Liverpool FC News - De Bruyne backs himself over Salah for award
Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne believes that he deserves to win the PFA Player of the Year award ahead of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.
The PFA is set to announce the shortlist for the award shortly and there has been much speculation over which of the two stars deserves to win it most.
And Belgium international De Bruyne has stated his belief that his consistent form this season means that he warrants the prize ahead of Salah – who has scored thirty-seven goals in all competitions so far this season.
The former Chelsea midfielder has notched eleven goals and provided twenty assists as his side have raced away in the title race and won the League Cup.
"In one way I believe I deserve it, because I have been very consistent in my form. he is quoted by The Mirror.
"I am very happy with myself, I am very pleased with how I have played.
I didn't expect to be this good this season.
"If I get it, it would be nice for the team and for me.
I think there is almost no game where my standard has dropped, so I have been constant, and I am happy with myself.
"To maintain the level the amount of games I have played, the amount of minutes, I am pleased with that.
"Salah has a remarkable goalscoring run, and he plays very well like an inside forward type of role.
This season he has been incredible. " he finished.
Liverpool supporters are unlikely to agree with his sentiment.
