Petra Ecclestone holds hands with Jay Rutland's pal in LA | news 24h - Duration: 7:24.
Petra Ecclestone holds hands with brother-in-law Jay Rutland's pal as she joins sister Tamara for New Year celebrations in LA
She enjoyed a magical Christmas day with her sister and their children at her lavish £148million mansion, complete with £20,000 worth of fake snow.
But Petra Ecclestone, alongside her sister Tamara, was sure to let her hair down on Sunday, as they left their kids at home to celebrate New Years Eve at Catch in LA.
Newly-divorced Petra, 29, looked typically glamorous in a sequin mini dress as she rang in the New Year with her sibling and her husband Jay - but turned heads once again when she left hand-in-hand with her brother-in-laws pal Sam Palmer.
Letting her hair down: Petra Ecclestone celebrated the New Year at Catch LA on Sunday night - and left the eatery hand-in-hand with her brother-in-law Jay Rutlands pal Sam.
Petra showed no signs of strain from an undoubtedly taxing year as she stepped out in a glamorous black mini dress, embellished with sequins all over.
Pulling into one shoulder to tease at her decolletage, the dress then cut off high at her thigh to leave her long and slender legs on show.
She maintained the glamour of the look with barely-there black sandals and a glittering diamanté choker, but also slipped a playful Happy New Year crown on top of her head, as she celebrated the arrival of 2018.
Close: Petra, clad in a glamorous sequin mini dress and playful Happy New Year crown, was spotted leaving the hot spot hand-in-hand with Jays pal Sam.
Revealed: The pair were first spotted together in November, before he was revealed to be luxury used car salesman Sam Palmer, who is old friends with Petras brother-in-law Jay.
The blonde was joined by her sister Tamara, clad in an equally glittering dress and metallic gold bag, and her husband Jay for the celebrations - who have been strong support systems throughout her difficult divorce.
After a night out at the celebrity hot-spot however, Petra was later seen leaving hand-in-hand with Jays close pal Sam, in a slick blue suit jacket and loafers.
Petra was first spotted with the hunk in November, when they enjoyed a stroll around London with her twin sons.
The mystery man was then revealed as Sam Palmer - a luxury used car salesman from Essex who is believed to be old friends with her Tamaras husband Jay.
Family affair: The blonde was joined by her sister Tamara, clad in an equally glittering dress and metallic gold bag.
Stand out in sequins in Tamaras Self-Portrait dress £300 Self-Portrait zip front sequinned mini dress Buy from Selfridges Buy now Tamara Ecclestone celebrated New Years Eve in style as she enjoyed a night out in LA with her beau Jay and sister Petra.

Slick: Tamaras husband Jay also joined the group for dinner at Catch, to ring in the New Year .
Back in the day: Petra divorced husband James Stunt in October, in one of the most expensive settlements in Britains history at £5. 5billion (pictured in July 2014) .
He is thought to have grown close to Petra in recent months, and even enjoyed a sunshine break to Dubai with Petra, Tamara and Jay in October.
Petra is mother to three children; sons Andrew and James and daughter Lavinia, whom she shares with her ex-husband James Stunt.
She divorced him in October, with sister Tamara being a constant support to Petra throughout the proceedings.
Petra and James have vowed to be firm friends following their divorce, which is one of the most expensive in Britains history at £5. 5billion.
Staying strong: Sister Tamara and Jay (above) have been openly supportive to Petra throughout the proceedings.
Slick: Jay looked typically slick and suave in a grey suit jacket and pale pink shirt.
Wife: Tamara took to Instagram to share a shot of herself and Jay, joking that he scrubs up OK.
A Happier New Year: She also said that her best friend Petra truly deserves a good 2018.

Topless woman who attacked groper at Rhythm & Vines talks | news 24h - Duration: 8:15.
Topless woman who attacked a man after he 'groped her' at a music festival defends her revealing outfit - and says nobody has a right to touch you without permission
A woman who was filmed attacking a man for groping her at a music festival has spoken out saying women should be able to walk around topless without consequence.
Madeline Anello-Kitzmiller, 20, was wearing a sprinkling of glitter covering her exposed breasts and a tiny skirt when she was groped by a fellow reveller at the Rhythm & Vines festival in Gisborne, New Zealand.
The American-born woman was filmed walking next to her friend Kiri-Ann Hatfield when a man crept behind her and groped her breast - which led to the pair marching up behind him and launching their own counter attack.
