Waching daily Jan 29 2018

Imagine if every living species in all of North America including humans were

suffocating and unable to breathe because oxygen levels had suddenly and precipitously

dropped.

Every leader, from mayors to governors, would panic.

And then they'd do something, anything, to deal with the clear and present danger.

That precise scenario is now playing out in the world's oceans, according to a massive,

unprecedented research effort published Jan. 5 the first truly global snapshot of depleted

oxygen zones in oceans.

And yet, virtually no one at any level of government seems remotely concerned.

The study, published in Science, is a first of its kind a comprehensive look at how

"dead zones" have increased fourfold, and "low-oxygen zones" tenfold, since the 1950s.

These areas now cover more than 12 million square miles of ocean and extend as much as

200 meters below sea level an area that is larger than North America or Africa.

Much of it is being driven by climate change and industrial pollution.

"If you can't breathe, nothing else matters.

That pretty much describes it," said the study's lead author, Denise Breitburg, who is a marine

ecologist at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.

"As seas are losing oxygen, those areas are no longer habitable by many organisms," she

told the Associated Press.

The study was conducted as part of the UN's Global Ocean Oxygen Network, and another member

of the multi-disciplinary research team was more direct.

"The low oxygen problem is the biggest unknown climate change consequence out there," said

co-author Lisa Levin, a biological oceanography professor at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

Besides suffocating species living in the world's oceans in and around these low-oxygen

zones, the rapidly changing ocean landscape is likely creating complex after-effects everywhere

on Earth not just in the oceans.

To put it plainly: The ocean's "web of life" is certainly being harmed, but so will species

on land as well at some point in the not-so-distant future.

[READ: Doomsday Clock Closest to Apocalyptic Midnight Since 1953]

Oxygen is every bit as critical to life in the oceans as it is to human beings and species

living on land.

But while humans certainly notice when smog or air pollution creates suffocating conditions

in major cities like Los Angeles or Beijing and raise alarms to their leaders, forcing

them to clean up the air hardly anyone is on hand to observe species suffocating

or struggling with similar oxygen depletion in oceans.

The ocean oxygen-depletion study, however, was largely overshadowed by a second study

on coral reefs that was also published at the same time in Science.

While the study of dying coral reefs is important and a vivid, visual reminder of the impacts

that climate change and warmer oceans are having on living ecosystems in the oceans

- it pales in comparison to the implications of an ocean system on Earth that is rapidly

losing its ability to provide basic, life-sustaining elements for every species living in the seas.

We've known about "dead zones" from chemical runoff along coastlines for some time.

They're also more easily observed by people who make their living along shorelines.

But observations of low-oxygen zones out over the oceans, largely driven by climate change,

have been isolated to scientific research.

The report in Science said the two, however, might be linked and that the picture of

the ocean's overall health may be considerably more complex (and dangerous) than previously

thought.

Oxygen levels may be changing too fast for species to adapt, driven by multiple causes

now, ranging from natural variability and industrial pollution to global warming.

The researchers concluded that there may be some short-term solutions, as species migrate

to places where oxygen is more plentiful.

But the long-term implications, they said, could include a collapse of entire ecosystems

in the world's oceans.

"In the short term, [there could be] improvements in local fisheries, such as in cases where

stocks are squeezed between the surface and elevated oxygen minimum zones.

In the longer term, these conditions are unsustainable and may result in ecosystem collapses," they

wrote in a summary of the research.

Regardless of the causes, one thing is clear.

It's long past time for human beings to pay attention to what's happening, right now,

in the world's oceans.

Oxygen loss in the oceans is real, significant and growing.

And it is literally a matter of life and death,

even if humans aren't watching it happen.

Gino D'Acampo launches bid to close off public footpath | news 24h - Duration: 9:39.

TV chef Gino D'Acampo launches bid to close off public footpath beside his £1.25m Georgian townhouse over claims 'fans are harassing' his family - but locals say it provides 'vital' access to a doctor's surgery

TV chef Gino DAcampo is trying to close off a footpath next to his £1. 25million home over claims he is being harassed by fans and fears for his familys safety.

The millionaire chef says he and his family are fed up with people knocking on the door of his home in Hertfordshire, begging for pictures and autographs.

But the pathway next to the Grade II-listed home provides vital access to a GP surgery and patients would be forced to travel four times as far if it were to close.

Gino DAcampo, pictured with his wife Jessie, and children Rocco and Luccian, in July 2010.

TV chef Gino DAcampo, 41, says he and his family are fed up with people knocking on the door of his home in Hertfordshire (pictured), begging for pictures and autographs.

The Italian-born 41-year-old chef, who is known his food-focused programmes on ITV, insists the closure of the walkway in is for the safety of his family.

