Scratch cooking makes lunchtime at the West Campus … oh so good!
"I do believe it brings in more customers."
And from chopping peppers, to preparing fruit cups and baking bread… scratch cooking is
the norm in kitchens across Denver Public Schools.
"Some of it's probably some of the cooking they get from home.
05 and then some may not be eating at home at all."
As DPS celebrates National Nutrition Month in March… this team of culinary artists
is serving up nutritious (and delicious) meals every day.
"My main thing is just seeing them happy with full stomachs and saying, 'That food was really
good!
Hey, when are we going to have green chili cheese fries again?'"
"Because there's so much love in 'em.
(laughs)"
Tina DiMucci has been in DPS for more than 20 years.
Now 81 - she knows what good nutrition can mean.
"...that's going to help you all day long."
It's what keeps her - and their customers - going all year round.
"I like being around the kids.
Doing something for the kids."
