WWE News - Why Nikki Eliminated Brie Bella At Royal Rumble 2018

Brie and Nikki Bella were among the surprise entries at the first 30-women Royal Rumble on Sunday. The Bella twins reached the final three, along with Asuka.

But just when it looked like they had the upper hand, Nikki backstabbed her sister and eliminated Brie.

Asuka would last eliminate Nikki, becoming the winner of the first women's Royal Rumble. The Bella twins haven't been full-time wrestlers for a long period, so many are probably wondering why they'd book Nikki to betray her sister.

Well, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, this finish was booked so that it could set up an angle for the upcoming Total Divas season. We'll have to wait and see how the rest of it unfolds on television.

This isn't the first time the twins have betrayed one another in storyline. Brie faced Stephanie McMahon at SummerSlam 2014, and was on the verge of victory.

Nikki then came out and attacked Brie, helping Stephanie win the match while turning heel in the process.

The Bella twins were among the many female legends to return to the Royal Rumble. Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly, Torrie Wilson and Michelle McCool also highlighted surprise entries and returns.

The night was capped off with Ronda Rousey debuting for the WWE, who has signed a full-time contract with the company.

Nikki's last match was at WrestleMania 33, where she and fiancee John Cena defeated The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag-team match. She then announced she'd be taking a break from wrestling.

Brie also announced she'd be taking a hiatus from in-ring competition, but is currently working for the company as an ambassador. She and Daniel Bryan had their first child together last year, so a full-time return is unlikely right now.

It was awesome to see the Bella twins return at Royal Rumble, decide the questionable ending for both at the event. We'll see if at least makes for good television on the WWE Network.

David Bowdich is set to become the second-highest ranking FBI official after the retirement of Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, The Washington Post reports.

Bowdich, 48, is currently the FBI's associate deputy director, making him the third-highest official in the agency.

McCabe is on leave until his March retirement and Bowdich will fill his role in an acting capacity. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosensteinwill then decide whether Bowdich remains in the position or if he is replaced by someone else in consultation with FBI Director Christopher Wray, who is is said to want to put together his own leadership team.

According to NBC News, McCabe was pushed out of the FBI after attacks from President Donald Trump.

Bowdich Is Well-Liked Among Those in the FBI & Was Seen as Someone Rising to the Top of the Agency.

FBI Director Christopher Wray had been leaning toward promoting David Bowdich to replace Andrew McCabe for several months, the New York Times reported in December.

According to the Times, Bowdich is well-liked within the FBI and is seen as being outside McCabe's inner circle.

Bowdich has been in the FBI since 1995 and has long been viewed as someone who is "next in line" to rise up the ranks of the agency, according to Newsweek.

Former Special Agent Frank Montoya Jr.

, who oversaw the FBI's Seattle office, told Newsweek Bowdich is a "good man" who is "fair" and "objective" and has a good reputation among agents.

Katherine Schweit, a retired FBI executive, told Newsweek that Bowdich is a "great guy," adding that he's "well respected.

He Was Involved in Conversations About the Loretta Lynch-Bill Clinton Tarmac Meeting & Talked to Comey About Trump's Request for Him to Back Off Flynn.

Bowdich has found himself at involved in two political incidents in recent years. According to FBI documents, Bowdich was involved in email discussions led by then-FBI Director James Comey about then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch's controversial tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton.

Bowdich had recently been promoted to a role as a senior FBI official in Washington.

The meeting between Lynch and Clinton was held while the FBI was investigating Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server.

Bowdich could also be called as a witness in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election, Vox reported in August.

McCabe told Bowdich and other FBI officials that they could be interviewed about conversations they had with Comey about Trump's alleged request that the FBI back off its investigation into Michael Flynn.

Comey testified before Congress that he spoke to Bowdich after the January 27 call with Trump.

According to Vox, Mueller is investigating whether Trump obstructed justice by requesting that Flynn be left alone.

Bowdich also has ties to Mueller.

He was picked by Mueller in 2011 to handle the transition to a new FBI director after Mueller's 10-year term expired.

But that role become irrelevant after Mueller received a two-year extension.

Bowdich was then named as special assistant to the associate deputy director, a role he held for about a year.

Bowdich Was the Face of the FBI After the San Bernardino Terror Attack.

Bowdich was the face of the FBI after the San Bernardino terror attack in 2015 and led its investigation into the shooting.

