What's up, guys?
Frazier here for Complex News.
Last May, FX announced it would be teaming up with the Brothers Glover , Donald and Stephen
and his brother Stephen to produce an animated Deadpool TV series.
At the time, an FX spokesperson told Complex that the network was looking forward to seeing
how Glover was going to be able to bring the series to life.
The expectation was that FX would drop a 10-episode debut season of the show in 2018.
But on Saturday, FX revealed plans had changed.
In a surprising development, the network announced it was no longer working with Glover and his
brother on the series in a short statement.
"Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover, and Marvel Television
have agreed to part ways on Marvel's Deadpool animated series.
FX will no longer be involved with the project."
The statement led to a lot of speculation about the real reason behind the split.
Many media outlets suggested that Donald may simply be too busy at this time to focus on
the Deadpool series.
Season 2 of Atlanta premiered in early March, and press for that has obviously taken up
much of Glover's time in recent weeks.
Donald is also involved in the live-action Lion King remake that's set to hit theaters
in 2019 as well as the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story film.
Donald of course has a lot going on outside of Hollywood, too.
As Childish Gambino, he's gearing up to hit the road with Rae Sremmurd this year, and
he's hinted at a new album as well.
But despite all his EGOT shit going on, Donald is adamant that he was not too busy to tackle
writing scripts for Deadpool.
While he didn't respond to the initial news of him parting ways with FX over the weekend,
he made a rare appearance on Twitter early Wednesday morning to reveal that he was more
than ready to devote the necessary time and energy towards making the Deadpool series
a hit.
He wrote:
"For the record: i wasn't too busy to work on deadpool."
He then shared a hilarious full script for the season finale of the Deadpool series to
prove that he was more than ready to handle the job.
The script featured references to everything from Bitcoin to Black Panther and even...
who bit Beyoncé, which SEEMS to suggest Donald wrote this shit yesterday.
If you want to read the script for yourself, which is, unsurprisingly, very solid and entertaining
you can go and check it out on his Twitter page.
In the meantime, it's unclear what the future holds for the Deadpool series.
To be honest, if a Twitter script is this good, Donald may have just forced FX's hand
to bring he and Stephen back into the fold, but we'll see.
