Walking on air! Snowboarder Billy Morgan wins bronze at Winter Olympics making it Team GB's most successful Winter Games ever

British snowboard sensation Billy Morgan landed two huge jumps in the Big Air event to win bronze and make Pyeongchang Team GB's most successful Winter Games ever.

The 28-year-old maverick had the audience – including Ivanka Trump – on the edge of their seats as he sailed through the air in his third and final jump making a 'double grab' of his board before a perfect landing.

The veteran snowboarder pumped the air with his fist and gave a huge sigh of relief as he waited to see if his combined score of 168 was enough to propel him onto the podium.

'I can't believe it,' Morgan told the BBC. 'I didn't think I'd make the podium and I was just stoked to make the final.

'I just wanted to put a show down and I was worried after the first jump that I wasn't going to land anything but managed to land my next two jumps and walked away with a medal.

Olympic medal: British snowboard sensation Billy Morgan won bronze in the Big Air event .

Morgan said: 'I just wanted to put a show down and I was worried after the first jump that I wasn't going to land anything but managed to land my next two jumps and walked away with a medal'.

Morgan only just squeezed into the final, gaining the 12th place after the qualifying round. The 28-year-old stuck his tongue out and raised his arms in the air as his name was read out by the race commentator.

He appeared shell-shocked as he celebrated with other members of the Team GB ski and snowboard team at the Alpensia ski jumping centre. Morgan only just squeezed into the final, gaining the 12th place after the qualifying round.

But he scored 16800 points from his second and third jump to see off his rivals and win bronze. Sebastien Toutant of Canada won gold and Kyle Mack of the USA won silver.

After the win Morgan, the former gymnast from Southampton, said: 'It's not sunk in yet, it's wild. He told how had to cope with an injury during the final after he fell and hurt himself in practice.

'I had a hard slam on my back and fell another three times so I'm a little bit sore but luckily I don't need to do any more snowboarding today so that's good.

He said his family and friends had cheered him on at home. 'They were all in a bar near the dry ski slope where I learned to snowboard in Southampton.

'I'm sure they were enjoying themselves. Gold medal winner Sebastien Toutant, of Canada, is flanked by silver medal winner Kyle Mack, of the United States, left, and bronze medal winner Billy Morgan, of Great Britain.

Former gymnast Morgan landed two huge jumps in the Big Air event to win bronze.

Renowned for his wild-lifestyle the 28-year-old posed wearing just his snowboard boots and his board for a national newspaper feature ahead of the Olympics. Hes seen in action during the final Saturday.

Team GB snowboard coach Hamish McKnight said he was delighted at Morgan's medal, which follows on from Jenny Jones' bronze in Sochi in 2014. 'Two medals in two Games, it's becoming a bit of a habit! he told the BBC.

'As long as it's not made a rule. 'It's an all or nothing sport as we've seen.

'Max Parrot [from Canada] nailed five 1800s one after the other in training but couldn't in the final. McKnight revealed he told Morgan to slow down his descent to better control his jump.

'I told him to check his speed because he's overshot it a few times,' he said. 'Thankfully he did and he landed two very good jumps.

Morgan had an uphill battle to win bronze after he failed to land his first jump. Sebastien Toutant of Canada, Kyle Mack of the U. , and Billy Morgan of Britain celebrate with their national flags.

He scored 16800 points from his second and third jump to see off his rivals and win bronze.

Ivanka Trump, South Korean first lady Kim Jung-sook and South Korean foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha attend the Mens Snowboarding Big Air Final at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre during day fifteen of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea.

At 28, Pyeongchang is almost certainly his last Olympic Games. He has been hampered with injury and endured personal agony when his father suffered a stroke last summer.

Team GB snowboarder Aimee Fuller branded Morgan a legend for winning Britain's first men's snowboard medal. She wrote on Twitter: 'LEGEND. HISTORY the first ever British male on top of the Snowboard Big Air podium! .

Morgan was already Britain's most successful male snowboarder after he finished sixth in the slopestyle final in Sochi in 2014.  Jones won the bronze medal in slopestyle event in 2014 – Team GB's first snowboard medal.

However as the oldest competitor in the free-style snowboarding events appeared to have lost his mojo when he failed to qualify for the slopestyle final.

But he regained his composure to land two enormous and highly technical jumps in the Big Air competition this morning. Morgans social media posts show him dropping his trousers in places like Austria (above).

Morgan did not take up snowboarding until he was 14, after taking part in gymnastics and stake boarding as a youngster. He became the first snowboarder to perform the triple backside rodeo trick, involving three mid-air rotations, in January 2012.

A video attracted more than one million YouTube views. In April 2015 he became the first snowboarder to land a backside 18000 quad cork - four flips and five full rotations.

Renowned for his wild-lifestyle the 28-year-old posed wearing just his snowboard boots and his board for a national newspaper feature ahead of the Olympics. His social media posts show him dropping his trousers in places like New Zealand.

Morgan had his right knee reconstructed two years ago, having competed in Sochi with a chronic knee problem.

Cheeky: He is known for his wild-lifestyle and posed wearing just his snowboard boots and his board for a national newspaper feature ahead of the Olympics. Seen above posing in New Zealand.

In Pyeongchang he has had to manage a left knee injury sustained before Christmas which limited his training time and affected the tricks he could do in the slopestyle competition.

He said: Having problems with both knees and falling out of the sky all day on these jumps is gnarly.

Morgan's medal confirms Pyeongchang as Britain's most successful Winter Olympic Games with five medals – ahead of Britain's best haul of four at Sochi in 2014 and Chamonix in 1924.

