Liverpool FC News - Liverpool join race to sign Torres
Liverpool have joined the race to sign Valencia youngster Ferran Torres.
Thats the claim being made in an article by Simon Jones for The Daily Mail, in which he states that the Reds are monitoring the progress of the Spaniard.
Torres is an under-19 international for his country and has attracted interest from La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid, according to the report.
Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the eighteen year old in action for both Spain under-19s and Valencia this season, Jones writes.
Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague has also claimed that the club are interested in doing a deal to sign the youngster this Summer.
He is eighteen years old and did very well against France in the international break for Spain Under-19s even though they did not make the European Championships. he said.
He was the best player for Spain at Under-19 level and the only one playing regularly in the top division.
He has played six out of the last seven games, eleven in total this season, and quite clearly Valencia want to keep him.
They renewed his contract until 2020 and put in a buyout clause of €25m, but Liverpool and others are keeping a close eye on him.
He is a dribbler, fast on the wing, can play on either wing, and he has got ability and intelligence.
He can also play inside if needed, so he is a modern winger. he finished.
The teenager is under contract at the Mestalla until the Summer of 2020 and the Spanish club are expecting to receive bids for his services this Summer.
His buyout fee has been set at £21.
9m, according to the report, and Torres is said to have attracted the interest of Premier League club Chelsea as well.
He wouldnt be the first Spaniard named Torres to play for either Liverpool or Chelsea should he arrive in England this Summer as his compatriot and namesake Fernando Torres played for each.