DAcampo and his wife Jessie, 44, said they have found people in their garden taking pictures and once even found a stranger standing in their hallway.

In a letter to Broxbourne Borough Council, Mrs DAcampo wrote: I just want my family which includes young children to feel safe and secure and have some privacy.

A couple of times I have had people in my garden taking pictures and there are frequent knocks on the door with people asking for pictures of Gino or signed books.

I often get abused in the driveway and it is obviously dangerous for members of the public to treat the driveway effectively as a public space without concern about my family or our visitors car driving up and down the driveway.

DAcampo and his wife, who wed in 2002 and have three children, bought the four-storey Georgian townhouse, which has seven bedrooms, in 2016. DAcampo bought the four-storey Georgian townhouse, which has seven bedrooms, in 2016.

The pathway runs down the side where a door can be accessed. There is a ramp at the end of the driveway which slopes down to a GP surgery for wheelchair access.

But if the driveway were to close, wheelchair users would have to travel four times as far to reach the practice. The DAcampos application has so far had 15 responses - with 14 people rejecting the proposal to close the walkway.

One of the most notable objections comes from practice manager of the surgery, Christine Price.

She said: Many of our patients are elderly and the longer walk around to the surgery would have an affect both on them and the surgery with the possibility of patients registering with other GP practices with easier access.

This driveway was closed earlier in the year and this caused problems to staff and patients. DAcampo and his wife Jessie, 44, said they have found people in their garden taking pictures.

A Broxbourne Council spokesman said of his application to have the footpath closed: The planning application has been received and is under consideration.

Niki Hillier, office manager of Pen Underwriting, said: This is the only disabled access to the offices and surgery as the only other access to goes down a very narrow private road with a small path.

Accountancy firm Croucher Needham is about to commit to a lease of an office in Lime Court and considers the pathway an extremely important access route.

In a letter objecting to the plans, the firm states: As accountants we will not only have staff present in the building, but visiting clients who will expect that public right of way to remain open.

I assume that you are also aware that a doctors surgery and pharmacist operate from the surgery, access via this passageway is vital to their function.

It concludes: Should the council agree to this amendment of this public right of way, then you will agree to closing off access from a dedicated 25,000 square foot purpose built office complex. There is no pavement access to the surgery..

DAcampo rose to fame as a chef on ITVs This Morning after appearing on reality TV show Im A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

He has also presented cookery programmes including Lets Do Lunch, Theres No Taste Like Home and Ginos Italian Escape. DAcampo (second right) appears on ITVs comedy panel show Celebrity Juice with Holly Willoughby, Keith Lemon and Fearne Cotton.

In their application, his wife says she has monitored the publics use of the driveway for months and believes most office workers could easily take another route and there are a couple to choose.

Some elderly are dropped off by the gates either by a relative or taxi for the surgery but they could be dropped off at the surgery, she said.

I really do not feel that the short additional walk for people who have a genuine need to access buildings to the rear of our house would cause any real difficulty or concern.

I truly believe that most people would understand our plight. No one wants strangers knocking on their door, shouting at them, entering their home or garden uninvited, its just not fair on us as a young family and is actually quite scary..

She concludes her application by stating they love being part of the community and has insisted local business and people have been so welcoming.

The couple have been approached for comment. A Broxbourne Council spokesman said: The planning application has been received and is under consideration.

No conclusions have been reached about whether the proposal is acceptable or not, and it is not yet possible to say when the application will be determined.

Tom Brady furious radio host calls girl pissant | news 24h - Duration: 11:17.

Tom Brady abruptly ends interview in disgust after sports radio host called his FIVE-year-old daughter 'an annoying little pissant'

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady abruptly ended a weekly radio interview in disgust on Monday morning after one of the stations hosts previously referred to the future Hall of Famers five-year-old daughter as an annoying little pissant.

It was very disappointing to hear that. My daughter or any child certainly does not deserve that, Brady told WEEIs Kirk & Callahan before ending the interview.

WEEIs Alex Reimer made the remark last week on a different show, referring to five-year-old Vivians brief cameo in Bradys Facebook documentary series, Tom vs. Time.. Bradys family is prominently featured in Tom vs. Time, including five-year-old Vivian.

Brady kisses his daughter Vivian Lake while shes held by supermodel mom Gisele Bundchen .

Tom Brady, left, shouts to the crowd as tight end Rob Gronkowski, right, applauds during an NFL football Super Bowl send-off rally on Monday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough . Tom Brady arrives with his Patriots teammates in Minneapolis on Monday .

It was Patriots porn, Reimer joked about the first episode, adding that he thought it was fine; OK. But Reimer did not stop there.

