join Chelsea if he asks to do so, according to the Metro.

The Italian club signed Sandro for £22 million just two years ago, but the Blues have tabled a bid worth £61m as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his defence.

And Juve are now ready to let Sandro leave the club if he requests a transfer, as the saga appears to near a conclusion.

BAKAYOKO TO HAVE CHELSEA MEDICAL. Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to undergo a medical at Chelsea next week, according to the Evening Standard.

The Blues will apparently pay a £35.1 million fee and are prepared to offer him a five-year contract. As a result that is likely to speed up the exit of Nemanja Matic, who has been linked with Manchester United.

CHELSEA TO SELL REMY FOR CUT-PRICE FEE. Chelsea are happy to allow striker Loic Remy to leave for a reduced fee, according to The Sun.

The French striker joined the Blues from QPR back in 2014 but has struggled for game time and spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Crystal Palace.

NO UTD AGREEMENT FOR MATIC. Manchester United have dismissed claims that Nemanja Matic has agreed personal terms at Old Trafford, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Reports had claimed the Chelsea midfielder was close to reuniting with former manager Jose Mourinho, but they have been refuted by the Red Devils.

DEMBELE WANTS DORTMUND EXIT.

Ousmane Dembele wants to leave Borussia Dortmund following the sacking of manager Thomas Tuchel, according to Eurosport. The France international does not want to join Barcelona, however, with Chelsea and Manchester United both now on alert as to his availability.

CHELSEA CLOSE IN ON VAN DIJK. Chelsea are closing in on Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk, according to Sky Italia, in a deal worth around £60 million to the South Coast club.

The 25-year-old previously looked set to join Liverpool before the Reds were forced to pull out of the deal, leaving the door open for Antonio Conte to make his move.

Manchester City are also thought to be in the chase, though a big-money deal taking the Netherlands international to Stamford Bridge is making progress.

ALEXIS IMPACT ON LEWY. Robert Lewandowskis future at Bayern Munich will be directly influenced by the German clubs pursuit of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, claims The Sun.

The Polish striker is unhappy at the terms being discussed for the Chile international and news that he could be looking to move on has alerted Manchester United and Chelsea.

CHELSEA TO SIGN £35M BAKAYOKO.

Chelsea are close to signing Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco for £35 million, The Daily Mail claims. The 22-year-old midfielder was a key player in Monacos Ligue 1 winning season, earning admiration from Antonio Conte who made him a top target.

The move could lead to Nemanja Matic departing, with the 28-year-old interested in a move to Manchester United.

ATLETICO & CHELSEA IN COSTA TALKS. Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have started talks over a £50 million deal for Diego Costa to return to the Liga club, the Mirror reports.

However, as Atletico are under a transfer ban, Costa would spend the first half of the season out on loan before being available to play for Diego Simeone's side at the start of 2018.

CHELSEA EYE LEWANDOWSKI MOVE.

Chelsea will make a sensational move for Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski, according to a report from the Mirror. The Poland international scored 30 league goals for the Bundesliga champions last season but is said to be frustrated with life at the Allianz Arena.

Lewandowski has recently hit out at his Roten team-mates for not doing enough to allow him to become the Bundesligas top scorer, an accolade Borussia Dortmunds Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang claimed with 31 goals last term.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is ready to take advantage of Lewandowskis situation and sign him as the focal point to his attack in place of the departing Diego Costa.

ZOUMA SET FOR LOAN MOVE. Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is set to spend next season out on loan, with Lyon and Nice interested in the France international, according to the Evening Standard.

However, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte won't let Zouma go until he has brought in a replacement, with Juventus' Leonardo Bonucci and Southampton's Virgil van Dijk prime targets.

CHELSEA TURN TO MAHREZ. Chelsea are monitoring Riyad Mahrezs situation as Antonio Conte looks to add attacking talent to his squad, according to the  Evening Standard.

The Algeria international has asked to leave Leicester City, and though Arsenal and Monaco have been linked with his signature, Conte is hopeful he may be able to steal in and get his man.

TRAORE ON CHELSEAS RADAR. Chelsea remain interested in Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore, according to  Sport. The Blues were linked with the former Barcelona man during the January transfer window and are still keen with Boro willing to sell the 21-year-old.

Matic is one of the options Mourinho is considering for the defensive midfield role at Old Trafford and the Serbian reportedly feels he is no longer wanted by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

CHELSEA JOIN DANI ALVES CHASE. Manchester City could face competition from Chelsea in their bid to sign Juventus right-back Dani Alves, according to Sky in Italy.

Alves enjoyed an impressive first season at Juventus, but could be on the move with City boss Pep Guardiola keen to boost his full-back options. Chelsea are also now reportedly exploring a deal for the Brazilian.

CHELSEA AGREE LUKAKU DEAL.

Chelsea have agreed a £150,000-a-week deal to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the club from Everton, according to the Daily Star. With the Belgium international still the Blues top target, they will not be pursuing Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
