Waching daily Apr 30 2018

Welcome back to Defence Team News,

I'm Lt(N) Jeff Lura.

And I'm Shelley Van Hoof. Here are the headlines at Defence.

The Royal Canadian Navy recently hosted

internationally recognized Canadian artist Shania Twain,

who met with Canadian Armed Forces members

to get a sense of everyday life in the Canadian Armed Forces.

In addition to travelling by Sea King helicopter

and high speed boat,

the singer toured HMCS Ottawa,

a modernized Canadian Patrol Frigate,

HMCS Chicoutimi, an updated Victoria Class Submarine,

and got an up-close look

at Canadian Army artillery and vehicles.

The CAF routinely hosts local and internationally

renowned Canadians

to demonstrate capabilities

and allow members to share the pride they have

in their service to Canada and Canadians,

at home and abroad.

I want to give a big thank you to all our Canadian

Armed Forces deployed around the world

and their families at home.

We are all so proud of you.

We want to see you stay well and get home safe.

Bravo Zulu to the Royal Military College of Canada.

The school placed second

amongst 64 teams from 14 countries

at the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition

held at the United States Military Academy

in West Point, New York.

Military academies from around the world

participated in the prestigious, two-day skills competition

which included approximately 43 kilometres

of navigation across difficult terrain,

weapon handling, rifle marksmanship,

combat swim, trauma care, first aid, problem-solving

and leadership challenges.

Each team was comprised of

nine officer cadets and two alternates

who worked together to overcome challenging obstacles.

The Royal Military College has previously won the competition

from 2005 to 2007, in 2009, and also in 2016.

That's it for us. Thank you so much for watching.

See you next time…

Advanced TV News - Weekly Recap - April 30 2018 - Duration: 2:15.

Welcome to your Advanced TV News weekly recap for April 30!

Here's the five top stories you may have missed last week…

Tim Ware, VP Advanced TV at Telaria, explained that the two key components to Advanced TV

are targeting and automation in this exclusive interview.

He also states that engagement, delivery, and brand ad effectiveness are the top three

immediate and valid measurements to track the value of Advanced TV.

Based on 55 OTT providers, Convergence Research Group estimated that there will be a 40% increase

in revenue in 2018 to nearly $16.6 billion.

Come 2020, the group suggests that OTT platforms will take 90% of the share of U.S. movie/TV

rental revenue, up from the 64% they currently own.

Starting the week strong, 4C released Scope, a new unified platform for audience insights,

activation, and analytics across screens from social media and TV marketplaces — the first

of its kind in the marketing technology industry.

The platform enables marketers to go from channel-centric advertising to audience-centric

advertising to focus on who they're marketing to rather than where.

Conviva reported that over-the-top viewing grew 114% in Q1, with total viewing reaching

nearly 5 billion hours!

Apple TV saw the most growth, nearly double that of all the other platforms at 709%.

Conviva uses an all-screen census measurement approach to capture the streams played, viewing

hours, devices and region data.

According to a study conducted by Interpublic Group's Magna Global and IPG Media Lab,

video ads viewed over the over-the-top platform Roku were 67% more effective than ads on linear

TV.

The study also found that consumers found these ads more memorable, and perceived brands

to be twice as innovative when running ads through OTT platforms versus traditional linear

TV.

Thanks for tuning in!

Be sure to check back next week with more updates!
