This week on TGC News...
Load your mags automatically while you shoot, Clear Suppressors, a holster
that was stillborn, and the winner of the TGC Bacon Bash Giveaway!
Welcome back to another episode of TGC News, the only gun news show that covers things
you actually care about, My name is Jon Patton.
First things first!
The TGC Bacon Bash is over.
This was the first time we had ever done a big giveaway type thing on TGC and you guys
came out big time to get entered.
Its awesome.
And before I announce the winner I want to know if you guys want to see us do this type
of thing again, and if there's something we could do better, let us know down in the comments…
now, the winner.
The gun community in California is absolutely massive and that means our winner Eric Putz
is no surprise.
We are going to have POF make the Eric's new rifle compliant with state laws and go
out hunting in the not so distant future.
Again, I truly do appreciate all of the support you guys have given us and congrats to Eric
for taking home the big win for the TGC Bacon Bash.
Now, the news.
First up this week is a product I alluded to last week.
The company is called Advanced Firearms Accessories and the product is the AFLoader.
What is the AFLoader?
Well essentially it's an automated magazine loader.
It loads about 2 rounds per second and it works with both single and double stack magazines.
Its also not specific to caliber with 9, 40 and 45 being currently supported.
The operation seems simple enough, once you load your ammo hopper, which will be available
to hold anywhere up to 1,000 rounds, you program the amount of rounds to load, insert the magazine,
and off you go.
It runs off of wall power OR an internal battery pack.
So it's portable as well.
Sounds pretty sweet.
It doesn't stop there though.
AFA is also releasing a few other products at the same time.
An unbreakable holster, which seems weird to me because I don't know anyone that's
ever had a holster break on them, A universal SBR/pistol adapter that will allow you to
mount a brace to the forward rail portion of many popular handguns, and then a collapsible
AR buffer tube and stock combo.
Taking the idea of PDW's to a different place.
These guys are definitely thinking outside the box.
I don't know that all of these products are going to make a big impact but it's pretty
cool to see a company taking some leaps and trying something new.
The biggest problem I have, is that they are crowdfunding all of this stuff.
You guys know that I am NOT a fan of crowdfunding for start up companies.
At this stage in the game there have been too many companies that disappear without
ever delivering on the products.
Am I saying these guys will do that, absolutely not, but I think there are better ways to
fund a new company that doesn't put the burden on the backs of your customers.
Right now on Indiegogo.com, the AFLoader is listed at 190 bucks and has an arrival date
of next march.
The holster is set at 30, the underslung brace is 75 and the collapsible tube/stock combo
is 85.
Seemingly reasonable pricing across the board.
If I were you I would wait on the braces until they get an ATF letter but the star of the
show, the loader, seems like a really neat product for those that are disabled, sore
or just plain lazy.
We've included the link to the indiegogo page in the description below.
I want to hear what you guys have to say about all this so let's start a conversation in
the comments.
And in DEAR GOD THATS SO COOL news, one of YouTube's best scientific presenters, Destin
from a channel called SmarterEveryDay uploaded something recently that was one of the most
interesting pieces of content I've seen in a long time.
With the help of a company called Soteria out of Anniston Alabama, they filmed exactly
what takes place INSIDE a suppressor.
How did they do that?
By using acrylic outer sleeves and a high speed camera that costs about $200,000.
They started out with some traditional baffle designs and then moved into some that were
more exotic.
They also showed one that was sort of a combination of the two.
What I found very interesting was the way the more complex design in the forward portion
kind of stopped gases from exiting.
I mean, yes, the basic premise of the suppressor is to slow and cool gases upon exiting the
muzzle but to have it demonstrated in such a way was, kind of mind blowing.
And to see the entire thing explained by an actual physicist was really educational.
So often we have things like this explained to us by the very companies trying to sell
us the products and that's difficult to take with anything more than a grain of salt, most
of the time.
To see it in actual real world testing, is flat out awesome.
After you watch this video, please take a minute and hop over there to tell Destin that
TGC sent you.
You won't regret it.
Now, for something a little different.
I am very fortunate that I get invited to go to some incredible places because of TGC,
but unfortunately, I can't make it to every single event to which we are invited.
That being said, this time, with an event from Urban Carry, the company responsible
for the deepest concealment holsters around, I was able to con my buddy Johnny from 180
Second Ideas to go along and report back with his findings, let's see what Urban Carry
announced at the event.
Wow, that is an absolute pile of hot garbage.
It is really unfortunate to see that Urban Carry is about to go all-in on a massive component
set where none of it, short of the material it's made of, is a good idea.
Thanks for the report Johnny.
There is a link in the description to check out his channel.
It's time once again for Friendly Fire, the segment where I answer your questions, this
week all the questions are from the new TGC Nation facebook group.
Clint Walker, yes that Clint Walker, asks, What do you think of companies who release
products at SHOT show that still aren't available by the next SHOT Show?
Does this create trust issues?
The simple answer is I hate it.
It's a blatant display of impatience.
Companies often want so badly to be in the spotlight or create hype that they forget
to actually have the product ready for consumers.
It's incredibly frustrating in so many ways and it absolutely creates trust issues.
Derek Gray of Fitty%Tactical asks, 6.5 vs 22 nosler, which is better?
I'd have to give it to the 6.5 currently simply because ammo is more readily available
than the Nosler.
Could that change?
Yep.
But being able to shoot matters more than a potential slight edge in ballistics or terminal
effect.
And the last question from Joel Evan Wise, which will be my question to you guys at home…
what is a must have firearm for your collection?
I say the M1 Garand.
It's a classic, it's tons of fun to shoot and its screams America.
What do you guys think is a must have?
