Liverpool FC News - Liverpool join race to sign Torres

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Valencia youngster Ferran Torres.

Thats the claim being made in an article by Simon Jones for The Daily Mail, in which he states that the Reds are monitoring the progress of the Spaniard.

Torres is an under-19 international for his country and has attracted interest from La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid, according to the report.

Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the eighteen year old in action for both Spain under-19s and Valencia this season, Jones writes.

Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague has also claimed that the club are interested in doing a deal to sign the youngster this Summer.

He is eighteen years old and did very well against France in the international break for Spain Under-19s even though they did not make the European Championships. he said.

He was the best player for Spain at Under-19 level and the only one playing regularly in the top division.

He has played six out of the last seven games, eleven in total this season, and quite clearly Valencia want to keep him.

They renewed his contract until 2020 and put in a buyout clause of €25m, but Liverpool and others are keeping a close eye on him.

He is a dribbler, fast on the wing, can play on either wing, and he has got ability and intelligence.

He can also play inside if needed, so he is a modern winger. he finished.

The teenager is under contract at the Mestalla until the Summer of 2020 and the Spanish club are expecting to receive bids for his services this Summer.

His buyout fee has been set at £21.

9m, according to the report, and Torres is said to have attracted the interest of Premier League club Chelsea as well.

He wouldnt be the first Spaniard named Torres to play for either Liverpool or Chelsea should he arrive in England this Summer as his compatriot and namesake Fernando Torres played for each.

Liverpool FC News - De Bruyne backs himself over Salah for award

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne believes that he deserves to win the PFA Player of the Year award ahead of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

The PFA is set to announce the shortlist for the award shortly and there has been much speculation over which of the two stars deserves to win it most.

And Belgium international De Bruyne has stated his belief that his consistent form this season means that he warrants the prize ahead of Salah – who has scored thirty-seven goals in all competitions so far this season.

The former Chelsea midfielder has notched eleven goals and provided twenty assists as his side have raced away in the title race and won the League Cup.

"In one way I believe I deserve it, because I have been very consistent in my form. he is quoted by The Mirror.

"I am very happy with myself, I am very pleased with how I have played.

I didn't expect to be this good this season.

"If I get it, it would be nice for the team and for me.

I think there is almost no game where my standard has dropped, so I have been constant, and I am happy with myself.

"To maintain the level the amount of games I have played, the amount of minutes, I am pleased with that.

"Salah has a remarkable goalscoring run, and he plays very well like an inside forward type of role.

This season he has been incredible. " he finished.

Liverpool supporters are unlikely to agree with his sentiment.

Liverpool FC News - Klopp explains why Guardiola has had more success - Duration: 4:39.

Liverpool FC News - Klopp explains why Guardiola has had more success

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that it isnt witchcraft that has seen Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola win more trophies than him.

The German was speaking to UEFA.

com ahead of Wednesday nights Champions League clash when he said that the Spaniard has had better teams than he has.

Guardiola won a plethora of trophies in his managerial career with Barcelona and Bayern Munich before moving to City, where he won his first trophy in February by claiming the League Cup.

He is on course to win the Premier League this season as well.

And Klopp, who was in charge of Borussia Dortmund while Guardiola was managing in Germany, has had his say on the Spaniards success.

"His teams are always excellently positioned. Klopp said.

He always has great teams which make excellent decisions.

At Barcelona it was Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Lionel Messi and so on, just to mention the creative players from his time there.

"At Bayern he had fantastic players who made a lot of great decisions.

Now, with Gundogan, Silva, Aguero, Sane, Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, theyre extraordinary.

"Positioning is important but this is not witchcraft.

It is not unusual just because the wing-backs come inside but when the players are in position they move every millisecond in order to be available.

And when they are, thats when the individual quality of the player becomes important.

"So theyre already well positioned on the pitch, they know whats going on around them, they are very well orientated and they can pass the ball into the next area.

Thats what makes them extraordinary.

Whenever they cant pass they use their pace in order to progress further up and then the space on the wing is free.

Klopp has managed to beat Guardiola six times in their eleven meetings as managers so far but has not won as much silverware in his career – and he has explained why that is.

"Theres no big difference, actually.

Its just that Pep has always had better teams than me. he said.

"You can see that now with Manchester City, they have a lot more points than we do.

However, that difference has never been as small as it is now.

When we coached at Bayern and Dortmund respectively, that difference was really big.

And when he was coaching Barcelona I was at Mainz, so that was a completely different situation.

"Theyve got a lot more ball possession than I ever had in my coaching career.

They were always world-class teams and we always had to improve a little bit.

When you have more ball possession, you dont need to worry too much about what you need to do when your opponents have the ball. " he finished.

Klopp will be hoping to get the better of Guardiola once again when the sides clash in the Champions League quarter finals this week.
