Waching daily Apr 2 2017

In this short video we'll see how to understand the performance fees section of your portfolio.

You sure know that DARWIN Providers, that is, traders whose trades you are replicating with your investments in their DARWINs,

receive a 20% performance fee on the quarterly profits achieved for investors.

The Performance fees section is situated in the upper row of your portfolio.

In order for an amount to appear under the Performance fees label, one of the following has to happen first:

Either you sell a DARWIN and have profits from it

Or one of your investments in a DARWIN reaches quarter end and, again, you have profits with this investment.

Each row here, refers to a DARWIN in which you hold or held an investment.

You can see the DARWIN 's handle,

your current investment in the DARWIN,

your Closed P&L with it,

your high watermark,

your paid performance fees,

your withheld performance fees

and the date your quarter ends with each of your investments.

Performance fees get paid only when the quarter for an investment ends.

If you sell an investment before quarter end, performance fees get retained and they get paid to the trader only on quarter end and only if they still apply.

It could happen that, in the same quarter, you first sell an investment with profit, have performance fees retained, and then, in the same quarter, invest again in the same DARWIN and end up closing your investment quarter with losses.

In this case, retained performance fees would be paid back to you, the investor, instead of getting paid to the trader.

The date your quarter starts with an investment in a DARWIN gets determined by your first investment in the DARWIN.

Dates of successive investments in the same DARWIN have no effect on the schedule of quarter ends.

It's important you keep in mind when your quarter ends because two things happen then:

The first is that your withheld performance fees, if they still apply, get paid to the trader and will start to appear in the column of paid performance fees.

The second is that the profits on which you already paid performance fees will start to appear as your high watermark.

For investments not sold, that is, investments for which you don't have Closed P&L because your P&L is still open with them,

performance fees are paid and high watermarks get recorded as well on quarter end.

Now what is the high watermark?

Your high watermark is your profit with each Darwin on which you already paid performance fee.

It means that unless your investment generates new profits, above the high watermark, you won't be charged any new performance fee

A high watermark ensures that if the quote of a Darwin falls in one quarter, the performance fee can only ever be charged on any outperformance above the highest profit ever reached on a previous quarter end.

For example, if you have a profit of 200 euros in one quarter with a DARWIN

and then in the second quarter your investment with this DARWIN loses 300 euros

and in the third quarter it adds 900

in the first quarter, you would pay performance fee for 200

in the second quarter you would pay no performance fee at all

and in the third quarter you'd pay performance fee only for the new profit, that is, the 700 euros for which you haven't paid performance fee yet.

Measuring Investments' Risk: Value At Risk (VAR) - Duration: 3:51.

In this short video, we'll explain how an investment's risk gets measured.

First, let's clarify what risk refers to

Risk describes what could happen, in the future.

It is a forward-looking measure, unlike drawdown which describes what did happen, in the past.

At Darwinex we give much more weight to the measure of risk than to drawdown.

So risk describes what could happen to your money in the future.

Therefore, risk is always related to a target horizon.

At Darwinex this horizon is 1 month.

Risk at Darwinex is defined as 95% Value at Risk or 95% VaR, a widely used risk measure in finance.

It estimates how much an investment might lose with 95% probability, given normal market conditions, in a set time period such as a month.

In this chart you can see evolution of return of an investment.

The question is, what could happen to the return of this investment in the next month?

In order to respond to this question, different scenarios get projected taking into account both historical data and thousands of Monte Carlo simulations matching the risk and the style of the investment.

Projections for investments with lower volatility will present a lower volatility than projections for investments with higher volatility

which will result in more dispersed scenarios.

These % return projections get then plotted on a distribution graph,

and VaR will be the 95% percentile of the distribution.

Por example, an investment having a monthly Value at Risk of 10% will lose 10% or more in a month, 5% of the time (which is why we say worst month in 20).

The flip side of this is that this same investment will make more that -10%, 95% of the time, that is, 19 out of 20 months.

Now let's see what characteristics of an investment affect risk

First of all, the frequency of trades. All other things being equal, the more trades in an investment, the higher its risk.

Then, there is leverage and duration of trades. All other things being equal, the higher the leverage and the longer the duration of the trades, the higher the risk.

Finally, there is market volatility and correlation of assets. The higher the volatility and the correlation of the assets traded, the higher the risk.

Let's see where on the Darwinex platform you can check out and track VaR

You can do this on the DARWIN's page.

As you know, all DARWINs have the same monthly VaR of 10% in order for them to be comparable.

Still on the DARWIN's page, you may also track the risk of the strategy underlying the DARWIN.

The monthly VaR of the strategy underlying the DARWIN will most probably not be entirely stable but will change over time.

The task of the risk manager is to make it stable and predictable for investors in the DARWIN.

Happy investing and remember that Darwinex is a technology platform, not an investment advisor. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.

ROMPIENDO IPHONES POR FAMA (pongo iPhone7s porque clickbait) - Duration: 11:42.