Madeline Anello-Kitzmiller, 20, (pictured right with her friend Katie Ashworth) was wearing a sprinkling of glitter on her breasts and a tiny skirt.
The American-born woman, pictured right with boyfriend Max Ashworth, was filmed walking next to her friend Kiri-Ann Hatfield when a man crept behind her and groped her breast.
The astonishing clip, taken by Giann Reece, shows the pair turn in unison and follow the man back to his perch on the grass before throwing a drink in his face and punching him repeatedly.
Footage of Ms Annello-Kitzmillers revenge attack went viral and she has since defended both her controversial revealing outfit and her reprisal attack.
I stand by my actions and hope that Ive inspired women to feel comfortable in their bodies, no matter how they look, and to stick up for themselves when anybody says otherwise or tries to deny you the right to protect your own body, she told Daily Mail Australia.
He grabbed my breast. I hit him.
There was a lot of built up anger coming from harassment throughout the day.
This happens everywhere, not just New Zealand. .
The Auckland-based woman said she and her boyfriends sister Katie Ashworth had their chests painted at a stall and were disgusted that people thought their outfits were an invitation for abuse.
Footage of Ms Annello-Kitzmillers (left) revenge assault went viral and she has since defended her controversial glittery outfit and the ensuing attack.
She was walking next to her friend Kiri-Ann Hatfield (pictured) when a man crept behind her and groped her breast.
Even while wearing a sheer t-shirt the previous day she said she was abused by both male and even female festival attendees.
Despite the groping incident, Ms Annello-Kitzmiller did not cover up her breasts and continued to enjoy the New Years Eve event until 6am on January 1.
In the end, we are all born naked, and each human is uniquely similar to the next in that we all have a naked body.
You dont look at yourself in the shower and say ew, disgusting right? she said. .
So why should anybody say that to anybody else? A humans body is their own, and nobody has a right to touch you without your consent, regardless of what theyre wearing or the lack thereof.
Revellers at the Rhythm and Vines festival in Gisborne, on New Zealands North Island, watched on as a male attendee (pictured left and right in blue) crept behind and groped a woman (left and right) wearing only glitter on her breasts.
Comments like she way asking for it are promoting rape culture in that people see that and hear justification and violating a humans respect and right to feel safe in their own skin.
Ms Annelle-Kitzmiller also said she has been groped in the past even without wearing a skin-baring outfit.
Regardless, a couple months ago I was groped in the same way while I was fully clothed so the argument is a moot point anyway.
The womans boyfriend Max Ashworth defended her decision to slap her attacker - telling commenters on Facebook he was proud of his partner.
What the f*** happened to treating people with love and respect? Im so disappointed that people are still so ignorant here, he said.
Footage of the incident was shared online and has since garnered thousands of views and a divided opinion on who was in the wrong (Pictured is a shot of the music festival).
The incident was filmed at New Years Eve music festival Rhythm & Vines (revellers at the festival pictured).
Madeline you are a bad ass and Im so proud of you for sticking up for yourself, you are an inspiration to so many people, keep doing what you do.
S she didnt let that ruin our night we literally danced til sunrise and had the best night ever despite everything.
The now-deleted footage was was shared online and garnered thousands of views and a divided opinion on Ms Annello-Kitzmillers outfit.
Well thats what she gets when she wears something like that, one man wrote. Well.
when you are walking around naked youre kinda throwing out a kinda vibe to sort of expect that, another man said.
The iconic New Years Eve Rhythm and Vines festival saw some 20,000 people descend on Waiohika Estate for the three-day event (Pictured are attendees).
The vast majority of support for the topless women came from female commenters.
Dont get how this is any different to groping a girl in a bikini at the beach- still wrong, one woman said.
Good on her! No one has the right to touch you without consent! Naked or not! Learn some manners.
The iconic New Years Eve Rhythm and Vines festival saw some 20,000 people descend on Waiohika Estate for the three-day event.
Even New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern made an appearance at the sold-out camping festival.

How to make the most of 24 hours | news 24h - Duration: 11:55.
How to make the most of 24 hours: Experts reveal why these 10 hacks will make your day more productive
We all have the same 24 hours in the day, yet some people utilize them better than others.
Those who wake up earlier and say no more often have been shown to be more productive and efficient.
Studies have shown that the average person spends three to four hours a day on their cellphones when that time could be spent exercising or planning out the day in advance.
