So we arrived in Mexico a few days ago...
We are in a city called La Paz, at the tip of Baja California.
We rented an apartment through Airbnb.
We're going to stay here about 10 days.
During these 10 days, the idea is to work on our stuff.
Finding work, I also have an online job.
We're editing videos, writing blogs...
Alright, we found the market, the organic market.
And there's also some artisanal handicraft.
I think we're just going to walk around and take a look...
We're looking for some vegan tamales and uhm...
We can't find them, eh?
No! Apparently, today they don't have them :(
Yeah...
It's a toasted cricket.
Toasted??
What is it exactly?
It's Chapulin from Oaxaca.
And... you want to taste it?
"Tabarnac" (Québecois way of saying "oh damn")
Is it delicious?
Yes it's tasty. It's kind of like...
Shrimp.
But like a "potato chip" consistency.
Alright, we're a bit disappointed because we didn't find the tamales.
They had tacos and burritos but we really came for the tamales.
Especially since we're really good at cooking our own tacos.
The people are so nice and welcoming.
And it's cool because I didn't feel any pressure to buy anything.
He was just willingly explaining everything to us!
You know, waxing shoes is a pretty common job here.
The guy is here every day with his stand, waxing people's shoes...
And uhm...
I mean...
In the end, it's a job that is as valuable as others.
The bus cost 10 pesos each.
Which is about 65 cents (CAD)
Day of the Dead
(Last day in Baja California) Today, we're leaving our apartment in La Paz.
We stayed here 2 weeks.
Such a great find.
30$CAD per night. We found it through Airbnb.
There's A/C which really saved us because it's like 38°C every day here.
It's a big apartment, it's nice, it's modern...
It's tastefully decorated.
We were so comfortable here.
The reason why we stopped for this long was to concentrate on editing on YouTube videos.
So let's just say this sofa was very well used!
We're going to take the ferry to the mainland all the way to Mazatlán.
So I'm going to give you a little tour of our apartment.
So these are the stairs that lead up to our entrance...
And here's our beautiful blue door.
And here's what you first see.
The living room.
A lot of natural sunlight coming through, which is nice.
And as you can see we have all our bags on the table because we're leaving in an hour...
But this is where we had our meals.
We had an oven/stove, a sink, everything you need to cook your meals...
We had a tiny fridge but it did the trick.
And here's our bedroom.
Very comfortable this one, I'm going to miss it for sure.
And the bathroom.
Don't worry, you can close the door here.
But yes we also had a patio!
But I'll come back to that.
So here's the bathroom...
The shower...
And yeah we have a hammock!
There are holes in it but it's still useable.
Sometimes I came out here during the day to take a sun bath...
And here's the view, would you look at that...
Ok now the final section of the apartment...
And it's just outside...
It's this sort of a laundry room.
This was my favorite combo for the last 2 weeks.
Lime corn chips and this Corona "familiar" beer.
Honestly, I think this was my favorite Airbnb ever.
Oh yes, for sure. We had privacy...
Privacy, a convenience store with beer at the corner, there's the grocery store right there...
We had everything we needed to stay put and work productively.
As I mentioned, we were not here on holiday, to go swimming...
We were truly here to work every day and be productive.
And also just take a break from being tourists.
Because we did activities non-stop in our first month of the trip.
Bye bye apartment!
We will miss you.
I will really miss this place.
