Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News - I'm Oli Davis
Daniel Bryan's Favorite Movie No matter where Raw or Smackdown is taking
place in the world, WWE always manage to put up a few home comforts backstage.
A framed WWE Magazine cover here, a Jetsons movie starring the Big Show poster there.
But one picture has been more heavily featured on Smackdown than any other in recent months:
the movie Pure Country Pure Heart, a WWE studios production starring Shawn Michaels, that was
released on the 1st August last year.
When asked about the poster's almost eerie omnipresence backstage on Twitter, Daniel
Bryan replied: "Because it's the greatest movie that
ever was.
Don't draw attention to it or they will make me take it down #PureCountryPureHeart"
HUGE Return For TNA While we'll have to wait until September
to see if Bryan packs up his Pure Country Pure Heart poster and returns to Ring of Honor
when his WWE contract expires, we can enjoy at least one big wrestling return right now:
the four-sided ring has returned to TNA Impact Wrestling!
With more back-and-forths than Big Show's had unexplained heel and face turns, TNA actually
started out with a four-sided ring when the promotion was first founded in 2001.
When their weekly TV show Impact started in 2004, they debuted the infamous six-sided
ring.
This reverted back to four sides when Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff took over in 2010,
and then back to six sides when fans voted for its return in 2014.
While a very distinctive feature, some wrestlers have complained about the six-sided ring being
physically harder to work in - as taking bumps on it can be more unforgiving - and others
just aren't a fan of the shape.
And it looks like Don Callis and Scott D'Amore - the latest people in charge of the promotion
after Jeff Jarrett was let go last September - are in the latter camp, as at their first
set of TV tapings, they've announced Impact will once again use the four-sided ring.
And that isn't the only big change the latest new regime has brought back…
Austin Aries Returns To TNA ...as former WWE wrestler and ex-TNA World
Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries has returned to the promotion.
A return announced on TNA's official Twitter account, from the first night of tapings for
Impact episodes which have not yet aired.
So be angry at them for the spoilers this time.
Aries had previously wrestled for TNA from 2005 to 2007, and 2011 to 2015 - where he
became the promotion's fifth triple crown champion, holding the Heavyweight, X Division
and Tag Team belts at various points in his career.
And now, on the first night of his return, Impact Wrestling have also announced with
the headline 'WTF question mark, exclamation mark, question mark', that "Aries was
able to defeat Eli Drake and is now Global Champion!
It will all happen on IMPACT in the coming weeks."
Aries signed with WWE in 2016, where he wrestled in NXT and their Cruiserweight division, but
he was released in July 2017 after reportedly being unpopular backstage.
His 90 day non-compete clause expired on October 5th, 2017.