While the hustle and bustle of work and everyday life can make the time feel like it goes by too fast, listening to music and working on one project at a time can optimize the hours you have.
Training specialists Seana Forbes and Bejamin Bulach from Freeletics revealed to Daily Mail Online their tips to effectively use your next 24 hours.
Some of the happiest and most successful people in the world are morning people.
Experts suggest waking up earlier to optimize your time each day . Disconnect once in a while .
Studies show that the average person spends eight-and-a-half hours on electronic devices every day, three to four of which are on their cellphones.
Unplugging and utilizing those hours by going for a run, writing, reading, learning, cooking or meeting a friend would allow you to experience more during that time.
Fitness experts suggest to track how much time you spend on your electronic devices each day and set a limit.
Methods to cut back include minimizing the amount of TV you watch, not checking your email inbox while out of the office and deleting gaming apps from your phone.
Aside from wasting your time, constant exposure to electronics leads to poor sleep which makes you feel groggy and unproductive the next day.
Take a break, go for a walk. Hours are spent at work staring at computer screens and after too much time, the brain becomes less responsive.
Forbes and Bulach suggest taking a break every so often.
A walk really does solve everything and the connection between your mind and feet is stronger than you think, they said.
When you go for a walk, the heart pumps faster, circulating more blood and oxygen to the muscles and other organs - including the brain.
Because walking doesnt require much brain power itself, our minds are free to wander, which can lead to innovative ideas and insights.
Next time youre lacking creativity or cant seem to finish a task, get up, grab your coat and hit the pavement.
Listen to music. There is a reason why listening to music is considered doping.
Many studies have shown that music can enhance the performance of all sports.
It is an additional stimulus to the brain which results in distraction and lower RPE (rates of perceived exertion).
Not only does music make us feel better by improving our mood, but it also synchronizes movements, the trainers said.
The brain and muscles become more connected as music synchronizes them - making the way we move more fluid.
If music is likely to speed you up and make you more productive, they suggest making various playlists for lifes activities.
Boring chores such as ironing, cleaning the car or doing the weekly grocery shopping can be sped up and made more enjoyable with the right playlist.
Listening to music has been found increase performance in sports, improve mood and synchronize movement.
The right playlist can turn boring tasks into enjoyable ones . Work on one thing until youve finished it .
Working on 10 different things at once without getting anything finished is called procrastination.
Forbes and Bulach said: Procrastination practically means wasting time.
They suggest sticking to one project until it is finished by making a list of the things you need to do each morning.
Number the list from one to 10 based on how tough and time-consuming the tasks are.
Then they suggest to start with the toughest and most time-consuming task on your list and work your way down from there, finishing each one before starting the next.
It might take longer, it might require more concentration, but its better than ending your day and having nothing to show for it, they said.
Wake up earlier. Some of the most successful and happiest people in the world are morning people.
If you want to achieve more in your day, its simple: wake up earlier.
Wake up with enough time to plan your day and prepare for it.
Forbes and Bulach suggest waking up two to three hours before your working day starts.
When you wake up later, you spend the rest of your day unprepared and trying to catch up, they added.
They also said you can spend this extra time in the morning exercising so you dont have to do it later.
The morning is when willpower is at its strongest, therefore if youre someone who struggles sticking to a training routine, those few extra hours could be exactly what youve been missing.
Though its easier said than done, getting into a routine takes time and getting used to.
Start now, become a morning person by next month, they said.
Fitness specialists suggest exercising, saying no more often and working on one task at a time to make the most of your 24 hours.
Take a cold shower . If you train in the morning youll know the feeling after a hot shower - relaxed and ready to go back to bed.
If you have a long day ahead of you, that is exactly what you do not want.
BENEFITS OF A COLD SHOWER A cold shower every day could be the secret to a slimmer waist, smoother skin, shinier hair and overall well-being. A study from Amsterdam showed that a blast of cold water in the morning was linked to fewer sick days and higher energy levels. Two-thirds of the 3,000 participants even chose to stick with their chilly regimen once the experiment was over.
A freezing blast of water in the morning will do more than wake you up - it'll boost your brain, too, according to sports psychologist Melinda Nicci.
'When an icy shower hits your skin, the natural reaction is to breathe much more heavily and deeply,' she said. 'This increases oxygen intake and speeds up circulation.
Blood travels to your limbs and organs faster — and brain function gets a boost.' .
Cold showers are increasingly becoming the productivity hack of choice for those who want to add more time to their day.