I thought the first scene was so staged, where Brady is in the kitchen, his kid is being an annoying little pissant.   .

According to the station, Reimer has been suspended and was sent home from Minnesota, where the Patriots will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Sundays Super Bowl.

On Monday, Brady was so upset that he openly questioned whether he would continue with the weekly interviews on WEEI. WHAT IS A PISSANT?    noun 1. a person or thing of no value or consequence; a despicable person or thing. Obsolete.

Ive tried to come on this show for many years and showed you guys a lot of respect, Brady said. Ive always tried and come on and do a good job for you guys.

Its very disappointing when you hear [the comments about my daughter], certainly. My daughter, or any child, certainly dont deserve that.

I really dont have much to say this morning, he continued. Maybe Ill speak with you guys some other time, he said, before ending the interview..

The first episode of Tom vs. Time is about 15 minutes long and Bradys daughter is not a major part of it. Shes mostly playing in the kitchen or having her picture taken. .

The Facebook series offers an inside glimpse at the 40-year-old New England Patriots quarterbacks rigorous health routine as well as a healthy dose of his football clichés.

Theres a warrior toughness about me, Brady said at the top of the first episode, The Physical Game. Brady is featured at home playing with his children, who pose with his five Super Bowl rings.

Alex Reimer (pictured in two selfies from his Twitter account) called Bradys daughter an annoying little pissant last week. He has since been suspended and sent home from Minnesota.

Gisele Bundchen celebrates with daughter Vivian Brady after the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons during Super Bowl 51 at NRG Stadium on February 5, 2017. Brady also gets a bit of advice from supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen.

The two are shown driving home after an embarrassing early-season loss to Kansas City when Brady says to Bundchen that the Patriots were so s***** on the field. Bundchen disagreed and asked Brady to be patient with his new teammates.

You were not s*****, she said. You were just not in sync yet. You dont know each other. Its like building a relationship. The first time you meet someone youre not going to be their best friend.

It takes time to get to know people, she continued. Its going to be awesome. OK?. Judging by the fact that Brady and the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl for the eighth time since 2001, it appears Bundchen was right.

Brady spends much of the episode subtly plugging his TB12 brand and offering up a variety of clichés aimed at explaining why he continues to be so successful at 40.

The joys of winning are great, but I sweep them under the rug so fast, he said. There is a brief moment of time when I enjoy the experience of winning.

Then Im thinking about the next game and Im thinking about winning again.. What a handsome hubby, Bundchen said about Brady as he walked into their kitchen as his five-year-old daughter Vivian plays beside the breakfast table .

Brady is seen relaxing at home and interacting with his family, including son Benjamin  .

Entercom, the parent company of WEEI, recently announced an extension to its partnership agreement with the Patriots, according to ESPN. The deal includes the rights to Patriots Monday, where Brady does his weekly interview.

Reimer is not a regular host on WEEI, instead performing a number of duties on various shows.

In May of 2017 he was featured in Boston Spirit magazines local heroes section, where he discussed his career goals and coming out as gay on WEEI.     .

[Brady] seems a little too tender, a little too soft to the touch  Alex Reimer .

I do journalism, but my goal was always to entertain people, Reimer told the magazine. I wanted to be in the middle of the debate. Ive always liked my voice being out there and my opinion being heard. .

The magazine paints Reimer as a budding media talent.

In November, he also came out publicly on WEEIs Kirk & Callahan, one of the coutnrys most popular sports radio shows, where the 24-year-old Reimer is a clever, quipping and observant cohost, read the article.

Reimer, a past contributor to Boston Herald Radio, now brings an openly gay personality to a decidedly non-PC program in a format and genre still wanting for LGBT representation.

And his particular interest - namely, the intersections between sports and culture - is rife for the exploration that only a smart, savvy, digital media prodigy can bring whether he does it as a jock, or a radio jockey. .

The magazine also asked Reimer who he thought Bostons hottest male athlete was.    .

I always like a jock-douchebag type, so [Jimmy] Garoppolo and Danny Amendola do it for me, Reimer said, referring to Bradys former backup quarterback and one of the Patriots top receivers, respectively. Much more so than Brady.

He seems a little too tender, a little too soft to the touch.. Proud to be featured this month in @bostonspirit's "local heroes" section. If only they knew I lived in a basement. pic.twitter.com/ZFYsClhtaJ — Alex Reimer (@AlexReimer1) May 5, 2017.

Canadian say contracted parasitic hookworms beach | news 24h - Duration: 5:20.