At the time, Bowdich was the assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office.

He was appointed to that role in 2014 by James Comey after working from September 2012 until December 2014 as special agent-in-charge of the Los Angeles Field Office's Counterterrorism Division, according to a press release.

As the counterterrorism division leader, Bowdich, "led the Joint Terrorism Task Force, responsible for all counterterrorism investigations and operations in the Los Angeles region and surrounding counties, as well as overseas investigations in Southeast Asia.

As SAC, Mr Bowdich was also in charge of all Los Angeles Crisis Response assets.".

He left the Los Angeles office in April 2016 when he was promoted to associate deputy director by Comey.

"In this role, he oversees the management of all FBI personnel, budget, administration, and infrastructure," the FBI's website says.

During his time in LA, Bowdich talked to the Los Angeles Times about his job, including investigations into public corruption.

"As to political corruption, the message sent by the prosecutions should be encouraging to taxpayers," he told the newspaper.

"We have a lot of good politicians.

When we have allegations of a bad apple, we'll go after that extremely aggressively.

That's what makes our government different from so many others.".

Bowdich joined the FBI in 1995 and was first assigned as a special agent in the agency's San Diego field office, according to his biography on the FBI's website. In San Diego, Bowdich, "investigated violent crimes and gangs and served as a SWAT Team operator and sniper.

He led a yearlong wiretap investigation that culminated in the first federal racketeering convictions ever to be brought against street gang members in the Southern District of California.".

In 2003, Bowdich received his first promotion to the FBI's Washington headquarters when he was assigned to the Safe Streets and Gang Unit.

He spent two years there before returning to San Diego.

"In late 2005, Mr Bowdich returned to San Diego and supervised a multi-agency gang task force.

In this role, he led agents and detectives who investigated racketeering and drug cases against the Mexican Mafia, Bloods, Crips, and the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club using wiretaps and undercover operations," according to the FBI's website.

Bowdich then became the assistant special agent-in-charge of the San Diego Field Office in 2009, according to his bio.

"In this role, he oversaw all non-white-collar criminal violations and the Imperial County Resident Agency.

He recognized an emerging kidnapping trend perpetrated by Mexican cartel-related criminal enterprises.

In response, Mr Bowdich formalized and initiated the first FBI hybrid squad in the country designed to target the threat posed by the kidnapping cells operating on both sides of the United States and Mexican border," the FBI's website says.

"Within one year, the interagency squad constructed a large-scale RICO case against 43 cartel members and associates who operated multiple kidnapping cells in the San Diego region.

During this assignment, Mr Bowdich also oversaw the murder investigations of two United States Border Patrol agents who were killed in the line of duty.".

Bowdich, Who Is Married With 2 Kids, Worked as an Albuquerque Police Officer Before Joining the FBI & Attended New Mexico State University & Georgetown.

David Bowdich is married and has two children, according to an FBI press release from 2014.

Braun Strowman and Kane clashed on Monday Night Raw in a Last Man Standing match, with the winner earning a spot in the six-man Elimination Chamber match next month.

The winner of that match will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34.

But Strowman did not need much work to take down The Big Red Machine. 24 hours after both stars saw Lesnar escape with the Universal title at Royal Rumble, The Monster Among Men got some comeuppance.

With Kane stuck under the announcer's table, Strowman flipped the entire thing over on the WWE legend, and won the match with ease:.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene, and Kane was taken out on a stretcher. Raw general manager Kurt Angle then confronted Strowman, who vowed that he would be the last man standing at Elimination Chamber.

The announcers were forced to move over to the ringside broadcast table instead.

You have to think Michael Cole – who was attacked by The Monster Among Men two weeks ago – has had enough of Strowman making his job that much harder.Strowman has received a massive push over the past year, destroying most of his opponents with relative ease.

He's gotten over with wins over Big Show, Roman Reigns and Kane. It's evident that Vince McMahon is ready to roll with his next "big man" for the long run.

Though Strowman is confident he'll be facing Lesnar at WrestleMania 34, most reports suggest that it'll actually be Roman Reigns who faces The Beast Incarnate instead.

Of course, things could change – or Strowman could be added to make it a Triple Threat match.

After the Strowman match, Elias defeated Matt Hardy (thanks to a distraction from Bray Wyatt), to also qualify. But it's safe to say nobody will have left a statement in their Elimination Chamber qualifying match the way Strowman did.