A few minutes under cold water in the morning could improve your mood, make you feel energized and help you focus.
Cold water has also been shown to boost the immune system and improve circulation.
Though it isnt the most comfortable method, it could wake you up enough to prepare you to take control of the day.
Learn to say no. It may be obvious, but you do not always have to say yes.
Avoid taking on too many tasks and spreading yourself too thin across chores that steal the focus away from your important goals or the things that matter to you.
Saying no is not a sign of weakness. Its a method of prioritization, according to experts. .
Not agreeing to everything you are asked to do allows you the flexibility to say yes when the right opportunity arises.
You will then have the time and attention to put toward the tasks you are passionate about, leading to quality results.
Exercise . Make exercise part of your morning routine.
Exercise gets your brain working and leaves you feeling more ambitious to take on a new challenge that day by releasing feel-good chemicals.
A good workout can help your attention span and your mood by producing the chemical serotonin.
Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that regulates appetite, sleep and mood.
Endorphins are also chemicals produced in the brain during exercise that reduce stress and trigger a positive feeling, similar to morphine .
The more you exercise the more endorphins and serotonin you release!.

What's REALLY behind FAKE NEWS? - Duration: 4:20.
It's the beginning of 2018, and one of the biggest question marks for the year ahead
is who will ultimately win the public's trust: the news media or Donald Trump.
Today, we're talking about why his "fake news" attacks on journalists have proven
so effective.
For much of his campaign and throughout his first year in office, Donald Trump has consistently
attacked the media, constantly referring to the "failing New York times," attacking
the credibility of CNN or the Washington Post, and singling out individual reporters by name.
If news reports are critical of him, he just dismisses them and moves on without any real
consequence.
How does he get away with this?
Well, Trump is a lot more savvy than people give him credit for.
He understands that public trust in the news media has cratered over the past decade, and
most politicians have been so afraid of offending major news outlets that they haven't recognized
how weak they've become.
The news outlets apparently didn't realize it either.
The media has gone from reporting on politics to actively participating in it, and Trump
was the first to really call that out and turn it into an advantage.
He's now saying what a lot of people have been thinking for a long time: that the news
media can't really be trusted anymore.
Personally, I don't believe the media has as much of a political agenda as people may
think.
Sure, the people we see on TV have strong opinions, but the networks themselves are
really just reacting to market forces.
The traditional media—that is television networks, newspapers, and radio stations—are
under increasing competition from websites and social media.
They have to find ways to maintain their audiences while also cutting costs, and for most of
them, the easiest way to accomplish that has been to focus on commentary.
Actual research and reporting is expensive and time consuming.
It requires reporters who know their subjects well, fact-checkers to run down sources, and
editors to enforce standards—all for just one story that people may not even care about.
You know what's a whole lot easer?
Putting together a panel of partisan commentators, and just talking about what other groups are
reporting.
As long as you have watchable personalities, you can squeeze hours of programming out of
very little effort.
Look at the primetime lineups on CNN, MSNBC, or FOX.
Its all commentators because they pay the bills.
At a time when newsrooms are shrinking and actual reporters are being laid off, news
personalities like Sean Hannity or Megyn Kelly are getting contracts worth tens of millions
of dollars.
This is the way networks have chosen to remain in business.
And for a while, it worked really well.
The problem is, we've hit this tipping point where so many groups have adopted this model
that very little actual reporting is being done.
Instead, you have people on air talking about what they think is happening based on limited
information, or laying out hypotheticals.
This isn't news, it's a talk show.
Think about how much time Sean Hannity spends discussing what other networks are covering.
Its not because he's "holding the media accountable," its that its more profitable
than covering real stories.
News organizations are following the same business model as the entertainment industry,
except instead of making kids movies or action movies or romance, they market to people based
on their politics.
If you're a Republican, tune into Fox; if you're a Democrat, try MSNBC or CNN.
Because fact-based reporting is so limited, it doesn't really matter.
Its just an echo chamber.
So when President Trump talks about "fake news," people intuitively understand what
he's referring to.
They have grown so used to—and exhausted with—the media glossing over important stories,
not doing their homework, or blowing nonsense issues out of proportion that real and important
stories are easy to ignore.
It just sounds like more of the same.
President Trump isn't the cause of this problem, he's just the first to effectively
exploit it.
Now, to be clear, there are still great journalists out there doing excellent work, but their
challenge is that the moment they release a story, their competitors and larger networks
simply pick it up, turn it into commentary, and divert all the attention and revenue to
themselves.