Canadian couple reveal they contracted parasitic hookworms which caused their feet to swell after they strolled barefoot on Dominican beach

A young Canadian couple who recently returned from holiday in the Dominican Republic are warning vacationers not to get the sand between your toes after picking up some nasty parasites.

Katie Stephens, 22, and Eddie Zytner, 25 said that their feet became noticeably itchy in the middle of their week-long getaway to the Caribbean earlier this month after strolling the beaches of the IFA Villas Bavaro Resort in Punta Cana.

[We] found that we were scratching our feet quite a bit, Stephens told CTV News on Friday, adding that they had heard about sand fleas and kind of assumed it was that at first.

Katie Stephens (R), 22, and Eddie Zytner, 25 said that their feet became noticeably itchy in the middle of their week-long getaway to the Caribbean.

After returning home to Ontario on January 18, the couple said he became alarmed when he noticed his feet had become severely swollen.

But after returning home to Ontario on January 18, Zytner said he became alarmed when he noticed his feet had become severely swollen and small bumps had developed on his toes.

The couple decided to seek medical attention for their malady, but the first two doctors who were tasked with treating them were left stumped.

Luckily, a third doctor was able to diagnose their condition, having seen similar symptoms from a tourist who recently traveled to Thailand.

The physician informed them that they had contracted larva migrans, more commonly known as hookworms, most likely as they walked around the beach barefoot.

Hookworms found in the Caribbean can enter into human skin if it comes in contact with an infected surface, according to CTV News.

Doctors said the condition can be treated with a medication called ivermectin, Stephens wrote in a Facebook post about the ordeal. Unfortunately for the couple, they ran into a problem.

We found out that Health Canada had denied our request to receive the medication saying our case wasnt severe enough. At that point, thats when we freaked out a little, she said.  .

The situation, however, was resolved when Stephens mother volunteered to drive into nearby Detroit, Michigan and pick up the medication from the pharmacy. Despite still using crutches, the medicine has provided a marked improvement in the three days since beginning the treatment.

They [his feet] feel better, Zytner told CTV News. They looked a little bit better yesterday. Were getting our bandages changed again… so well have another chance to look at them and see how its progressing. .

The couple said they wanted to post their experience to Facebook to raise awareness in other travelers and possibly help doctors who encounter the condition in the future.

We want to make it known to more doctors what it is, what to look for and stuff because it took us a few trips to the hospital to find out what it was, Zytner said.

Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott "Fighting Over Baby Names" Is Fake News - Duration: 6:41.

Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott "Fighting Over Baby Names" Is Fake News

A report that claims Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are "fighting over baby news" is fake news.

Gossip Cop can expose this made-up story, which was manufactured by a site that's not even sure Jenner is pregnant.

We're told the entire article is untrue.

According to the serial fibbers at HollywoodLife, Jenner and the rapper are "angrily feuding over baby names." The repeatedly discredited outlet then tips off that not only did it fabricate its latest article, but also that it actually knows nothing about Jenner's personal life.

HollywoodLies, as its known, writes that "with her reported first child soon arriving," Jenner has a lot on her mind, including what she and Scott are "going to name their alleged baby.".

Reported first child? Alleged baby? Jenner is 100 percent pregnant and is actually due in just a matter of weeks.

Still, HollywoodLies pretends it has "sources" telling the untrustworthy blog that Scott and Jenner are "not seeing eye to eye" when it comes to naming their "alleged" baby.

An almost assuredly made-up "insider" is quoted as saying, "Travis and Kylie have been at war over their baby name." The often shamed site's so-called "insider" adds that both the reality star and the rapper "have strong opinions about the name of their baby," but Jenner "refuses to compromise with Travis at all.".

The same fake source contends Jenner has "a few names picked out" and is being "stubborn with Travis who does not agree with her choices.

" The concocted tipster further claims, "Travis has his own thoughts on what the name should be," but Jenner "will not give in at all.

So, what are some of the "names picked out" by Jenner? The blog doesn't mention a single one.

OK, since Scott has his "own thoughts on what the name should be," what are some of his top choices?

Once again, the outlet doesn't furnish any examples.

And the reason is simple: HollywoodLife makes up fake news on occasion and often lies about having inside sources.

It appears the site completely manufactured its report about Jenner and Scott "fighting over baby names.".

As previously noted by Gossip Cop and even explained by Kim Kardashian on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," no one is talking about Jenner's pregnancy to the media.

HollywoodLies is being untruthful when it maintains "insiders" are feeding it information about her.

Logically, if the outlet actually had "insiders," it would know Jenner is pregnant and not have to temper its stories with words like "reported" or "alleged."

Also, it know a few of the baby names Jenner and Scott are supposedly "fighting over.".

