Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News!
I'm Oli Davis.
Bring Structure To The Table The WWE Network's Bring It to the Table
programme is a bizarre show - a panel discussion with Peter Rosenberg, Corey Graves and JBL
which is meant to be a shoot, i.e. real, debate over 'smart fan' questions and concerns.
Should John Cena Vs Shinsuke Nakamura have been saved for a pay-per-view?
Should Raw go back to two hours?
And who really is Byron Saxton!?
But while trying to talk about genuine criticisms of the product, they also have to tow the
company line that WWE is great - meaning they mostly end up belittling the opinions of their
most engaged fans.
On the most recent episode, however, host Rosenberg indulged in a much more worthwhile
endeavour - belittling JBL's Smackdown commentary.
When talking about the reported list of 'banned words' Vince McMahon gives his commentators
- which includes terms such as 'hospital', 'belt' and 'title shot' - Rosenberg
pointed out Bradshaw used the word 'structure' an incredible 64 times in Battleground's
Punjabi Prison match.
Randy Orton Mocks WWE Matches And Rosenberg isn't the only one making
fun of WWE's steel-reinforced bamboo structure.
So's one of the guys who was actually in it.
Randy Orton was involved in one of WWE's best storylines coming into 2017 - a five
month long infiltration of the Wyatt Family, turning brother against brother and eventually
winning the Royal Rumble.
But ever since Randy turned on Bray Wyatt, his involvement in Smackdown's WWE Championship
picture has been marred by over-the-top gimmick matches.
In his Wrestlemania 33 WWE title win over Bray, 'creepy' images were projected on
the ring canvas.
At their non-title Payback rematch, Wyatt defeated Orton in a House of Horrors - half
taking place in a supposedly haunted building taped the week before.
And, most recently, Randy lost to Jinder Mahal inside JBL's favourite structure - the comically
contrived Punjabi Prison.
This week's Smackdown kicked off Orton's feud with Rusev, who himself had just lost
his own gimmick match - a Flag Match - at Battleground, which led comedy account WWE
Creative Humor to tweet: ""I'll fight you.
Just no Punjabi Prison Matches or House of Horrors or Flag Matches or any other bulls***
matches" - @RandyOrton #SDLive" Which is made even funnier by getting a retweet
from The Viper himself FROM OUTTA NOWHERE.
...retweet.
Smackdown Rating This week's Smackdown pulled in an average
of 2.57 million viewers, the show's highest number in over a month.
But what about your rating?
A huge 74% agreed with me at SmackTastic, while SmackDamn and Smack Bang in the Middle
were both tied at 11%.
Kyle O'Reilly Debuts On NXT Meanwhile on last night's NXT, former Ring
of Honor champion Kyle O'Reilly made his official WWE debut, losing to Aleister Black.
O'Reilly's former ReDRagon tag team partner Bobby Fish had previously debuted in June,
also losing to Black.
So that's two of the long-reported four big ex-ROH wrestler moves to WWE, which have
been delayed since January because of accusations of contract tampering from Ring of Honor.
Donovan Dijak has revealed he's finishing up his indy dates this month, all but confirming
his WWE move, leaving just one man left...Adam Cole, bay-bay.
Who is pushing backstage for Samoa Joe to win the title at Summerslam?
And what's the real reason behind the WWE cost-cutting right now?
