It's blurry when I start a painting.
It always starts with an outline. In doing a lot of sketches
I often find the idea that I think is the most interesting.
Then at that moment I start to do a more developed painting.

Often it's the people who see the paintings
who give me
their own interpretation
for what they could mean.
People say, "Ah, that makes me think of..." this and that.
It gives me another way of seeing the painting.
Then after that I have a better understanding
of the meaning of the picture.
There is often a little boy in the paintings
who is not really me but
who resembles me a bit or...
it's a character who I can identify with.
It allows me to really get into the work.
I have a two year-old daughter.
So more and more there are girls in my paintings because of that.
The most popular one is the
"La Danseuse"
Actually it's one of the first paintings I did
after my daughter was born.
I'm trying to express, in this painting, the feeling of being the protector of my daughter.
The newest one would be "Bonne Nuit."
Which is a painting that
kinda also represents my relationship with my daughter.
I often imagine her
in different paintings.
then I imagine things around her
and that allows me to put more girls in my paintings.
