Obama Gets Bad News, But It Gets Worse When President Trump Rubs It In His Face

Today is not a good day to be Barack Obama.

He just received some terrible news that will undoubtedly be a blow to his ego.

It only gets worse for him as President Donald Trump rubs it in his face, but it's easy

to see why Trump is celebrating this stunning announcement.Despite the best efforts of the

mainstream media, Hollywood, and political pundits who have been predicting Donald Trump's

demise since he announced his run for the presidency in 2015, Trump's popularity has

now surpassed former President Barack Obama's popularity for the same time period in his

presidency.

The president's popularity rating among likely voters hit a whopping 50 percent on

Monday, outpacing Obama at the same point in his first term, according to a new Rasmussen

poll.

A third of those polled said that they "strongly approve" of the president's job performance.

The poll found that 49 percent disapprove of the job that the president is doing, with

38 percent saying they "strongly disapprove."

President Donald Trump was in the upper 50s in the poll right after his inauguration,

a honeymoon period for any president, even though the Democrats did their best to ruin

his honeymoon with protests and riots from the day he was elected.

He last hit the 50 mark in February in the same poll.

Since that poll, there has been an onslaught of negative press, with CNN's nightly coverage

leading the charge.

It seems that the constant barrage of David Hogg and the other Parkland kids threatening

to infringe on the people's Constitutional right to bear arms has not had the desired

effect for Democrats.

At the same time in former President Barack Obama's first term, April 2, 2010, the poll

saw him with a 46 percent approval rating.

His disapproval came in at 53 percent.

The poll was conducted among 1,500 likely voters.

A third, 500, were contacted by telephone and the other 1,000 took the poll online.

President Donald Trump celebrated the news with a tweet on Monday night.

"President Trump's approval rate among likely U.S. voters hit 50 percent on Monday,

which puts him higher than former President Barack Obama's score at the same point into

his first term, according to a new poll," he wrote with a screenshot of the story. The

liberal mainstream media will have a tough time trying to spin those numbers to make

President Donald Trump look bad, but we're certain there will be some fake news to come

from this.

You don't need a poll to tell you that.

Fox could sell Sky News to Disney - Duration: 0:58.

Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox has come up with two proposals it thinks will alleviate

a U.K. regulator's concern about the company's bid to purchase European broadcaster Sky.

Both options revolve around Sky's news business.

On Tuesday, 21st Century Fox said it could either legally separate Sky News from the

rest of Sky, or it could sell Sky News to The Walt Disney Co.

This Sky News deal would be separate from the $52 billion deal Disney announced in December

to acquire many of Fox's entertainment assets, including its stake in Sky.

That stake currently stands at 39 percent, but Murdoch's been trying to acquire the rest

for a while now.

The Sky News proposals are in response to the U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority,

which said earlier this year that the Fox-Sky deal was "not in the public interest" and

that it would give Murdoch too much control over British media and too much influence

on politics.

Britain's culture minister has until May 1 to decide if the deal should advance.

George W. Bush's Ethics Chief Warns Trump Insiders: People Will Go 'To The Slammer'

Were going to have people going to the slammer over this, the question is who, and how high up this is going to reach.the notion theres no collusion is just ridiculous - Richard Painter, former White House Ethics Lawyer for President George W.

Richard Painter, a former ethics chief in the George W.

Bush White House, is predicting that people linked to President Donald Trump will go to jail over the Russia investigation.

"We know there was collusion," he said on CNN on Thursday evening.  "The president can deny it all he wants, but we have the meeting in Trump Tower with the Russian agents," he said. "We have Mr [George] Papadopoulos who had his Russian handler, the professor they called him, over in London, and now we've got [Rick] Gates and his Russian agent contact." Painter said the critical question is whether that collusion was illegal and if it violated campaign finance laws or other laws.  "A lot of people are lying about their contacts with the Russians, and that's criminal, so we're going to have people going to the slammer over this.

The question is who and how high up this is going to reach with respect to criminal conduct.

But the notion there's 'no collusion' is just ridiculous.

There is collusion, and we know it by now." Painter, who served in the Bush administration from 2005 through 2007, has been a frequent Trump critic. Last year, he slammed the president for mishandling calls to the families of fallen U.S.

soldiers.

"He has no empathy, no understanding of the human emotions of what people go through because he never did it himself, he stayed home during Vietnam with his sore foot or whatever it was," he said.

He also warned last year that lying and obstruction of justice related to Trump's firing of James Comey as director of the FBI could be "what puts an end to this White House."  See his full comments in the clip above.      .

Israeli Troops Wound 13 On Gaza Border, Day After Deadly Protest

GAZA (Reuters) - Israeli troops fired warning shots toward Palestinian youths gathered at the Gaza-Israel border on Saturday, wounding 13 people, health officials said.

Tension remained high in the area a day after deadly violence broke out in one of the biggest Palestinian demonstrations there in years.

An Israeli military spokesman said he was checking the details of Saturday's unrest.

On Friday at least 15 Palestinians were killed by Israeli security forces confronting protesters, some of whom the military said had opened fire, rolled burning tires and hurled rocks and fire bombs toward troops across the border.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared Saturday a national day of mourning and a general strike was called across the occupied West Bank.

Thousands in Gaza marched through the streets at funerals for those killed.

Tens of thousands of Palestinians had gathered on Friday along the fenced 65-km (40-mile) frontier, where tents were erected for a planned six-week protest pressing for a right of return for refugees and their descendents to what is now Israel.

The Israeli military estimate was 30,000.

Families brought their children to the encampments just a few hundred meters (yards) from the Israeli security barrier with the Islamist Hamas-run enclave.

But hundreds of Palestinian youths ignored calls from the organizers and the Israeli military to stay away from the frontier and violence broke out.

PALESTINIANS MARKING "CATASTROPHE" The protest, organized by Hamas and other Palestinian factions, is scheduled to culminate on May 15, the day Palestinians commemorate what they call the "Nakba" or "Catastrophe" when hundreds of thousands fled or were driven out of their homes in 1948, when the state of Israel was created.

Israel has long ruled out any right of return, fearing an influx of Arabs that would wipe out its Jewish majority.

It argues that refugees should resettle in a future state the Palestinians seek in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza.

Peace talks to that end have been frozen since 2014.

Israel withdrew its troops and settlers from Gaza in 2005 but still maintains tight control of its land and sea borders.

Egypt also keeps its border with Gaza largely closed.

Abbas's spokesman, Nabil Abu Rdainah, said: "The message of the Palestinian people is clear.

The Palestinian land will always belong to its legitimate owners and the occupation will be removed."   Israeli military spokesman Brigadier-General Ronen Manelis said Hamas was using the protests as a guise to launch attacks against Israel and ignite the area.

He said violence would likely continue along the border until May 15.

"We won't let this turn into a ping-pong zone where they perpetrate a terrorist act and we respond with pinpoint action.

If this continues we will not have no choice but to respond inside the Gaza Strip," Manelis told reporters in a phone briefing.

The Gaza Health Ministry had said on Friday 16 people were killed but revised the death toll to 15 on Saturday.