His bronze follows a gold for Lizzy Yarnold in the skeleton as well as bronze medals for fellow sliders Laura Deas and Dom Parsons and a bronze for free-style skier Izzy Atkin in the half-pipe event.

Britain still has hopes for a bronze medal in the women's curling final tonight.

WWE News - Kurt Angle has intriguing pick to win men's Elimination Chamber match - Duration: 4:20.

WWE News - Kurt Angle has intriguing pick to win men's Elimination Chamber match

This WWE legend has given his take on this upcoming match. That legend is WWE Hall of Famer and current Raw General Manager Kurt Angle.

Angle made his first appearance at a professional wrestling event in 1996 with his in-ring debut following in 1998. He signed a contract with the WWE that same year and participated in his first televised storyline in March 1999.

Angle was a six-time world champion (four reigns as WWF/WWE Champion, one as WCW Champion and one as WWEs World Heavyweight Champion), a one-time United States Champion, one-time Intercontinental Champion, one-time European Champion, one-time Hardcore Champion and one-time WWE Tag Team Champion.

He left WWE in 2006 but returned last year to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. During the recent Facebook Q&A, he was asked about who he thinks will win the men's Elimination Chamber match.

The sports entertainment company has already announced that Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, The Miz, Braun Strowman, John Cena, Elias, and Finn Balor will compete in the upcoming match.

It's been well documented that winner will take on WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34. The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, February 25th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Theyre all good enough for a title run. Cena needs it the least.

I think Roman has proven to be the new face of WWE so Im not sure he needs it. Braun is unbeatable so he seems to be in a good spot and doesnt need title.

Miz is the top heel and very established, so he doesnt need title. Finn would be a good surprise. Elias is off to a great start, but most likely not ready for main event at WM. probably will be by next year.

Seth could very well be the best on the roster. Im a big fan of Seth. Another long title run is coming soon for him.

So Id say Finn Balor could very well rise out if this with a much NEEDED shot at the Universal Championship.

When asked who was the most natural to work with between Brock Lesnar, Steve Austin, and Triple H, Angle stated the following:.

All three were different but they were all exceptional. Brock was the best chemistry. Austin was the most intense. HHH had impeccable psychology. I enjoyed all of our matches. But Brock was easier to work with because of our backgrounds..

Sridevi - Sridevi death News | sridevi died | bollywood actor sridevi passes away | - Duration: 4:05.

In the heat of the cruel south Indian summer, Sridevi cut a cool figure.

It was the early 1990s and she was in a white, flowing dress in the famous Prasad Studios

in Chennai, the city that spawned the career of India's iconic actress.

Tall and statuesque, she was regal rather than imperious, her hair styled to resemble

a cloud - as was the fashion at the time.

She was sitting on set between takes of a Bollywood song-and-dance sequence, ready for

a young reporter's interview, her expression giving away nothing.

Like most south Indian actors she was known by her first name.

Her rise to stardom was an extraordinary chapter in the country's film industry.

With a filmography of close to 300 movies in more than five Indian languages, she held

her own as a leading lady, a box office magnet from the 1970s to late 1990s.

Sridevi's life on the screen began with a successful early stint performing in all the

four language films in south India and graduated to an extraordinary career in Bollywood, where

she knew neither the language nor the culture of the Hindi film industry.

When she took a break from films, after her marriage to producer Boney Kapoor in 1996,

Sridevi was rumoured to be the highest paid in her field and her star power and charisma

persisted for years to come.

She embodied feminine mystique and that classic screen-goddess combination of beauty glazed

with mystery and intrigue.

She lit up the screen with her vivacity and charm, while off it she remained fiercely

private.

Film directors repeatedly spoke in awe of her acting prowess, which followed no method

but sheer intuition and instinct as she sparkled before the cameras and retreated into a shell

when the lights were off.

Like the film legend Greta Garbo, Sridevi was the art deco icon for India.

Her glittering costumes and dazzling presence on screen, coupled with her sculpted dance

performances in Hindi movies, found die-hard fans among young girls and women.

Her burlesque comic acts and vaudeville capers in films such as Mr India and Chaalbaaz delighted

both adults and children.

Her vulnerable sex appeal brought her female and male adulation and her intuitive acting

expertise made her a box-office sensation in Bollywood.

Sridevi's screen career began at the age of four in a 1969 Tamil-language film.

The eldest daughter of a small-time Tamil lawyer and a Telugu mother, she had an active

career as a child actor.

At 13 she was cast in the role of a complicated woman avenging her lover's death and as the

young wife of an older man in the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu (Marriage).

Sridevi's fan base is fiercely regional, too.

Her south Indian fans claim that her best acting phase was in the southern language

films, especially Tamil and Telugu, where she played non-glamorous and complicated roles.

However, Sridevi's north Indian fans say it was her Bollywood career that really allowed

her charisma and glamour to shine.

In 2012, her comeback Bollywood film English Vinglish was a huge hit, once again cashing

in on her unique combination of charisma and fluid acting talent.

Sridevi's screen profile was glamorous and she notched up several awards including the

Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour.

But her private life was one of heartbreak, loss and estrangement.

The Bollywood gossip mill relentlessly spoke of her lack of conversational abilities, her

romantic liaisons and heartbreaks as well as her bouts of cosmetic surgery.

Her secret wedding in 1996 led to a 16-year hiatus and she turned to her family life with

the birth of her two daughters.

In the years before her death she had taken up a variety of roles and her sudden death

at a family wedding in Dubai has come as a shock to India.

In the hours before her death, Sridevi's Instagram posts were alive with her pictures.

Bejewelled and in shimmering couture, her glittering smile lit up the screen as it always

had.
