Man Utd News: Ibrahimovic new deal, Blind fears being sold, Martial given another chance
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to enter talks with United boss Jose Mourinho about extending his stay at Old Trafford. The 36-year-old recently returned to the first-team squad following seven months out with a cruciate ligament injury he suffered in April.
The Swede scored 28 goals during his debut season at United and was due to leave during the summer, but the club handed him a year's extension as they offered support during his rehabilitation.
Ibrahimovic was thought to be planning on seeing out his current deal before heading to America to finish his career in MLS.
But according to the Sun, the striker will meet Mourinho for discussions in the new year about staying beyond the summer, with the pair promising one another absolute transparency.
The former PSG star reportedly harbours ambitions to add the Premier League title to his long list of honours and it is unlikely that will happen this season, with rivals Manchester City appearing to be running away with it.
Utility man Daley Blind believes he could be sold by the club next summer. Contract negotiations have not yet got underway, which has led to concerns from the versatile Dutchman that his time at Old Trafford may be nearing its conclusion.
Manchester United are expected to trigger the one-year option they have on Blind's contract, which would then expire in the summer of 2019. But the motive behind that move is to ensure that the club receive a fee for the 27-year-old.
Anthony Martial has changed Mourinho's transfer plans at Manchester United. Mourinho, who is keen to spend big again in January and next summer, was expected to return for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, Antoine Griezmann or Ivan Perisic.
However, according to the Independent, Mourinho has altered his transfer plans due to Martial. The France international's form has made the Special One have a rethink about his targets.
Mourinho is now willing to stick with Martial and give the winger more game time at Old Trafford.
