There were 464,324 missing children reported in the FBIs National Crime Information Center in 2017, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Under federal law, when a child is reported missing to law enforcement they must be entered into the database. In 2016, there were 465,676 entries.

This number represents reports of missing children. That means if a child runs away multiple times in a year, each instance would be entered into NCIC separately and counted in the yearly total. Likewise, if an entry is withdrawn and amended or updated, that would also be reflected in the total, the center noted.

In 2017, the center said it assisted officers and families with the cases of more than 27,000 missing children.

In those cases, 91 percent were endangered runaways, and 5 percent were family abductions. About one in seven children reported missing to the center in 2017 were likely victims of child sex trafficking.

According to the , one in five women will be raped at some point in their lives.

In eight out of 10 cases, the victim knew the perpetrator.

About 25 percent of girls will be sexually abused before they turn 18 years old, the center said. Three out of 10 women were between the ages of 11 and 17 at the time of their first rape.

About 34 percent of people who sexually abuse a child are family members of the child.

[BREAKING NEWS] Emiliano Sala plane found on seabed in English Channel - Duration: 2:56.

[BREAKING NEWS] Emiliano Sala plane found on seabed in English Channel

A search boat located the wreckage on the seabed of the English Channel at 9am on Sunday, following a search led by David Mearns, a marine explorer who has been working alongside the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).

The plane carrying Cardiff's January signing Sala and pilot David Ibbotson disappeared while flying over the English Channel on January 21.

Guernsey Police stopped looking for Sala and Ibbotson three days later, with officials saying the chance of them being alive was extremely unlikely. A privately-funded search for the plane subsequently began after a GoFundMe page was started.

The team had reduced their search area to just four square miles, with the plane eventually found 24 miles north of Guernsey, after the search had resumed at first light on Sunday.

Sala had joined Cardiff for a club-record fee from French side Nantes on January 19 and Cardiff paid tribute to Sala ahead of Saturday's match with Bournemouth, the first they had played at home since the plane went missing.

"The wreckage of the plane carrying Emiliano Sala and piloted by David Ibbotson has been located," Mearns told Sky News.

"It was located earlier this morning by my crew on board the Morven and, as in agreement with the AAIB as soon as the plane was located and the position was passed to them their vessel, the GO Ocean 3, then moved in over the wreckage and have been conducting ROV (remotely operated vehicle) investigations.

"The families have been notified by the AAIB and the AAIB will be making a statement tomorrow [Monday] morning.

"This is about the best result we could have hoped for the families but tonight they have heard devastating news and in respect of the families I won't comment any further about what has happened.

"All I will say about the wreckage is there is a substantial amount of wreckage on the seabed.
