WWE News - There has been a late new favourite to win the men's WWE Royal Rumble

Normally the bookmakers have quite a good handle on who will and who wont win at the WWE events.

While many might think its a leak that Vince McMahon ought to fix, there have been plenty of times where the WWE has swerved the bookmakers last minute, too.

Anyone remember Zack Ryders intercontinental title win at WrestleMania 32? Or how about Brock Lesnar breaking the Undertakers WrestleMania streak at the 30th edition of the event?.

Still, the bookies did manage to reveal that Randy Orton would win the Royal Rumble last year, and thus, WWE fans and punters alike have been keeping a keen eye on the odds this year.

The early favourites were John Cena and and Ronda Rousey for the mens and womens Rumble matches respectively.

Cena is still the third favourite with Betfair and in the top five with other bookmakers, but it is now believed that the Cena versus Undertaker bout will finally happen at WrestleMania and they do not need to win the Rumble to set that up.

Rousey is currently in Colombia filming a movie and it seems almost impossible she could make it back to Philadelphia to be in the match after posting an image from the set. But, never say never.

Asuka has replaced the former UFC champion as the favourite for the inaugural womens Rumble and her Japanese compatriot Shinsuke Nakamura has led betting for the mens event all week long.

However, another name has now rocketed to the top of the bookies lists on the day of the Rumble, and that name is Braun Strowman.

The Monster Among Men is already in the WWE Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar and fellow challenger, Kane.

However, reports have suggested Strowman may attack someone backstage and steal their spot in the Rumble - probably in the final five places - and go on to win the whole event.

One would think that sets up a triple threat with Roman Reigns and Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, but if Vince McMahon has his heart set on Reigns and Lesnar going at it one-on-one and Lesnar passing the torch, it doesnt make much sense.

Its been common belief that Strowman would face Triple H at WrestleMania and his Survivor Series moment with The Game alluded to as much. Still, if he is the favourite with the bookmakers, chances are they know something we dont.

One of the hottest free agents in professional wrestling today is none other than former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley.

Lashley previously worked for WWE back in 2004 and left the company in 2008. He continued to work the independent circuit in addition to working with IMPACT Wrestling, while simultaneously juggling a mixed martial arts (MMA) career in Bellator MMA.

Now that Lashleys contract with IMPACT is up and he is a free agent he has been shopping around for a new home. Per a report from Wrestling Observer Radio Lashleys negotiations with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) are done.

His return to WWE is now being reported as imminent, and he could debut possibly at either the Royal Rumble as a part of the 30-Man main event, or answering Bobby Roodes open challenge for the United States Title.

Meltzer also said that Lashley could start a program with Brock Lesnar after WrestleMania 34, or even later this year. Lesnars contract with WWE is expected to expire soon, but it will likely be renewed for a Lashley storyline.

He also reported that Lesnar is likely unaware of any plans to work with Lashley, which is a violation of his current WWE deal that states Lesnar must be made aware of his programs ahead of time.

WWE News - Royal Rumble 2018 Match Card, Start Time, Updates & Where To Watch

The Royal Rumble is almost here being broadcasted live from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, starting at 7:00 p.m. ET with the kickoff show starting at 8:00 p.m. Fans can catch the action on the WWE Network.

BROCK LESNAR VS BRAUN STROWMAN VS KANE FOR THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP: The Universal Title match taking place at this Sunday's Royal Rumble guarantees just one thing, destruction.

Whenever any combination of these three men runs into each other in recent weeks chaos has ensued. From scaffolding being pulled down to furniture being destroyed.

The one man of the three who has been responsible for most of that destruction is The Monster Among Men.

While it is expected Brock Lesnar will retain so that he can go on to defend his championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, it's hard to see how exactly the Beast and The Big Red Machine will keep The Monster down.

If Lesnar is going to win then the cover will likely be made on Kane.

AJ STYLES VS KEVIN OWENS AND SAMI ZAYN FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP: This title match may also have three competitors, but it has had a very different build to the one detailed above.

Thanks to AJ Styles talking before thinking about what he was going to say, he has landed himself in a two-on-one handicap match for his WWE Championship.

The Phenomenal One said that he might as well take on both KO and Zayn at the same time so that he can keep an eye on them, and Daniel Bryan granted his wish.

What's most interesting about this one is that Zayn and Owens have said that if they win they will be the first ever co-WWE Champions. We guess that bridge will be crossed if we come to it.

THE 30 PERSON MEN'S ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH: The men's Royal Rumble match may prove to be more exciting this year than it has been for a while.

Going into this match a lot of the time, the eventual winner can be one that is easily predicted. This year, not so much.

Big names such as John Cena and Finn Balor have declared their entry into the match and either of those men could win the whole thing, but so could so many others.

Cena and Elias will likely clash in the match somehow, as will Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy.

There is also the very real chance that WWE has not learned their lesson from the last time the Rumble was in Philadelphia and Roman Reigns is the last man standing by the end of the night.

THE 30 PERSON WOMEN'S ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH: What's perhaps even more exciting than the highly anticipated men's Royal Rumble match is the first ever women's Royal Rumble.

For the first time, 30 females will compete in the over the top rope epic with the winner getting a title opportunity at WrestleMania 34.

One of the best things about Royal Rumbles are the surprise entrants, and this match is likely to have an abundance of them.

All of the fully fit, nontitle holding female Superstars on Raw and SmackDown Live will be competing in the match, but that still leaves 12 spots left to fill.

Who we see return in this one will only add to the excitement of it being the best first yet for WWE's women.

THE USOS VS CHAD GABLE AND SHELTON BENJAMIN IN A 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH FOR THE SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS: SmackDown Live feels like it is in something of a lull right now. Well, not all of it.

The blue brand's tag division is currently thriving.

The Usos and The New Day led the way with their terrific series of matches over the summer and the majority of the blue brand's teams have attempted to answer the call and step up there with them.

Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin floundered a little to begin with, but now, they're right there with them, and Sunday at the Royal Rumble could be their night.

The two-out-of-three falls match between the two teams will be a long one, but if all goes to plan it could very well steal the show.

SETH ROLLINS AND JASON JORDAN VS THE BAR FOR THE RAW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS: There have been plenty of odd couple Tag Team Title holders in WWE history, and right now on Raw, we have another tandem to add to that long list.

When Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan won the championships, it likely left a lot of fans rolling their eyes. Somehow though, they have made it work.

WWE has turned Jordan into the annoying, self-entitled Superstar rather than pushing him Roman Reigns-style and it is currently making for an entertaining dynamic between him and The Architect.

Whether they manage to make that dynamic work again or not at the Royal Rumble, the fall out will be can't miss on Raw the following Monday.
