MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to sell keeper Sam Johnstone to Garry Monks Middlesbrough in a £2. Johnstone is down the pecking order at Old Trafford and keen to play first-team football after a successful season on loan at Aston Villa.
Sam Johnstone played with Aston Villa on loan last season – and he could be back in the Championship with Middlesbrough.
Boro are in talks to agree a fee and wages for Johnstone as Monk is losing both of his senior keepers Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan.
Johnstone has top Championship experience and would be the number one as Monk puts together a new look defence.
United will let Johnstone leave for the right money as they have plenty of options in the department and he has stayed loyal down the years despite other interest.
Meanwhile SunSport has reported that the Teessiders have slapped a £25million price tag on defender Ben Gibson with a string of Premier League clubs lined up to snatch him away.