As a result, it has become very difficult for hard news organizations to stay in business.
For example, the Associated Press, which provides concrete reporting to almost every news agency,
has been announcing layoffs.
They don't provide commentary, just information, and they're struggling.
What are we going to do when nobody is reporting the facts?

BaekHyun Makes Formal Apology About Controversial Statement(News) - Duration: 2:25.
BaekHyun Makes Formal Apology About Controversial Statement
The recent issue involving BaekHyuns statement about depression triggered frenzy from not just EXO fans but from all K-Pop followers. While its true that BaekHyuns statement might have been misinterpreted by many in an unnecessarily exaggerated manner, his apology shows two things.
First, he is an honorable person with class. Whatever the case may have been, he is clearly being the better man and making an effort to put an end to this wildfire that is causing chaos online at the moment.
Second, he seems to realize that the choice and phrasing of the words might not have been the best given the recent tragic event involving JongHyun of SHINee. Below is the official apology posted by BaekHyun.
Hi, this is BaekHyun. Im posting this because I feel that I should personally apologize for what Ive said during a fan sign on December 30th.
To be honest, Ive been struggling with depression lately and have been in a sensitive state. But after talking about a lot of things with the fan at the time, I started to get worried and scared.
While I was supposed to be here making fans happy, I suddenly realized the seriousness of the nature of the conversation with the fan.
I also felt that if I didnt respond to what she said at the moment, Id never be able to. And so, I acted and spoke too quickly.
I wanted to squeeze as many words of comfort as I could out of myself for her. I couldnt stop thinking about it throughout the end of the fan sign.
I am regretful of not choosing my words carefully at that moment. I only meant to comfort the fans who were going through a tough time.
I sincerely apologize for what Ive said to that fan and anyone else who may have been hurt. I will be more careful with what I say from now on.

C1 News Dec 2017 ,NewsNow
Nottingham Forest sack Warburton. English Championship side Nottingham Forest announced on Sunday they had sacked manager Mark Warburton after less than nine months in charge at the City Ground.
Forest are 14th in the Championship -- the second tier of English football -- and have won just one of their past seven league matches.
Nottingham Forest can confirm that the contracts of Mark Warburton and (assistant) David Weir have been terminated with immediate effect, the club said in a brief statement on their website. Academy boss Gary Brazil has been appointed caretaker manager.
The former European champions (1979, 1980) have lost 14 times this season -- the joint second-highest number of losses in the division.
Wolves bite back as Bennett heads late winner. Ryan Bennetts header in stoppage time completed a remarkable comeback as Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Bristol City 2-1 in an enthralling Championship clash on Saturday that saw both sides reduced to 10 men.
Bennett only came on after Wolves had captain Danny Batth sent off in the first half, and he then headed home Barry Douglass brilliantly flighted late free-kick.
Wolves opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the English second tier over Derby County, who beat Ipswich Town 2-1 earlier on Saturday. Bristol City are third, a further point adrift.
Such is their improvement from last season that Wolves have already matched their points tally for the whole of the 2016/17 campaign. Thats what makes or breaks a season -- moments like that, Bennett told Sky Sports.
Its important we keep our feet on the ground. The staff will make sure that happens, added the former Norwich City centre-back.
Bobby Reid put the hosts ahead on 53 minutes but ex-Dundee United left-back Douglas levelled the match from another free-kick awarded after City goalkeeper Frank Fielding was sent off.
In a fiery contest, Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo was sent to the stands after reacting furiously when a penalty appeal was turned down inside the first 20 minutes.
Derbys superb run of form continued as a Sam Winnall double -- the second a stunning 25-yard strike -- saw them beat Ipswich for their fifth win in six matches.
Ill be honest, I think thats the biggest result of the season for us, Derby manager Gary Rowett told the BBC. We cant control what other people do, all we can do is keep putting other teams under pressure.
Elsewhere, experienced manager Tony Pulis saw his new club Middlesbrough go down 1-0 to Aston Villa, who registered their first win in more than a month.
I knew it was going to be a tough job and its a tough job in lots of respects, Pulis told the BBC.
I havent managed in the Championship in a long time, so its finding out what the league is like, finding out what you come up against. There were surprise results elsewhere.
Birmingham City and Sunderland had managed just 13 league victories between them all year prior to Saturday but both emerged with 1-0 wins over in-form Leeds United and Nottingham Forest respectively.