Of course, the site has a reputation for publishing all sorts of falsehoods about Jenner, including that she was already in labor, retiring from celebrity life, and considering having her ex-boyfriend Tyga in the delivery room when she gives birth to her "alleged baby."

Not surprisingly, the cut-and-paste blog Celebrity Insider picked up HollywoodLies' article about Jenner and Scott "fighting over baby names" without bothering to fact-check it.

Regardless, Gossip Cop still investigated the story and an impeccable family source assures us it's all untrue.

Inside Beckingham Palace! Victoria gives Instagram fans a glimpse of her family's £31.5m London mansion - complete with Tracy Emin artwork, his 'n' hers bathrooms and a £2,700 coffee machine

Most busy families with a six-year-old running around wouldnt dream of opting for pristine cream couches and a sleek monochromatic colour scheme, but when youre Victoria Becham, naturally only the chicest decor will do.

The mother-of-four, 43, regularly uses Instagram to share glimpses into the £31. 5million family home in West London she shares with David, 42, Harper, six, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 15, and Brooklyn, 18, when hes home from New York.

Her latest was a video of 12-year-old Cruz whipping up pancakes in the kitchen, which showed that - in keeping with her fashionistas love of black - Victoria chose dark gloss units for the room, which is littered with on-trend accessories.

Copper accents include a set of pans, the knife block and Dualit toaster, while a £2,700 Fracino Contempo Coffee Machine provides barista standard drinks.

A wall-mounted television means her family of keen cooks, including David, can stay entertained while they whip up culinary creations.

These are often served at the banquet-style wooden dining table with a row of glass pendant lights hanging overhead and a padded bench running alongside it on which Harper sometimes perches for a nap.

David Beckham launches MLS team in Miami | news 24h - Duration: 21:31.

Welcome to Miami! David Beckham FINALLY launches his MLS franchise after years of wrangling as fans celebrate birth of new team as he says: 'I promise you the team we bring into this league will be one of the best teams... the best team'

David Beckhams dream of bringing Major League Soccer to Miami was finally realised today after four years of frustrations which left the former Manchester United star fearing it may never happen.

In front of a packed news conference which included 300 excited, noisy fans, Beckham was officially given the green light by commissioner Don Garber who was delighted to name the Londoner as the proud owner of the Leagues 25th and newest franchise.

The team name, badge as well as staff appointments are still under discussion with MLS insisting an announcement will be made at a future date.

David Beckham has officially launched his MLS franchise after years of waiting to take charge of a club in the United States. In front of a packed news conference which included 300 fans, Beckhams Miami franchise was officially given the green light.

Beckham enjoys his moment on stage during the announcement as he is joined by Marcelo Claure (left) Don Graber (second right) and Jose Mas (right).

The proposed controversial site in downtown Miami which has angered local residents wasnt mentioned once during the hour long press conference.

There are still many question marks and although its expected they wont kick a ball until 2020, soccer fans in the Magic City are already counting down the days.

An emotional Beckham said: I promised my son Brooklyn that I wouldnt get emotional but it is going to be tough.

This is something that has been a dream for many years. I want to thank Mayor (Carlos) Gimenez and we talked about this, thanks for believing in us and for your support.

I joined the Galaxy in 2007 because I saw the potential in the league. I went from Real Madrid, a pretty big club, to a league that wasnt fully established.

It was a big move but commissioner Don Garber explained where he wanted to take the league and I was in from day one.

I promise the team we will bring in will be one of the, if not the, best. There was only one city for me. Diversity, the culture, the weather, the beaches, the people.

Fans and media gathered at the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts in Miami ahead of the announcement.

When Beckham, 42, first announced his intentions on February 5th 2014 to bring MLS soccer back to South Florida following the Miami Fusions demise 17 years ago, not even the most pessimistic of observers thought so much time would pass before his plans came to fruition.

A number of failed attempts to find a suitable site for a soccer specific 25,000-capacity stadium held back plans while local politicians, wary of the backlash from Miami residents following the controversy of building the unpopular Marlins Park baseball arena — which will ultimately cost the taxpayer in excess of $2 billion — dragged their feet.

But with Miami Beckham United (MBU) identifying a plot in Overtown, a neglected area of downtown Miami, and creating a locally based investment team thanks to the inclusion of Jorge and Jose Mas, the South Florida construction magnates, Garber was satisfied that every criteria was fulfilled.

Beckham added: It was very difficult at times, we sat back at times and thought this dream would never happen.

But I dont give up. Nothing in my career or life have been easy. I was told I would never play for England because I was too small and too skinny.

I ended up having a good career but what I try to teach my children is the things get difficult at times, never give in, never give up. .