Christopher Dionne: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Cops in Connecticut say a former HGTV host who had a new pilot due to debut on A&E sexually assaulted a 10-year-old female asking her if she was a "big girl or little girl?" According to a Facebook post from the Connecticut State Police, the investigation into the conduct of Christopher Dionne goes back to November 2017.

Troopers were called to a home in Old Lyme, close to the Long Island Sound, in November after a 10-year-old girl reported that she had been sexually assaulted.

Over the course of the investigation, Dionne was identified as the suspect.

On January 29, Dionne turned himself into state police in Westbrook.

He is being charged with sexual assault in the fourth degree and risk of injury to a minor.

Dionne is due to appear in court in New London and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Dionne, who lives in Old Lyme, appeared in Family Flip on HGTV in July 2015.

The show only aired one episode and wasn't picked up.

It dealt with Dionne and his twin brother, Michael, remodeling a home and then selling it on at a profit.

After news of his arrest broke, references to Dionne were removed from HGTV's website.

The 10-Year-Old Says Dionne Asked if She Wanted to Kiss His Genitals Back in September.

The 10-year-old girl was sleeping at Dionne's home because he was having a party, reports NBC Connecticut. The station says that the girl told cops that Dionne touched her on the buttocks and held her shirt up to take a photo.

A few hours later, Dionne came back and did the same thing again, the girl said.

Dionne is also accused of asking if the girl wanted to see his penis.

The girl said "No" and that Dionne told her not to tell anyone, "I'll have to go to jail and (my daughter) won't have a daddy.".

NBC Connecticut reports that Dionne's version of events was that the 10-year-old girl was awake when he came home from a night out.

When he sat on the couch with the girl started to rub his stomach.

Dionne told cops that he told her, "That's big girl stuff." At that point, Dionne says the girl started to cry.

At the time the allegations first arose, Dionne was in Santa Monica filming his television show with his brother. NBC Connecticut reports that Dionne was concerned about the scandal getting into the public eye "due to all the stories in the media and the fact that he is on TV." The New London Day newspaper reported that Dionne's initial reaction to a police officer was, "Oh my God.

This can't be happening.".

Dionne Is Married to Writer Summer-Sage Williams.

Dionne married writer Summer-Sage Williams in Old Lyme, Connecticut, where they now live, in September 2012.

According to her Facebook page, Summer-Sage is a published writer and a 2002 graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic where she studied sociology.

Sage is a native of Windsor.

In March 2015, Summer-Sage published her book, The Little White Flower.

A&E Has Suspended Production of Dionne's New Show.

Dionne is out on bail, according to the NBC Connecticut report. A statement from HGTV said that Dionne had only appeared in one episode of his show on the network in 2015.

While A&E says that the production of Dionne's new show has been suspended.

Houzz reported in December 2017 that Dionne's new show would deal with the twins going to home that "are sitting on the market over 100 days with no offers yet." The first homes to be featured in the show were in Woodland Hills and Thousand Oaks in southern California.

Michael Dionne is based in Los Angeles.

Another home featured on the show, according to We-Ha.com, was in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Dionne Brought 'Financial & Real Estate Skills' to His Reality Show.

The women of the WWE made history on Sunday when they competed in the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match.

After 30 years, the female talent had never had a rumble dedicated to them, and by many accounts, the match exceeded the men's Royal Rumble match.

To prove the WWE is just getting started, ladies like Sasha Banks, Asuka, Nia Jax, Bayley and others will get a chance for another first.

WWE confirmed on Monday the women will compete in the first-ever Elimination Chamber match on the Raw exclusive pay-per-view. WWE. com wrote the following regarding the match:.

"Two Superstars will start the bout while the remaining four are enclosed in pods. At specified intervals, a pod will open at random, enabling a Superstar to enter the match.

This will continue until all six competitors have been released. A Superstar can be eliminated at any time via pinfall or submission, and the last woman standing will be declared the winner and the Raw Women's Champion.".

While the news is extremely exciting for the women of the WWE and, in many ways, the fans of the WWE Universe, this isn't all positive. First, this is a huge disadvantage for current champion Alexa Bliss.

If she remains the champion heading into the event, she'll have to compete against multiple other women in a ruthless match that does not provide an advantage to the champion.

Unlike the men's match where the winner will move on to face Brock Lesnar and challenge for the title, the women's winner will move on to WrestleMania 34 to defend the title. She has a lot to lose.

