another Manfrotto tripod. This is the
MT055 X-Pro 3,
it's the aluminum version. As always, if

Alright so here we have yet another
piece of fine engineering by the
Italians, Manfrotto MT055 X Pro 3 big
number
what it means is, very well-designed,
all-aluminum. It also comes in
carbon-fiber, this guy weighs a little
bit over 5 pounds but it can accommodate
19 pounds worth of gear. Center column
extends up to 66.9
inches,
notice how I have a 3/8 thread here, so
you can put the more popular Manfrotto
heads on here whether it's a ball head
or flat video head.
It also has a locking pin mechanism so
that when you do attach a head on here
this pin allows it to lock it in place
so that when you pan and tilt it doesn't
loosen up, you have a swivel bubble level
which is awesome because that means you
can get it out of the way depending on
where you need to keep an eye on your
leveling, it swivels around, it's surrounded
in a nice rubber padding. Speaking about
rubber, they added really good rubber
grips on two of the legs, so this allows you
to grab this whether you're an
excessively cold weather or like here in
sunny Miami, excessively hot weather, you
want to be able to pick it up and not
burn yourself.
Oh and notice on the side here,
yes, it does have their new easy-link, not
Izzy link, the easy link connector which
allows you to now put a 3/8 thread arm so
you can put a bracket on here, attach a
additional light, you can attach a
monitor, microphone, all sorts of things.
Now the 90-degree column allows you to
angle it so that now I can lower this
and do macro shots and of course it has
a new power lock locking mechanism which
is 50 percent more rigid than the
previous version, so this is makes it
really simple to extend and close up
your Manfrotto 055 and like I stated
you can get really close to the ground,
let me show you that so that if you want
to do any macro shots, notice how quickly
this closes up. So now I'm going to
extend the legs all the way down so that
if I want to do some phenomenal macro
let's just hope that I can get back up
off the ground.
Look at that, so I can be way down here and be
able to still do incredible imaging,
whether I want to do stills or video
because it gives you that much
flexibility with the Manfrotto MT 055
Pro 3.