Song: "Man I do love Coca Cola that's the reason this is called Deivit Cola" (10/10 lyrics -BuzzFeed)

Howdy welcome to this crap, today I wanted you to see

The video that changed my life

Yeah you like that? You like clickbaits huh you sons of b*tches

"This video will change you forever "

SCANDAL! GONE VIRAL! GONE SEXUAL!

Today's crap is a veeery interesenting thing

Nobody has covered it before

I'm not stealing the jokes from anyone

What I want to show you today is this f****ng guy

that he basically breaks f****ng iphones

he makes views breaking shit up, pure clickbait it's just horrible

"What a waste of coca cola"

Of course youtube isn't full of cheap clickbait gimmicks

The strategy this guy uses is to break iPhones, record it and upload it to Youtube. Basically.

like what the f*ck dude

how can he make this shit profitable dude

Like an iPhone 7s costs you nowadays nearly 700 bucks average

and nowadays is virtually impossible to squeeze 1k out of a million views

in youtube, like, how do I make this profitable?

oh, oh

10 million views? Seriously people? Seriously? You guys are just f****ng easy to impress.

you guys... 10 million views... my god... whatever

Fun fact, the guy presents the phone like it was an ad campaing by Apple

Yo, look at this iPhone its just amazing, this a marvelous piece of tech

oh my god this is nicely presented, woow, black matte? amazing

wait what are you doing? stop.

don't get me wrong I couldn't care less about an iPhone

but this guy is abusing an emotion

this guy is exploiting a technology symbol in exchange for money

and the fact that your content

is basically that, exploiting an emotion

who finds this fair? Am I the only one... AM I THE ONLY ONE GOING NUTS?

-Hi David -Hi

-Howdy? -Good

-How are you doing?

-Great, and you? (f****ng redundant question) -Great

-Hey look, I just bought an iPhone, 700 bucks

-Oh now, that's great. You go there and spend your money. You'll regret that.

-Yeah, cheap.

-Sooo i'm just going to smash it real quick

-And record it and upload it on youtube

-Looks like this rolls in lotta cash

-waddaya think?

-I don't really think that's a great idea but yeah keep going with your weird ideas, whatever

-Yeah, ok, great, umm I need to hang I got Willyrex (Spanish Scarce) waiting at the door. See ya.

Well you get the main idea of how the channel plays around, let's get to the f***ed up stuff

A lot of you are asking, what's the recipe for the perfect video?

For the next big thing. The one that will make it to #trending

right next to Got Talent videos with kids being lame and that kind of stuff.

Well look, I'm just about to show you. The ultimate recipe on how to make 1 million views.

The one for the perfect video, the viral video

THE ONE MILLION VIDEO:

iPhone 7

Molten aluminum

and... COCKROACHES

If you've seen something more f***ed I dare you to take a huge dump on the chat. Send me that shit because I won't believe it other way.

This video just starts like the rest. Basically jerking off on how great the iPhone is

But now, there's a twist, a new element

A brand new strategy to keep the views rolling

Let's push a little the Youtube standards. Let's push them. Let's f***ing kill living beings.

*THE GUY CAN'T HELP BUT LAUGH*

And yeah I know these are cockraches and they're disgusting and bla bla bla.

But I promise that after watching the whole video, you will be looking to start a god damn NGO.

God... Just go watch the video.

Link in the description

What kind of f***ed twisted mind can be able to do something like that?

This thing is at terror campaign level

I imagine this video being just next to a Nazi video, and just sitting right there a video of terrorist beheading american soldiers.

The f**k's wrong with the audio?

Wuzzup guise Scarce here and-

There's a guy yelling STOP

It's there. In the middle of the video.

yeah, what the hell

We've reached the point where we burn tech and animals in exchange for attention

What follows after that?

The guy also just uses such a cheerful narrative, this looks like a toy review channel

Haa haa, let's kill cockroaches for fun!

After this crime against nature, the guy acts like its all normal

He makes a review on the outcome of the thrilling experiment. Like it wasn't obvious what the f*ck just happened.

What's up guys TechRax here, and today we're going to see umm well...

What can happen if we...

Smash this cup with a hammer

So, let's see what happened

a couple of shards...

a little blood...

the cup is just crushed

WHAT A SURPRISE! RIGHT?

What a surprise

I mean come on dude, you just threw molten aluminum to the f***ing phone.

How is it going to be?

It'll be on fire, and the poor roaches... (Despair)

Umm... Why are you smashing it?

Why... Why are you...?

Alright then...