Second, WWE has a lot of talent on SmackDown Live and it appears these women won't be included in the match.

Charlotte, Naomi, the Riott Squad and others will not be included and their involvement could have made the match even more special than it's already slated to be.

WWE seems to see 2018 as the year to make history. With another first for the women, in under a month, the company is off to a good start.

WWE News - Royal Rumble Weekend Was The Best WWE Has Been In Years

The WWE has been the top wrestling company in the world ever since WCW folded.

But over the past few years, despite having the best roster in the world, the product has become incredibly stale and the poor booking lately hasn't restored much of that faith… but this past weekend has gone a long way to bringing them back.

So let's look back on the weekend that was.

This was yet another epic installment in the NXT series that has become quite honestly the best thing WWE has ever done (in-ring wise). Despite fans sleeping on this one going in, the developmental brand yet again delivered.

The first three matches were good, Takeover-quality bouts, but nothing to write home about, but it was the final two that proved why NXT is so brilliant.

Adam Cole and Aleister Black had a hot rivalry coming in, and although there wasn't any blood or over the top violence, it was a brutal match.

The interference from Sanity and Fish & O'Reilly verged the match into overbooked territory, but looking back, it was done fairly well and helped the match overall.

Cole and Black told a story of a few different paces throughout, but by the end, both men had gone to hell and back, and it bodes well for both of them moving forward.

Cole made his Rumble debut a night later, so it proves he has a bright future, and this should definitely lead to Black vs. Almas at NXT Takeover: New Orleans.

Speaking of Almas, the champion was defending against the hottest performer in NXT, and the best babyface in wrestling, Johnny Freaking Wrestling. Although the outcome somewhat sucked the wind out of the crowd, it was a Match of the Year contender.

From start to finish, these two had the crowd eating out of their hands, and the involvement from Zelina Vega and Candice LeRae helped what was yet another stellar bout for both men.

In the end, Almas was the better man on this night, and one has to now consider that he is a top 10 performer in the entire wrestling business because he's putting on classic after classic at this point.

Following the match, Gargano was attacked by his former partner on the ramp, and Ciampa was looking as vicious as ever, meaning this bout will be NXT's hottest rivalry, perhaps in its history.

Overall, the show was very easy to watch, as every match told a different story, and was very good in its own right, and to add to that, we saw the on screen debut of EC3, War Machine, Candice LeRae and Ricochet, so again, NXT delivers an amazing show and gives us a glimpse into its future.

This show was hyped as a historic one, and by the time "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey appeared late in the night, I was satisfied after a main roster PPV for the first time in quite a while.

Sure, there were things to pick apart on the show (announcing was average at best, not enough investment in some of the lower card matches), but overall, it was another fantastic show for WWE.

The Pre-Show, as usual was nothing to write home about, and for anyone but the most hardcore WWE fans, it wasn't worth watching. But the main roster kicked off hot with The Usos vs.

Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin, and didn't slow down much from there.

That match was fantastic, and went with the 2-0 finish, a change from the traditional 2-1 tiebreaker, with The Usos retaining in yet another fantastic match, which suggests that their 2018 could be as good as their 2017.

There was then the WWE Championship match, that again showcased AJ's brilliance, but it's the result we all knew was coming, and wasn't anything to write home about.

We then had the Royal Rumble match, and while it wasn't the best match in the events history, it was fantastic.

It wove many stories into the one bout, and finally, we got a Royal Rumble finish that we can all agree with.

We saw the return of Hurricane Helms, Rey Mysterio, and the main roster debut (for one night) of Andrade "Cien" Almas and Adam Cole. The fans were incredibly behind Rusev Day, and there was action from start to finish.

We could go on all day about the moments (a personal favorite of mine was the usual Kofi Kingston Rumble spot, mostly because I can't get enough of Big E and his pancakes), but it was all about the finish in this one.

The new generation faced off against the past, and in the end, Shinsuke Nakamura survived John Cena and Roman Reigns, much to the joy of the fans, and we got the announcement we were all waiting for.

At WrestleMania, The King of Strong Style will face off against AJ Styles, and that's worth getting excited about enough.

We then had a RAW Tag Team title match that was decent, with a very well told story between Jordan and Rollins, and a decent hoss battle for The Universal Championship.