Supporters gathered ahead of the official announcement on Monday afternoon, many wearing sky blue scarves. There was a sense of great excitement before the press conference when Beckham finally unveiled his plans .

I had people say let it go. The fans just kept me going. They are the reason this is happening today. This isnt just dream for us , but for the fans too and thats the most important thing.

Our fans support has been relentless and thats what our club will be built on. Something to be proud of.

I have had calls from so many players, top players saying, I am in. Yes we want to bring in top players from all over the world but we are most interested in home grown players.

We want to build an academy, to bring players through, young kids from the area. To watch them develop as players. Thats when we will sit back and say job done. That we are proud of this time.

We have to invest into the hotbed of talent in this city. We didnt have the right local partners, passion for the sport, city and people. After just 30 seconds of meeting the Mas brothers I knew this would happen. .

People say this is a city built on dreams. Today you made my dreams come true..

Building in Overtown has caused huge disquiet in the area with residents furious about the local governments decision to erect a multi-purpose arena instead of investing in new housing and amenities.

Bruce Matheson, a wealthy activist who owns land near the Overtown site, has already seen a lawsuit levelled against Dade County following their $9m sale of one part of the former truck depot rejected by the courts.

Matheson firmly believes the lack of a bidding process makes the deal void while accusing politicians of failing to stand up for the taxpaying public.

Former Manchester United star Beckham promised in 2014 that he would build a club that would be loved by millions. He plans to appeal and although a result isnt expected until June, protests against the decision will continue.

Garber added:These are the days which warm our hearts and make us so proud.

Great things come to those who wait and to the fans who have been sending me emails for 10 years and everyone involved, I thank you for your patience.

This is a historic day for Miami and soccer. Its exploding in North America and MLS is driving the sport at all levels. Special things happen to those who persevere. Thats what happened when I first met David.

He said I want to own a team and help grow the game in the US. He said Miami was the place where he wanted to do it.. The delays have infuriated fans and Beckhams team.

Just 10 weeks before the initial 2014 announcement, Orlando City were also granted a franchise and in the time elapsed since, a new 25,000 stadium, described by Garber as a blueprint for the future, has been built.

Orlando have just completed their third season in MLS and have a burgeoning fan base.

This was the first time Beckham has appeared before the media in Miami since 2014 when all the talk was of a sparkling, hi-tech arena in the port area of the city.

Those plans were quickly rejected by the cruise industry while new moves to build next to Marlins Park also failed to materialise ensuring the three times MBU went public with their proposals, nothing came to pass.

Beckham has been working towards an opportunity to be part of an MLS franchise ever since retiring as a footballer.

A new team in Los Angeles — LAFC — will make their MLS bow next season while last month, Nashville became the 24th franchise.

Cincinnati, Sacramento and Detroit are all in the hunt to join Miami and become the 26th of an ever-expanding League.

As MLS has doubled in size during the last decade and added three clubs in Canada, the popularity of soccer has reached an all-time high in North America.

A recent Gallup poll stated that soccer ranks second in popularity as a spectator sport among people 18-34 (tied with basketball) in the US, behind only American Football.

The NFL monster will never be overtaken but dont underestimate Beckhams influence in helping the game grow here even faster than before.

Beckham, 42, is a big name in the States after playing for Los Angleles Galaxy in MLS between 2007 and 2012. DAVID BECKHAMS MLS PURSUIT  2007 Beckham joins MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy from Real Madrid in July.

One of the clauses in his $250million deal is the option to purchase an MLS expansion franchise in any market except for New York City at the fixed price of $25m whenever he stopped playing in the league.

The leagues owners had never given this allowance to a player before. November 2012 Giving his annual state of the league press conference, MLS commissioner Don Garber confirmed that the MLS were interested in placing an expansion franchise in Miami.

He said: We continue to believe Florida needs an MLS team. At some point, I think, it would make sense for a team in Miami.

I dont know when that is; its certainly not now. That market continues to change, continues to evolve demographically.

and continues to be an intriguing market for us. Miami had been without an MLS team since the short-lived Miami Fusion, which existed from 1997 until 2001.

December 2012 Beckham plays his final match for the LA Galaxy, helping them retain the MLS Cup with a 3-1 win over the Houston Dynamo at their own Home Depot Centre.

Beckham had announced in advance this would be his final match and received a standing ovation from the home fans.

Beckham played 118 times for the Galaxy, scored 20 goals and helped them to back-to-back league titles in 2011 and 2012. January 2013 Beckham joins Paris Saint-Germain, signing a five-month deal until the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season.

He helps them win the league title - the fourth different country where he has achieved this feat. May 2013 Beckham announces that he would retire from football at the end of the season.

