What's up Bulls!

I'm Annette, and this is News in 90.

It's that time of year again!

The 2018 Student Body Elections are up and running.

Students choose their president, their senators, and other representatives every year.

Last Monday, the first of two Presidential Debates streamed on the Student Government

Facebook page.

Hannah went around campus to ask students what they think about the election process.

Let's take a look.

Election season is when students learn what each candidate has to offer.

What do you think about the elections this year?

Well this year's elections, it seems to be less aggressive than in the past years.

You didn't really see as much of like students campaigning like all the way down the line.

There's a lot of polling locations all over campus, so that's encouraged students to

go out and vote.

You know, it's pretty amazing to see the students and the different entities, go out

and be more interactive with each other.

I learned about this like a few minutes back and I saw they were giving away free t-shirts,

so that was my incentive.

I really like how accessible it is to be able to vote.

I've been seeing voting booths everywhere.

And they have the candidate profiles, which was really useful.

Oscars: Critic's Pick of Favorite Best Picture Winners | THR News - Duration: 2:37.

The 90th Academy Awards are almost upon us, and what better way

to celebrate nine decades of Oscar then by looking back at the top winners?

The Hollywood Reporter's chief film critic Todd McCarthy has picked his

ten favorite all-time best picture Oscar winners, and here they are, in chronological order.

First up, what would this list be without 1942 classic 'Casablanca?'

As McCarthy puts it, "Time goes by, but this wartime classic about a

cynical nightclub operator roused to love and patriotic

engagement has lost none of its romantic appeal."

William Wyler's 'The Best Years of Our Lives' came along in 1946,

and the "account of the personal toll of WWII on returning soldiers and their

families still packs an emotional wallop," according to our critic.

McCarthy points out that 'Mad Men' could never have existed without

Billy Wilder's 1960 film 'The Apartment,' which is notable (especially

from today's perspective) for "its acute presentation of women's

limited options, and great vulnerability, in that culture."

Our critic wonders how Steven Spielberg's announced remake could

"even approach the brilliance of the Jerome Robbins-staged musical numbers"

in 1961's 'West Side Story.' Until we find out,

we'll keep rewatching this Best Picture winner.

McCarthy says David Lean's 1962 masterpiece 'Lawrence of Arabia' has

"decidedly stood the test of time, having won over generations

of new admirers more assuredly than any other pre-1970s film."

How did Francis Ford Coppola succeed beyond all expectations with

1972's seminal 'The Godfather?' Our critic puts it like this:

by "applying the most masterly style and technique to a low-down potboiler

crime story and making it emerge as something akin to Shakespeare."

1974's 'The Godfather Part II' also took home best picture for a sequel

that McCarthy calls "arguably better, and certainly more ambitious, than the original."

Next up, we have 1977's 'Annie Hall,' and THR's critic knows what you're thinking.

"Others may feel compelled to automatically downgrade or disregard

Woody Allen's accomplishments at the moment," he writes.

"But on repeated viewings, this remains probably the freshest, funniest

and most emotionally nuanced romantic comedy since the form's golden days."

In 1992, Clint Eastwood brought us 'Unforgiven,' and it remains,

according to McCarthy, "one of the true emblematic and definitive Westerns."

Finally, we have our critic's most recent favorite best picture...1993's 'Schindler's List.'

Says McCarthy of Steven Spielberg's first Oscar winner:

its "dramatic power and integrity of the storytelling fully match the impulses

that drove the director to take on the project in the first place."

Jacques: Here are the top five lyrics for February 2018.

For number five, we head to the circus.

Jacques: "Rewrite The Stars" comes from 'The Greatest Showman' soundtrack.

The film maps out the beginnings of the Barnum & Bailey Circus and Zendaya and

Zac Efron's characters are in an interracial relationship, a pretty dangerous thing for the time period.

Zendaya: There's always the factor of them not being able to be together

because of, literally, the color of their skin.

You know, at the time that was a hundred and twenty percent not allowed.

Jacques: At number four is the opening line from Post Malone's latest cut.

Jacques: The "AP" could be the Audemar Piguet watch.

However, it could be a likely reference to 'action points' from one of Post Malone's

favorite games, 'Fallout.'

In the series, "psycho" is an injectable chemical that gives damage resistance and

under certain situations additional action points.

Post loves this game so much that he even has a tattoo of Vault Boy,

the series mascot, on his leg.

Jacques: At number three, we have Cardi B's verse from Bruno Mars "Finesse."

Jacques: She may have in fact changed the game becoming the third act since Ashanti and The Beatles

to have their first three singles to reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

She credits her past life as a stripper for freeing her from an abusive relationship.

Vlad TV: How did you get out?

Cardi B: Stripping.

Getting my own money and leaving.

How was I going to leave if I only made two hundred dollars every week?

Jacques: We head to Puerto Rico for number two.

Jacques: Latin Trap star Bad Bunny told Billboard that he wrote this song about a heartbreak before his fame.

Recently, he was seen in the studio with Drake

and all eyes are on him and what he might be able to deliver in 2018.

At number one are two things that we should cherish very dearly.

Jacques: Self-avowed mama's boy Drake is no stranger to showing his mother, Sandi Graham, love.

On her 58th birthday he posted this lyric on Instagram.

He's also mentioned his mother in quite a few songs and even dedicated a song to her.