Birmingham remain rooted to the bottom of the table but Sunderland -- managed by former Wales coach Chris Coleman -- moved out of the relegation zone.
Bolton Wanderers also recorded an impressive win, beating Sheffield United 1-0 away with Gary Madine scoring his eighth of the campaign. The Blades now look a shadow of the side that set the early pace this season and are sixth.
Wolves extend lead despite draw. Wolverhampton Wanderers extended their lead at the top of the English Championship to eight points despite a draw with Millwall as Cardiff crashed to defeat at home.
Nuno Espirito Santos league leaders were forced to settle for a point at The Den as Millwall defender Jake Cooper headed home a second-half equaliser in a pulsating 2-2 draw.
Lee Gregory had put the home side ahead in the first half but Diogo Jota levelled and Romain Saiss then handed the visitors the lead after 56 minutes.
Despite the slip-up in the early kick-off, Wolves still increased their unbeaten run to 10 games and the point proved to be valuable due to Cardiffs 4-2 defeat at home to Fulham.
Tim Ream and Floyd Ayite put the Cottagers 2-0 up after 56 minutes before a stunning strike from Kenneth Zohore reduced the deficit at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Ryan Sessegnon made it 3-1 in the 78th minute and Stefan Johansen capped the victory after Callum Patersons header in added time briefly gave the Bluebirds hope.
Bristol City moved above Cardiff on goal difference and into the automatic promotion places after a 2-0 win against Reading at Ashton Gate.
Substitute Jamie Paterson curled in a stunning effort in the 68th minute before being replaced by Lloyd Kelly, who sealed the points in added time to extend Citys unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.
Birmingham remain rooted at the foot of the table, three points adrift of safety, after a 2-0 defeat at home to Norwich.
Tony Pulis watched on from the stands as Middlesbrough beat second-bottom Bolton 2-0 in the first game since Garry Monks departure.
Former West Brom chief Pulis was appointed as Boros new boss earlier on Boxing Day but the match was overseen by caretaker manager Craig Liddle.
Sheffield United claimed their first win in seven games while Sunderland remain in the relegation zone following a 3-0 defeat at Bramall Lane. Leeds came from behind to beat Burton 2-1 and extend their winning run to four games.

QPR midfielder Josh Scowen was sent off in a 0-0 stalemate at Ipswich while Barnsley played out a goalless draw against Preston and Hull and Derby shared the points in a 0-0 draw.
In the late game, Brentford edged Aston Villa 2-1 in torrential rain at Griffin Park.
Villa substitute Josh Onamah cancelled out Romaine Sawyers opener for Brentford before the break before Lasse Vibes effort early in the second half proved to be the winner.
Brentford have lost only two of their last 16 league matches while Villas winless run was extended to five. Pulis replaces Monk at Middlesbrough. Tony Pulis replaced Gary Monk as manager of Championship side Middlesbrough on Tuesday.
Monk was sacked on Saturday, hours after his sides 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday.
Pulis has been out of work since November when he left Premier League strugglers West Brom and was also a target for Wednesday before Middlesbrough won the race for his signature.
Middlesbrough won 10 of their 23 league games under Monk, who took charge in June. The team are ninth in the second-tier table, three points behind Aston Villa, who occupy the final play-off place, ahead of Tuesdays game against Bolton.
Pulis will watch the Bolton match from the stands at the Riverside Stadium, with academy manager Craig Liddle taking charge of the team before the 59-year-old officially starts work.
Were delighted to appoint Tony as our new manager. His experience and knowledge speaks for itself and he has a tremendous track record, Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson said.
Were excited by this appointment and by what Tony can bring to this football club. There was strong interest from two other clubs, and were delighted Tony has decided to join us.
Theres no disguising that 2017 has not been a happy year for any of us, but weve refocused and were looking forward to the future.
Pulis was sacked by West Brom after mounting fan unrest following a run of 10 games without a win.
Albion supporters were underwhelmed by Puliss dull tactics, but the Welshmans track record throughout a managerial career lasting over 1,000 games is mostly impressive given the lack of resources available in many of his jobs.
Middlesbrough will be his ninth club in a career that also included spells with Bournemouth, Gillingham, Bristol City, Portsmouth, Stoke, Plymouth and Crystal Palace. Carvalhal leaves Sheffield Wednesday. Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal left the Championship strugglers by mutual consent on Sunday.
