Oh it's so much fun, so much fun

Amazing! No, I'm not like that. That's not the kind of vlogger I am.

And something about myself

Hi guys. Yes, what can I say?

I am not to say to this. I talk to you on my travels.

But I thought: let's make a little video before I show my travel report.

Last year I filmed all my journeys.

I am away all the time. With the bicycle. For travel reports.

I write stories and I make photos

for magazines and newspapers. That's my job.

And I thought: let's start vlogging.

Why?Why did I start vlogging?

Later I'll show the video of Spain, it's coming! (or scroll to 9.10)

But I thought, lets tell some more about myself.

Cause I haven't done that yet. At all.

Why did I start vlogging? Good question.

Traditional media, it was really my thing.

I started studying in able to write for newspapers.

My working experience was at two newspapers: Brabants Dagblad and Haagsche Courant (The Hague).

It's called AD/Haagsche Courant now, worked for them for a while.

I really liked to hold a paper newspaper.

Where it that thing?Where is my phone?

I just wanted to say: I'm always holding my phone. Expect this moment.

Nowadays I'm totally addicted to this thing.

I was thinking: it's not going that great with the magazines...

Let's dive into the world of the vlogs.

I have to be honest: I didn't have a great impression of vlogs.

The printdino's, that's the way we, traditional journalists, call ourselves on forums.

Are a bit against new things: blogs, vlogs.

So I dove into the world of vlogs and noticed there are a lot of good vloggers.

Casey Neistat, when I start watching him I thought: wow!

He is a real filmmaker. Makes beautiful shots. And has a story to tell.

I'm still far away from that level!

I thought: just give it a try.

I could cooperate with Apple. They said: try an iPhone 7 Plus for a year.

I haven't really shown it yet. I don't get paid for it, but got the opportunity to use it for a year.

So suddenly there was a way to start vlogging.

I have got my full frame, which I am using now.

It doesn't have a flip screen though, so I won't be able to see myself. Not so handy.

I had a GoPro.

So I thought: just start.

I've put some travel videos online. Of footage I made last year.

Which I'm editing right now.

Also something very new. Editing. But ok.

You can get used to everything. In the long run.

At the beginning I thought it was super scary.

If you put something online... well, I received nice replies but also negative ones.

There are always people who like to judge.

No problem.

Constructive criticism? Great. I still have loads to learn.

I love it when people give advice.

But some people decided to tear me down.

That goes a bit far. I think.

But meanwhile I am also busy with some other things.

Vlogging brought me some new things.

That 's big fun.

I'm going to collaborate with Santos, a cycle brand.

Soon I'm going to make a vlog about this.

Apple let me use this Apple Watch for a year.

I'd like to make some videos about products I'm using.

Some people might think now: WTF, this is mega commercial.

Yes, you could say it like that. Haha, no.

No.

Magazines write reviews about bicycles, bags, camping stuff, etc.

The products are send to the editorial office. Hup, they make a review, often can keep it.

Nice. All fine.

I actually do the same but a bit bigger.

I don't try it for a night. Or a week.

That doesn't say anything.

I use it for a longer period.

I still searching. I made the travel vlogs. Quite nice I think.

Maybe not.

Maybe it is, maybe not.

You're the ones to decide.

I have also visited coffee places. With the theme: cycling.

It always has to do something with cycling. Well, it's a cycling vlog.

Loads of ideas.

I want to buy a drone.

Things such stabilizers.

So it won't be that shaky.

Sorry guys, sometimes you must get motion sickness watching my videos.

Sometimes it's all going up and down.

Yes, because of that one photographer kinda shot me down. Half. Yes, only half.

I'm learning.

Why do I put it online straight away? A lot of times I delay things, because I'm afraid to do it.

I thought: I should just do this. Hup.

I'm actually grateful for Apple. I didn't have any vlogs yet.

And they already like it to collaborate.

That's really says something, I think.

I mean...

They can collaborate with much bigger vloggers.

I wasn't even a vlogger yet.

Yes, I really like that.

Gave me a push in the back.

Okay, enough talking.

I also need more humour in my vlogs.

Really needed. Important.

Just being myself. But that's difficult.

Difficult to be yourself in front of the camera.

But that's what I really want.

One thing.

I'm not going to run around like a hyper...

Oh it's so fun, so fun, amazing. No!

I'm not that kind of vlogger.

My question to you is... that's why I'm making this vlog...

Not to talk for an hour

My question is: what would you like to see?

Do you really like the travels?

Or would you like to see the coffee hotspots? That vlog will be online soon. Things like that.

I'm experimenting. And see what you like.

I think it's super you're watching.

I just started.

You have to go through all the mistakes I make.

That part really took a long... was a bit boring.

Difficult to get through. But I hear it's getting better. You are the ones telling me.

Super you're following and watching me.

Great.

My plan is to communicate a bit more often with you. Like this.

Not just uploading videos. That's the nice thing of YouTube.