No shit

If you're not horrifyed enough

Take a look at this

Didn't see it?, look closely

help me

The man's just making a super duper happy review

And meanwhile the guy is talking about the results of the "test" you can see one of the cockroaches

at the bottom right of the screen writhing in pain, still alive with f***ing pieces of lava

dripping around it's skin

wuzzup guys TechRax here

and todddday we're SENDING THIS PATHETIC SOULS INTO THE OBLIVION

you literally can hear the poor creatures screeching

just listen

the most obnoxious thing from the whole video

is its ability to exploit the intrinsical need to fall for the clickbait

you do know for a fact what is going to happen, but still click, we all click. We haven't learned a thing.

no shit

I don't really know how to end the video

so I'm just going to steal idubbbz's montage structure (joke stolen from pyro haha subscribe)

Disregard for life

The guy just laughs

Toddddddddddday we have, we have a pretty special phone, its a huaweii and loook at thaat

this thing looks amaaaazing, it's a pretty nice phone, looks gorgious, what a great phone

BUT TODDDDAAAAAAY

we'll see if THIS PHONE can survive a beating on top of the screen

let's see if the screen can take a basic beating

MAAAN, we can SEEEE, that, the screen couldn't make it

wooow, who could've seen than one coming!

well the phone is done, let's check out the baby guys! :)

ohh man, what an accident!

ohh, I think... I think its asleep guys! See you guys in the next video! Like and subscribe!

Blatant cinisism

Deadly repetitive

Do I have to translate that? I mean, you don't have to be a genius.

this content may trigger a lot of opinions, that I know

Anyways I think probably the one that rises above is...

Dude you're a douchebag

Sacrilegio = Sacrilege. Who knew!

Meditación guiada 7. Programa INTRODUCCIÓN a MINDFULNESS. - Duration: 11:21.

Enhorabuena, has llegado a la sesión siete.

Haz primero varias respiraciones profundas,

Diversification Rebates - Duration: 6:00.

In this short tutorial we'll talk about diversification rebates.

Diversification rebates are parts of the execution commissions paid by investors in DARWINs that Darwinex pays back to investors

at the end of each market day.

Execution commissions, which are paid to Darwinex for getting a trade on the market

are not to be mistaken for performance fees, which are paid to DARWIN providers as a success fee for profits.

Execution commissions are already factored into your open P/L with each DARWIN, therefore they are not as visible as performance fees.

Darwinex perceives two goals with paying diversification rebates.

The first is to compensate for the negative effects of paying performance fees per DARWIN in diversified portfolios.

Investors pay performance fees for each and every DARWIN with whom they are having profits when their investments' quarter end comes

even if on the portfolio level they are losing.

Imagine an investor with two DARWINs in his portfolio;

with the one he gains 100 euros at quarter end, with the other he loses 100 euros at quarter end.

This investor would pay 20 euros as performance fee on quarter end despite having a P&L of 0 on the portfolio level.

Diversification rebates are meant to compensate for this.

The second goal is to compensate for the effects of charging a fixed execution commission independently from a portfolio's risk.

A portfolio of a single DARWIN is more risky, thus it can both gain and lose more than a portfolio of several DARWINs.

Therefore, we believe that investors who diversify their portfolio and this way have a lower profit potential, should pay lower execution commissions.

Let's see this with an example.

Investor A invests 1000 euros in DARWIN NTI and pays each day 2 euros as execution commission.

Investor B invests 500 euros in DARWIN NTI and 500 euros in DARWIN PFL.

As both DARWINs have a similar trading volume, investor B also pays each day 2 euros as execution commission.

Now, with DARWINs having a 10% monthly value at risk, investor A's investment at risk is 10%, that is 100 euros each month.

Investor B's investment at risk is lower due to diversification.

Assuming zero correlation between NTI and PLF,

after doing the math

we get that investors B's monthly investment at risk is 70.71 euros or 7.07%.

With both investors paying the same execution commissions, investor B has a lower investment at risk and thus a lower profit potential due to diversification.

Should we leave it this way, we would incentivize investors NOT to diversify.

However, diversification is the only way to lower the probability of suffering from unknown events.

Unknown events, like the flash crash of the pound on October 7th 2016,

are not factored into the calculation of value at risk.

Diversification is the correct way to prepare for such events.

As a consequence, we believe that to incentivize diversification is the right thing to do.

Therefore, our goal is that investor B's commission per risk be the same as investor A's commission per risk.

After doing the math, we get that theoretically investor B should pay 0.7 times the commission paid by investor A.

Theorically, investor B shall receive 0.3 times his daily commissions as diversification rebates.

This is theory behind diversification rebates.

In practice, however 0.3 times, or 30%, of investor B's daily commission can't be 30% of the 2 euros he paid.

Why?

The reason is that the bigger part of those 2 euros is not Darwinex's money.

Let's see some examples of how that part gets spent:

It is used to pay commissions of liquidity providers

It is used to pay fixed business costs of Darwinex and

It is used to cover costs of unknown events, a budget category every responsible broker has to have

To put it differently, Darwinex can only only pay back any money from its margin,

which is approximately 40% of commissions paid by investors.

This is the part of paid commissions that the diversification rebate % gets applied to.

In our example, investor B would get paid each day 30% of 0.8 euros

which is 40% of the 2 euros he paid as execution commission.

In the the table linked from this tutorial you may check out approx. % of diversification rebates depending on the number of DARWINs in your investment portfolio.

Happy investing and remember that Darwinex is an exchange, not an investment advisor.

Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