Those had the results we expected to likely set up some matches for 'Mania, but then came the main event.

The Women's Royal Rumble was fantastic, and although I have some reservations about how well this can be done in the future (as there was an over reliance on returning Legends in this one), this one had me invested from start to finish.

We saw the likes of Lita, Molly Holly, Vickie Guerrero, Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix and Trish Stratus, and it was exciting from start to finish.

In the end, it was Asuka who outlasted The Bella Twins, and it may have been a focus on the past rather than the future, the right winner was named.

It was the right decision, and leaving the WrestleMania match up in the air following the match will give Asuka even more intrigue going forward.Obviously the biggest moment of the night closed the show, as we saw the debut of Rowdy Ronda Rousey, and it's clear she'll be a huge part of the women's division going forward.

It may have been a bit awkward in places, but we got the message: Rousey is a huge star, and she'll be big for WWE come WrestleMania time.

This was the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania, and we've got several exciting stories with some big matches coming for the Showcase of the Immortals.

With some great, intricate stories being told over the weekend, the WWE is showing that they can book well if they want.

I'm not saying WWE is going to be the best it's ever been, but when you look back on the booking since 2012, it's hard to argue that this was the best weekend in recent WWE history.

It is a good sign going forward that this quality could be a consistent thing.

WWE News - WWE Files Strange Trademark For Merchandise Use

As you see on the independent wrestling scene today, merchandise is a key factor in the business.

WWE, having been around for so many years, has seen the ups and downs and the just-plain weird when it comes to the merch game, but this one is quite odd.

It's just a term that's been trademarked, so we don't know exactly what merchandise they plan to make with it, but the WWE have applied to trademark "The Irresistible Force", and it's got us all scratching our head.

The WWE hasn't used the phrase for quite some time, and it's most famous use was between Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan when WWE claimed "The Immovable Object meets The Irresistible Force" so it's just strange timing for them to do this now.

Granted, The Andre the Giant Documentary just dropped its first trailer (I recommend you go check it out), but still, is there much of a demand for such merch? Logic would dictate no, but you never know and the WWE has worked wonders with their merchandising before.

Either way, this is a thing, and it's happening. We don't know when, we don't know what… frankly, we have absolutely no idea what's going on, but hey, it could work I guess?.

With so many players fit and competing for places, Jose Mourinho admits he has a selection headache ahead of Manchester United's Premier League game at Tottenham Hotspur.

During an interview with ManUtd.com's Adam Marshall at the Aon Training Complex, the manager confirmed his squad did not pick up any fresh injuries from the Emirates FA Cup win at Yeovil Town.

That means the only unavailable players are long-term absentees Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"We have no more injuries," Mourinho happily revealed to us.

"It was a tough match at Yeovil, a difficult match, difficult conditions, but everything is good.".

Asked if that presents a healthy problem for him, the boss responded: "Sure. The real headache is when you don't have the players, so when you have so many injuries then you are in trouble.

When almost everybody is available and the quality is high, these are the good problems to have.".

Mourinho also admitted confidence is high in the camp following a winning start to 2018, with his side yet to concede a single goal in five fixtures across all competitions.

"We have managed to win every match in January, I think three Premier League matches and two cup matches, so five victories makes a happy camp.

We are playing with a good balance. It is not easy to not concede goals because of the high quality of football in this country.

Scoring goals and winning matches is very important because we need points. We are playing well and we deserved these results.".

Wednesday's match against fifth-placed Tottenham will notably be played at Wembley, due to Spurs being without a permanent home while their new ground is being built in north London.

United have an excellent record at the national stadium in recent seasons and Mourinho has won twice there as Reds boss, although the ground was neutral on both of those occasions.

That won't be the case this week and Jose knows that will provide the opposition with an advantage.

"I was at Wembley for Tottenham versus Chelsea and I had that feeling that Wembley is Spurs' home, because it was full of their supporters, said the manager.

I am used to going to Wembley when it is 50/50 with supporters, so it was the first time I went like that. It is an amazing stadium and one for us to enjoy.

"Spurs are one of the top teams in the country. Not a title contender because they are too far away.

But I say honestly they are a Champions League contender, they can reach that level.

They have some of the best players in the country, a very good manager and a very difficult opponent.

"It is a really big game. The difference between us and Spurs is seven or eight points,

but the reality is they are a top team in terms of their quality and ambitions, and a team of our level, so it is a big match.".