Carvalhal guided Wednesday to the play-offs in his first two seasons at Hillsborough, but a miserable seven-match winless run has cost him his job.
The Portuguese coachs exit came just hours after Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri released a statement of support after fans chanted for Carvalhals dismissal in the wake of Saturdays 2-1 home defeat to Middlesbrough.
Thai businessman Chansiri changed his tune less than 24 hours later, saying: Both parties believe the time is right to go our separate ways.
I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Carlos for the time, effort and commitment he has given Sheffield Wednesday over the last two and a half years.
I maintain a huge amount of respect for Carlos as a coach and as a person and he will always be welcome at Hillsborough. I wish him every success in the future.
Lee Bullen will take charge as caretaker boss for the game at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday as Wednesday start their search for a new boss. Carvalhal arrived at Wednesday in 2015 after being out of the game for three years.
But he proved an astute selection as in his first season at the helm he took the Owls to within 90 minutes of a first Premier League return in 16 years, before they suffered a play-off final defeat to Hull.
He delivered a second successive play-off campaign last season, but that one ended in a semi-final defeat to Huddersfield. Wednesday are currently languishing in 15th place, 11 points off the play-offs.
Middlesbrough axe Monk just hours after victory. Middlesbrough sacked manager Garry Monk just hours after his Championship sides 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Monk only took charge at Middlesbrough in June, but the former Swansea and Leeds boss was unable to mastermind the expected promotion challenge.
Middlesbrough, who won 10 of their 23 league games under Monk, are ninth in the second-tier table, three points behind Aston Villa, who occupy the final play-off place.
Middlesbrough Football Club have parted company with manager Garry Monk, the club announced in a statement following the come-from-behind win in Sheffield.
Monk managed Swansea in the Premier League between 2014 and 2015 before helping Leeds to a seventh-placed finish in the Championship last term.
He was unable to agree an extension to his stay at Leeds under new owner Andrea Radrizzani, leaving last May before swiftly taking up the reigns at Boro.
Middlesbrough had hoped to bid for automatic promotion under Monk, having been relegated from the Premier League in May. But they are far adrift of that target and have reacted by relieving Monk of his position two days before Christmas.
The club would like to thank Garry for all his hard work and dedication, and wish him all the best for the future, the statement said.
The clubs academy manager Craig Liddle will take temporary charge of first team affairs during the interim period while a successor is appointed. Middlesbroughs first match without Monk is at home to Bolton on Tuesday.
Maja strikes to end Sunderlands home woes. Teenager Josh Majas second-half goal gave Sunderland their first home win for almost a year, as they edged out Fulham 1-0 in the Championship on Saturday.
The 18-year-olds goal -- his first for the club on his league debut -- also lifted the Black Cats out of the bottom three and continued their revival since former Wales coach Chris Coleman took over as manager.
Victory came 364 days after their last home win, when they beat Watford in the Premier League. I am really happy for a lot of other people at the moment, said Coleman.
We have been here a few weeks, we have inherited a lot. The people already here, and the supporters, they have been suffering throughout the year without a home win. I am really pleased for them..
Coleman, who left the Wales post after they failed to reach next years World Cup, said it was great to bring a stop to the 21-game winless streak at the Stadium of Light.
However, he added the bigger picture was to avoid a second successive relegation. Its a great feeling and they need to enjoy it because they deserve it, said Coleman. Its nice to get rid of an unwanted record, if you like.
But from my view it is only three points. Its a small win for us, a positive day but we are not getting carried away. We know what is ahead, thats for sure..
Another dire record also came to an end as Queens Park Rangers beat ailing Birmingham City 2-1 away -- their first win in 18 matches on the road since February when they beat the same opposition.
Jack Robinson was the unlikely match-winner with a brace, his first ever professional goals, as Birmingham slid to the foot of the table.
Bristol City maintained their superb run of form with their seventh win in nine matches, beating Nottingham Forest 2-1 to stay third, eight points adrift of leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, who beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 on Friday.
Derby County moved four points clear of Aston Villa in a battle of fourth against fifth with a comfortable 2-0 win -- former Villa man Andreas Weimann getting the opener.
However, sixth-placed Sheffield Uniteds poor run continued as they slipped to their third successive defeat, losing 1-0 at Preston North End.
We have to find a way (to get back to winning) -- were in a little bit of a hole and we need to get out of it, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder told the BBC.
I need to get into the players, which I will do, and we need to find an answer because were not used to this and were not enjoying it.
