Hey gamers!
Gian here, host of VGATW.
You know, it's not very surprising on how Konami continues to dig it's own grave.
I remember that with the cancellation of Silent Hills as well as Hideo Kojima's departure
from the company as well as Konami preventing him from assisting the Video Game Awards of
2015 and going from gaming consoles to adding it's best titles like Contra, Metal Gear Solid,
and Castlevania to pachinko slots.
Although we got Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain on the PS4 and Xbox One.
Now, this game Metal Gear Survive is Konami's latest title that drifts away from the Tactical
Espionage Action game that made the franchise one of the most universally acclaimed game
series of all time.
At Tokyo Game Show (TGS) in September 2016, a demo revealed that the Fulton Cannon will
make an appearance, that the player can optionally retrieve the creatures for resource building,
they can acquire resource building, that they can heal themselves on the main menu, and
that the player can develop various things from collected resources, from defensive measures
to offensive measures.
The players can also split up.
During a stage presentation at TGS 2016, Hideo Kojima was asked if he had anything to do
with Metal Gear Survive.
He stated that the game had "nothing to do with [him]," the Metal Gear series is about
"political fiction and espionage," and zombies do not fit into his vision of the series.
Yoji Shinkawa also stated that he was not involved with the game.
He jokingly said that Metal Gear Survive would have mechs if he worked on it.
This one is a zombie killing survival action-adventure game set in an open world environment and
played from a third-person perspective.
It also features cooperative multiplayer mode, in which the player can be joined by up to
three other players to explore the game's world and to complete missions.
It can also be played solo, in which the player will be accompanied by three AI teammates,
which the player can give orders to.
And now, here's the latest ladies and gentlemen.
Metal Gear Survive will require an Internet connection in order to take part in the zombie-slaying,
a move that\rquote ll likely alienate even more Metal Gear players amid an already controversial
launch.
Man, it seems that this game will be a major disappointment since of course Kojima is the
one that turned the series into an icon.
Another thing is that The official game page for Metal Gear Survive is now up for gamers
to peruse, but navigating to the "Products" section of the site where it will soon be
available for preorder will lead you to a troubling detail about the game's requirements.
An asterisk beneath the potential number of players indicated that an Internet connection
would be required to play the game with no mention of that restriction being exclusive
to online play.
A PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscription are also required for online play on the respective
platforms.
Requiring Internet to play a game isn't something that's exclusive to Metal Gear Survive or
a new idea, but it's a decision that often doesn't go over well with those who want the
freedom to play their games offline if the need arises.
The game is scheduled to arrive on February 20th of next year.
Man, I gotta say I am already disappointed in this.
As a Metal Gear fan since the summer of 1999, this is something that I refuse to play since
not only it requires Internet, but also because it gets away from the vision of Kojima.
Metal Gear Solid is not just an espionage game but also a political fiction.
As a gamer I will never forget the good days of Konami with games like Contra, Castlevania,
Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games and tons of other great
titles like Suikoden as well.
Anyway folks, I'm sure you want to express some disappointment at this and if you approve,
that's fine I'm not gonna stop you from doing so.
So just don't forget to comment, share, subscribe and rate.
This is Gian, host of VGATW, have a Happy Halloween.
