Dentro de la sala de nefrología del Hospital J.M. de los Ríos: precariedad y desesperación - Duration: 4:03.

My name is Vicky Fernandez

My son's name is Andres Samuel Fernandez. I've been hospitalized in J.M. de los Rios Hospital for three months

He has endured two catheter changes

The first one (in his neck) Was infected with trombosis. He has the second one in his leg and he's still contamined

The only thing we see in here is that our children keep getting contaminated over and over and no one comes up with a solution

They change catheters, go into dialisis and the next week they get sicker because that's what happened to my son

Nowadays most of the supplies we have were donated

So we need help with getting antibiotics for our kids

That's when he was diagnosed. He had a bacteria called "Klebsiella pseudomonae"

Since then I've been hospitalized here with my son

We have up to two months now here in J.M. de los Rios Hospital

What worries me is that he's getting his catheter removed

He's getting a new one but the hemodialisis machine has not been cleaned

Our fear now is that his new catheter infects him with another dangerous bacteria

They've said that the machine has been cleaned several times. But our children keep getting infected

They change catheters but, then again, the new ones also have bacteria

What is being said is that the hemodialisis wing is contamined

And if that problem is not solved then the pacients are going to keep getting infected

He had two bacterias in that moment

He survived one month without a catheter. When they gave him a new one it was also infected

Last time he also had Klebsiella pseudomonae

But now they diagnosed him with Klebsiella and the other bacteria hasn't been identified yet

Our stay here has been tough because my son shows no signs of improvement

He has a new catheter now and still suffers from strong fevers

He looks very wore down and the situation in the hemodialisis wing is horrible

I really ask for some help to solve the hemodialisis problem

See if the machine can be decontaminated or what

The antibiotics don't help him anymore because the bacteria has gotten stronger

These bacterias are too strong because he has been taking antibiotics for too long and now they can't fight the infection

—Did your son suffered of any of that before coming to the hospital? —No, no

My son was healthy, since he got here he suffers from high blood pressure and intense fever...he got infected

—So he's actually worse now than he was before he came to the hospital. Yes. Instead of getting better he has been getting sicker

I came here to get him well and he's now much worse

Sincerely we don't know what to do or who to call anymore. This has wore us all out

I say goodbye: someone must help us. Really, because we feel like we're being ignored and we've already reached out to everybody

We're worried that if we don't take action soon our kids are going to die. Three of them already have

Our kids are next on the list. That's why we're so worried

In God's name we ask any person or institution willing to help us to please do it
