here we go with another shout out Monday evening and today's acronym is some fun
so let's see what this is all about I'm Tom Kvichak and this is Toms Trains
and Things this channel was created to help other modelers who are in need of
guidance in pursuing their dream of building a model railroad and I do this
every Monday evening so I could feature another modeler who would be of help to
all the beginners and those of you have been out of the hobby for a while and
want to learn more about model railroading and catch up on everything
before we get started on this I'm gonna tell you what the acronym is some fun
shout out Monday evening featuring useful news and why do we feature useful
news on here because you need to learn everything about model railroading that
you could grasp so this is what this channel is all about now before we get

other than CSXMAD now I know a lot of you have already subscribed to him and
that is a good deal because this gentleman has a lot of good videos on
here and he takes his time to explain everything step-by-step about everything
that he is doing on his layout as far as building buildings of bridges his bench
work his Road bed everything on here is documented with great detail and I think
it would be a great idea for you to check out his video CSX mad
Robert he has a lot of good stuff on here and you could learn a lot from him
so go ahead hit his subscribe button and while you're at it ding that Bell so you

later on this month or I should say this is still February but later on in March
we're going to be doing videos on Arduino I had to catch up a little bit
on the sketches and how to program on the sketches I did a lot of programming
well not a lot of it about 20-30 years ago with C and what they use in the
sketches for Arduino is also C and with a little bit of C plus plus for the
where the libraries so I had to do a little bit of catching up on the syntax
and everything like that before I could show you how to do it now
there's a lot of a lot of projects on here that we could do I know that they
did it on YouTube model builders on their live show and I'm going not going
to try to copy what they do I'm just gonna try to do something different and
explain this to you like step by step on how to do it I have one here that I
bought about four years ago I think I mentioned this in another video about
four years ago it's make special edition it has an SMD chip on here the atmega328
chip in the SMD version of it it a lot smaller yeah the other chip is it takes
up about it's all this space right here but anyway I showed that to you on
another video also but anyway we're going to do some on here I noticed that
there are some shields that were specially made for
the Arduino and a model railroading so let me pull them up for you right now
well let's call this a double shot out because I'm going to shout out this
place also Iowa scaled engineering which let me bring close-up on it they have a
lot of boards and shields that'll fit right up on top of the Arduino Uno board
that's are specifically for model railroading a 16 channel 24 bit ADC data
acquisition shield for Arduino 16 channel relays 40 channel 12 C digital
i/o expander ECC decoders shield for Arduino this is one I'm interested in I
just ordered something else from them once I get my order in I'm gonna order
one of the DCC decoder shield for Arduino now this is a receiver it and
not run anything but it can be used as a decoder from your Arduino so you could
send a man's from your throttle to this shield through the Arduino to do things
on your model railroad that's what I'm interested in and I'm gonna buy one of
these pretty soon and figure out how to use it and show you how to do it on
there but this is pretty interesting they got a lot of good stuff on here for
the electronic hobbyists or if you want to do some do-it-yourself things on your
model railroad so I would suggest you take a look at Iowa scaled engineering
also because they have a lot of good stuff on there and we'll be doing
something with them later on in March maybe in April like I said I just
ordered something from them this past weekend and it's already shipped and you
know to 7 to 10 business day you USPS thing so it'll take about a week to get
here but anyway once I get that I'll be doing something on that because I said I
was going to do something on servos or operating your turnouts so that's coming
up in this month and I'm going to doing some with Arduino and servos
though we'll be doing it with this and like I said I had the atmega chip and
I'm going to be doing a homemade one on there also so that's all we have for now
we'll see what this sounds like ah yeah and I got all kind of delay on there so