His final match is a 3-1 home win over Brest, where he captains the team and receives a standing ovation from fans when subbed off after 80 minutes.

Soon after hanging up his boots, Beckham held preliminary discussions with the league about their expansion targets, including Miami.

December 2013 In his state of the league address, Garber identified Beckham and his manager Simon Fuller as potential owners of a Miami franchise.

Later that month, Miami-Dade County commissioners voted unanimously to allow the mayor Carlos A Gimenez to negotiate with the Beckham group over a new stadium in downtown Miami.

February 2014 Beckham exercised his option for a franchise and the team would be based in Miami assuming that financing for a stadium and its location in the city could be agreed upon.

Beckham attends a news conference at Biscayne Bay to announce that he wants to front an MLS franchise. 300 people and about the same number of press watch on.

Supporters from the Southern Legion fan group, founded when the Fusion were around, sing Beckhams name and present him with a scarf. Miami is a vibrant city with a lot of passion, Beckham said.

I know this city is ready for football — soccer — this time around.

I know this is going to be successful. The original idea was to situate the stadium on Dodge Island at PortMiami, but opposition from local businesses shut this down.

March 2014 The Beckham group admitted that the club would not come into existence until 2018 at the earliest, as opposed to initial hopes to start in 2016 or 2017.

They also said the team might have to play its first season in a temporary stadium, possibly Marlins Park, home of the Miami Marlins MLB team, or the Florida International University (FIU) Stadium.

May 2014 The investment group, known as Miami Beckham United, presented new plans for a largely privately financed 20,000-seater stadium on the waterfront in Downtown Miami at Museum Park. However, this plan was blocked by the objections of local residents.

2015 A plan to build the stadium next to Marlins Park fell through, before the owners announced they had acquired land in the Overtown neighbourhood of Downtown Miami. MLS officials approved this nine acre site in December 2015.

May 2015 Miami FC are founded. They are co-owned by Italian legend Paolo Maldini and coached initially by Alessandro Nesta.

They take up residence at the FIU Stadium and enter the North American Soccer League (NASL). In 2017, they won both the spring and fall NASL leagues but lost in the semi-finals of the play-offs.

It remains to be seen how the club will be affected by the proposed Beckham franchise. March 2016 Miami Beckham United began the process of acquiring the six acres out of the nine in Overtown that was privately-owned.

This further delayed matters as deals had to be brokered and raised fears the team may not start until 2019. June 2017 The sale of the last bit of land needed for the proposed stadium was approved. Words by Adam Shergold   .

People try to spot a criminal based on what they look like | news 24h - Duration: 14:51.

Could YOU identify a criminal from their looks alone? People try to pick out felons from a line-up of total strangers - and quickly prove that appearances are VERY deceiving

They say you should never judge a book by its cover - but that is exactly what three strangers were asked to do in an attempt to identify criminals from a line-up of different people from all backgrounds.

In a new social experiment video from Cut. com, the trio of people is seen trying to spot those who look like they might have a criminal record out of a group of eight total strangers.

Allowed to ask just few very basic questions about background - such as how many kids they have, if any, where they now work, and what their home life is like - Madison, Monica, and Darange then had to offer up their thoughts on the persons potential criminal background, awkwardly telling the person their feelings straight to their face.

Experiment: Three people tried to spot who they think is a criminal out of a line-up of eight, solely based off what they look like and what they do.

Unsure: No one knew what the experiment was and what they had to do, including Madison (left) and were surprised when asked to guess which strangers have a criminal record.

Rules: Eight people who were a mix of criminals and non-criminals stood in a line-up and were called up one-by-one to speak with the three people, including Darange (left) who had to guess.

The video, which has already amassed more than 3. 1 million views on YouTube, sees each of the three participants taking their turn at the guessing game, starting off by introducing themselves to the line-up of eight people.

From there, they begin to ask a few personal questions about each persons background, while also making comments on their appearance, from any visible body art - which generally seems to make them believe the person is more likely to be a criminal - to their choice of clothing.

Unsurprisingly, there is a certain amount of awkwardness between each guesser and their subject, with Monica even saying to the cameras: I hope nobody is offended by what Im going to say!  .

But that didnt stop her from being incredibly honest about her thoughts on each person.

One black woman, for example, immediately sparked criminal thoughts in Monicas mind because of her outward appearance; she was dressed in camouflage pants, and a black T-shirt, and had her hair in corn rows.

Monica admitted that, based on looks alone, she would have to guess that this woman was a criminal - however, when she found out that the unnamed woman worked for the Boys and Girls Club, she changed her mind, noting that she didnt believe anyone in that job could have a record.

Info: The people in the line-up were asked a series of personal questions about what their upbringing was like, if they were in a relationship, had kids, and more.

