Greetings Earthlings! Welcome to the MadQueen Show!
I am your host the MadQueen
On today's menu we have some new info for
you regarding the next generation of Sony's console and as usually, they are not very
original with the names, we're going to call it the PlayStation 5
Rumour has been around for a while: PlayStation 5 is around the corner, oddly
enough this seems to be quite a controversial subject and, if someone has the time please
leave acomment and let me know why, because I honestly don't understand
Why is people so upset that the new PlayStation is near?
If you know how to add two and two together, you've realized by now that according to
the usual life cycle of Sony consoles, PlayStation 5 should be on the market by November 2019,
most analysts and journalists agree that this is the safest date, although the latest news
seems to doubt this date and open the possibility to a presentation this E3
According to a leak reported by the Triple S League who, by the way, have a very impressive
proven accuracy of the 100% right now, multiple game developers from multiple studios confirm
their access to PlayStation 5 dev kits, and all corroborate the same data
According to these sources, the first week of January selected companies got invited
to come to Sony secure site with demos or for meetings concerning the new PlayStation 5
We already know that CD Projekt has been developing Cyberpunk 2077 for the next generation of
consoles as it was explained by the CEO of CD Projekt Adam Kicinski during the presentation
of the financial results for CD Project of the year 2017
So, remember that video I did more than two months ago?
I just remind you because you wouldn't believe how much I love to say "I told you so"
This confirmation of CD Projekt gives a lot of sense to the leak reported by LegacyKillaHD
on past January where he said that according to a source at Sony, they received an early
tech demo of Cyberpunk 2077 to be tested for PlayStation 5
But what we didn't know is that other of the companies receiving an extra love from
Sony and an early access to PlayStation 5 Dev kits was Kojima Productions to develop
an upgraded version of Death Stranding, a game that pushes the limits of the current
generations to a level that shouldn't be allowed without proper cooling in the processor
But this is not a surprise, actually, because Death Stranding is published by Sony
How is it that suddenly everybody wants to release games for two generations at the same time?
Well, the thing is that it all looks like Sony finally decided to catch up on Microsoft's finest game
Detroit Become Human, Marvels Spiderman, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Last of us part 2,
Beyond Good and Evil 2, World War Z, are some of the games that are rumored to be playable
since day zero in PlayStation 5 using PlayStation 4 discs, with enhanced graphics, and enhanced
features by downloading a patch that would improve the game
Ou yeah, Sony, it was about time
Even though Jim Ryan, deputy president of Sony Interactive Entertainment previously
said that backward compatibility wasn't a feature that players tended to use
Because you didn't put it there?
Maybe?
But past week, Sony Interactive Entertainment America updated a US patent that was originally
filed in November 2015, two years after the launch of PlayStation 4, and this update of
the patent says: "Backward compatibility testing of software in a mode that disrupts timing"
This patent, confirmed by the Patent Office, also lists the name of Mark Cerny, the lead
architect and producer of the PS4
This patent describes, through more than 15 thousand words of pure technical jargon, the
tests for backward compatibility more than the results of the technology, so it seems
that Sony finally decided that maybe backward compatibility is not such a bad thing, this
way, they would be able to offer the improved version of games to sell the new console without
compromising the sales of a game, smart move considering that some big titles that are
expected to be "the last big titles of PlayStation 4" like Detroit and Death Stranding are
published by Sony and both push the limits of the PlayStation 4
On past generation, the PS4 dev kits were delivered 8 months before the games to be
developed with this technology were released so 8 months from January would put us around
the usual time of the year that PlayStation consoles are released, with the only exception
of the PlayStation 2 that was released on March
But will Sony have enough time to develop this backward compatibility this year?
They know they can't sleep in the laurels, the Xbox one X that I rather calling Scorpio
is getting a lot of praise and sales and Sony knows that this E3 Microsoft is going to introduce
more games for their most powerful console and they even promised a "Huge Surprise" during
E3 this year
So, yes, Sony knows the competition is fierce, and that they can't wait but, will they
be able to pull it off?
If all of this wasn't interesting enough, we could learn from an events organizer source
at E3 that CD Projekt was given three sets of passes
Guess what that means?
They're talking about Gwent
Three times
Unless they want to mention every single mode of Gwent in different showcases, that's
way too much throne to break, it seems that they're going to introduce Cyberpunk 2077
in their own showcase, and they may even mention this other mysterious RPG they're doing
to be released before 2021, and then they have 2 more passes to show what they're
going to E3 to show, and the safest bet for that is that we're talking about Cyberpunk
2077 being present at both Microsoft and Sony's conference, unless one of the passes is the
CEO of CD Projekt Marcin Iwiński jumping on stage during EA's showcase and showing his middle finger
Not original, he already did that
Putting all this new info together it all sounds like Sony is preparing to give a huge
surprise this E3, and it would be really a surprise because everybody is expecting PlayStation
5 to be in the market November next year
So, I'd like to pass this question to you, with all this information at hand, do you
believe that Sony is ready to stand their ground against Microsoft this E3, or that
there's no way they can pull backward compatibility off and we'll have to wait until next year
Well folks, thanks for watching!