That time.

It should be uploaded the same time every week.

I tried guys. But uploading.... pfff. Such hassle for me.

That's that. Soon more. Hope ya'll keep watching.

Would love you to comment underneath, and tell me what you'd like to watch.

I am also curious if you prefer the cycling or the places I visit.

Cycling is great, but I also like to see things.

Like my colleague Robert van Weperen (writes for the Telegraaf, only about cycling) says...

I am a world cyclist in one day.

With me a circle around the church already ends up in an adventure.

Yes, I see so much, that's what I love so much about cycling. You can take the time.

Okay. Great you're here.

Now up to the last part of the Spanish cycling trip. La Rioja.

Next week... not a clue yet what I'm going to put online.

Exciting. To be continued.

Okay thanks! And if you'd like to put a thumb up, you can do that below...

And follow me. Cause I need more followers.

If you'd like to share this. Or if you know people who love cycling. For whom this could be nice.

Share it, please, that would be great!

Finding my target audience, well, that's a different story.

I'm used to sell my stories to an editor.

That mostly a big job, a task, hard work. But this is totally different. I am my own editor.

And now I'll have to find my viewers. If you'd like to help: super!

I put a lot of time in this. Why?

Especially to promote cycling. Because I'd like to try this medium, because it's fun.

And I hope I'll make loads of people happy with my vlogs!

But euros. No.

A lot of fun watching. See you next time, bye!

We just stood in that very special cathedral.

Accidentally there was someone with a key, so we could get inside.

The man who was there was part of a cultural organisation of 13 villages

who collaborate to preserve their culture. The government doesn't so anything, he said.

He sent us to this village. There is a library in an old farriery.

Very funny. It appeared to be closed.

There's no one. But it's open.

A spider.

Ghost house. It has a peculiar smell.

Loads of rocks here.

With things that are cut out, and very old towns.

And then there are wind turbines everywhere.

Very interesting combination.

Spain is doing very well with energy.

I think in Europe Spain has most wind energy per citizen.

Good job!

This is a commercial for Batavus.

This way we won't be on time for the monastery.

Well, I'm at the monastery.

I planned to be here at 4, so I would have time to visit it.

But we've seen so many special things on our way.

It's almost 6.30 pm. Still 7km to go. Dinner starts in half an hour. So I have to continue!

Eric, whom I cycled with today, asked if I could buy a beer.

I said: yes, but the monastery is closed at 6pm. But the shop was still open, so I bought a beer.

Unfortunately I can't drink it, cause I can't have gluten.

The only great absence.

So I bought some honey.

One more little climb, and then hup, hurry. I might just about make it. No shower maybe.

But it's a super beautiful day. Very nice.

I never seen one like that.

Beautiful. Big. He's probably in shock.

Maybe he had a very comfortable seat, behind your cycling bag.

Hello

Delicious after such a day full of climbing.Champaign.

Well I've done my hair.

Had a great shower.

Just thanking my bicycle.

During your work cycling with joy

Making a photo here and there, and taking it easy (easy!?)

We hope you have enjoyed this trip

And are looking forward to the photo report of this trip

Thank you very much

Here it is

The next day. It's the last day. Packed my tent.

Now I'm visiting a monastery.

I was just inside the monastery, and I thought...

I couldn't find my bicycle key. No, I didn't leave it in my bicycle, did I?

But who is going to steal a bicycle in front of the monastery?

It's a monastery of the Cathars.

At the edge of Burgos.

If you don't leave your bike key in your bicycle this is a place where you totally unwind.

Going to the center of Burgos now.

I see a very well-known sticker

My boyfriend and I cycled from The Netherlands to Santiago de Compostela a few years ago.

In France we followed these stickers.

The funny thing is: everywhere you see parts of castles. Old arches.

Here as well. You cycle along all kinds of things. New, old. All mixed up.

Really a voyage of discovery.

Outstanding. I'll come back.

With my boyfriend. Definitely.

On the bicycle.

I have to be honest. I was always really...

Against...

Don't I look strange like this?

I have to get used to this. What looks strange, and what doesn't on camera?

What did I want to say? What was I talking about?

Oh yes I remember!

Oh now I lost it again.

By the way, I'm not always wearing sport clothes.

Just so you know.

Do you like what I'm wearing?

A kind of jumpsuit.

I might want to start vlogging in English, but still in doubt.

Oh, now I'm not in focus anymore.

But that's not what I wanted to say. What did I want to say?

Oh yes, I was really a traditionalist.

I really loved print. And was really against websites, computers, etc. Modern.

Now I have turned 180 degrees.

I even navigate with my phone.

And I have this thing around my wrist.

But I actually really like it.

We live in a very interesting time.

I just got 35.

I experienced it both, the time without computers...

Well, there were computers. Commodore 64!

But no internet.

First phones didn't have internet guys. No.

You could ring with them.

And I had a buzzer, that vibrated... I wasn't allowed a phone yet.