Guessing game: Based off their answers and the way they were dressed, the people in the line-up were evaluated.

Scary: The video, which already has 1,508,051 views and counting, was nerve-racking to the people asking the questions because they didnt want to offend anyone.

Next up was a handsome, well-dressed man who was clean-shaven and looked incredible put together was next in the line-up.

When he was asked about his childhood, he admitted that he had been homeless at 16 years old - a fact which he seemed to feel might have altered the minds of those guessing as far as his potential criminal background.

However most seemed to feel that his appearance more than made up for any other aspects of his background that could have suggested anything suspicious.

Next was a guy with several facial tattoos; perhaps unsurprisingly, as soon as all three guessers saw him, they thought he was a criminal. Madison even said, I feel like your crime was something with drugs.

Another man in the line-up was wearing a pair of jeans and a simple black sweater.

As soon as Madison saw him she said, Theres a side of you that seems creepy to me and I feel like a lot of people dont recognize that..

A labor worker dressed in light-wash jeans, a sweatshirt, and baseball cap approached next. He admitted to being a college graduate and everyone ruled him out.  .

Judging: People were evaluated based off the way they were dressed, and one woman (pictured left in a dress) was a mother-of-three so everyone ruled her out.

Shock: Monica (pictured left) was surprised by some of the answers she was getting and assumed this guy was a criminal because of the tattoos on his face.

Answers: When the line-up was finished, all the folks with criminal records raised their hands, people were absolutely shocked. Winner: Out of the eight contestants in the line-up, Darange got seven correct, while Monica and Madison only guessed two correctly.

After that, a woman wearing a nice silk gray dress and black tights stepped forward. She explained that shes a mother-of-three adopted kids so immediately, everyone ruled her out.

Madison said, I dont think she has a record because she cant adopt if she did. .

Next up was a man dressed in a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and baseball hat. He explained that he sells cannabis for a living and started smoking pot at only nine years old.

He then explained that he moved to Seattle to get away from the gangs and drugs that he was immersed in most of his life, and was really abrasive, saying that anybody that stared at him for too long, he would get in their face and say, do I know you?.

So, of course, based off all the information he provided, all three people said that they do think hes a criminal.

So did you guess right? The results, revealed . Guilty: Kevin, who was dressed nicely, is a criminal and has six DUIs in the state of Washington and a dozen assaults to go along with thefts, home invasions and a larceny charge.

Safe: Alana, (pictured left) is from upstate New York and works at Boys and Girls Club is not a criminal, Akuna (pictured right) is a private event manager and is also not a criminal.

Nope: Michael (pictured) grows cannabis for a living and has been smoking weed since he was nine, is not a criminal.

Once all the people in the line-up were finished, producers asked for a show of hands of all the folks with criminal records. When they raised their hands, people were absolutely shocked. .

Five out of eight people had a criminal record. The nice dressed guy, the woman with kids, the guy Madison thought was creepy, the labor worker and the guy with tattoos, were all criminals.

In the end, Madison and Monica only guessed two people correctly, while Darange got a whopping total of seven correct. After the criminal were revealed, they each shared what happened to them and their stories are so shockingly interesting.

The well-dressed man shared what got him in trouble, Early on, it was definitely alcohol and drugs.

I have six DUIs in the state of Washington and a dozen assaults to go along with thefts, home invasions and a larceny charge.  He also spent almost five years in prison and has been sober for nine years.

Criminal: PJ is covered in tattoos and is a criminal for getting DUIs and reckless driving charges.

Jail time: William makes music for TV and TV commercials and is a criminal who did 16 months in a federal prison for federal tax evasion based on large real estate transactions.

On the run: Warren is a labor worker and a college graduate, and is a criminal for possession of stolen property and was on the run for three weeks.

Not so innocent: Sarah is a mother of three adopted girls and is a criminal and a felon for aiding and abetting someone in possession of a firearm.

The guys with tattoos on his face has DUIs and reckless driving charges, while the creepy guy did 16 months in a federal prison for federal tax evasion based on large real estate transactions.

As for the labor worker, he got in trouble for possession of stolen property and was on the run for three weeks.

The mother-of-three is a felon for aiding and abetting someone in possession of a firearm. She reconnected with an ex-boyfriend and he fired her weapon off in her apartment.

She shared that no one got hurt but the police believed she purchased the firearm for her ex and had to do community service and will be on probation for three years.

Out of the three participants, Madison, Monica and Darange, two didnt have criminal records themselves, but Madison actually did.

She shared, Ive actually been to jail myself. I went for assault and domestic violence. I came home, my fiance was with another woman and I kind of didnt handle it very well. .
