Dear ladies and gentlemen,
there's a dangerous law emerging.
A threat to our civil rights and the way we deal with communication.
They call it the dragnet law. And the Pirate Party is against it.
The dragnet law gives intelligence and security services permission
to monitor and store communication.
Your cellphone, computer, television, watch, smartspeaker…
If the law passes, they can intercept the whole neighbourhood when one person
is suspected of something.
Research has shown that this method of random monitoring
isn't effective in the fight against terrorism.
I want focused research.
The proposal states that all collected data can be forwarded to other countries,
without it being analysed first. Fucking bad.
In some countries the population is being digitally monitored 24/7.
This law is a step in the wrong direction.
When your own security services are monitoring you,
you are no longer free to say what you think of your own government.
The dragnet would also legalize a DNA-database,
which would make genetic profiling possible.
Without a storage time limit. That data will always stay accessible.
Without proper supervision, this law must be sent back.
Mass surveillance on your devices, in your home, is in conflict with your right to privacy...
the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion and belief,
your right to a fair trial and your right to equal treatment.
We have one chance to make clear that we don't want this in The Netherlands.
A vote against the dragnet law is a vote for a better law.
On the 21st of March you can vote during the referendum.
So be informed, think about it and vote.
