Arsenal fans will be hoping that is a good omen with their move for the Dortmund forward
seemingly at an impasse after having two bids rejected.
The Gunners remain hopeful of striking a deal but with the Wednesday deadline day looming
large, they are well aware that time is running out.
To make matters worse, Dortmund played their forward at the weekend after dropping him
for two straight games.
They did so to prove to Arsenal they are in the driving seat in negotiations.
However, Aubameyang is also due to appear in court on Monday morning to testify as a
witness in the Dortmund team bus bombing from last year.
That may also explain a bit of the hold up in the deal.
However, according to reports in Germany, Arsenal and Dortmund have reached an agreement
of €60 million -
roughly £53.7 million - for the 28-year-old and the deal will be done on Wednesday.
Previously, Dortmund officials have projected a calm and confident approach in negotiations
and it seems as though for all of Arsenal's endeavour,
they have managed to shave all of £2.3 million off Dortmund's reported asking price of £56
million.
Michael Zorc, sporting director of Dortmund, in an interview with German TV, suggested:
"We are ready to realise a transfer under certain parameters, but only if these [parameters]
are fully met.
He confirmed that "Arsenal have made several attempts thus far, but we have refused them
all."
Arsenal have already secured Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of the Alexis Sanchez deal and are
reportedly looking to bring Jonny Evans in from West Brom, too.
However, Arsene Wenger isn't interested in paying the £25 million asking price the Baggies
want,
especially when he could be available for just £3 million if West Brom are relegated.
