Is Your News Real? - Duration: 6:23.

Hello and welcome, I'm Gina Shakespeare.

Thank you for joining me on this episode of Declassified.

So, today on the show, a story from one of my favorite Epoch Times writers, Brian Cates.

His story: 'The Paid-Propaganda-As-News Scam' One of the biggest dirty secrets of the DNC

Media Complex is that, for some time now, journalists and prominent media outlets have

been receiving information—and in some cases, even money—from political operative groups

on behalf of their clients.

Brian Cates calles this dirty secret the "Paid-Propaganda-As-News Scam."

Over the past 10 years or so, numerous of these "propaganda shops" have sprung into

existence around the periphery of U.S. news media.

Naturally, media outlets don't want the public to know about these middlemen who provide

information for the stories they produce.

They want to maintain the illusion that they are completely neutral truth-telling conveyors

of just the facts in their coverage of daily events and in their opinion columns.

So, here's how the "disguise our paying client's propaganda as our own news coverage"

scam actually works: Let's say you're a fabulously wealthy Saudi prince who doesn't

like the recent direction that Mohammad Bin Salman has been taking your country for the

past few years, and you'd like to try to influence American public opinion and—by

extension—U.S. foreign policy toward Saudi Arabia.

Well, what you do is, you pay one of these big political operative firms big money to

get your point of view published in the U.S. news outlets.

So you give the propaganda shop the talking points you want the "news" articles to

make along with a great big pile of cash.

Sounds far fetched, right?

Does it?

Well, not exactly.

It's already happened, as crack investigative reporter Lee Smith detailed in a column he

wrote two years ago.

That's what Smith wrote in his article.

That's what Smith added.

As you can readily see, any "news" outlet that does this kind of thing isn't really

in the news coverage business any longer.

The entire recent Jamal Khashoggi fiasco for The Washington Post is just one of the latest

examples of how the media outlets keep being exposed as playing this sordid game.

Khashoggi was an "opinion columnist" for The Washington Post who turned out to actually

be an agent of the government of Qatar.

Jim Hanson, the president of the Security Studies Group (SSG), wrote an excellent explainer

of The Washington Post's Khashoggi scandal at The Federalist recently.

That's what Hanson wrote.

As Hanson pointed out, The Washington Post wrote that:

In another example, the House Intelligence Committee—which

has been investigating the Spygate scandal—has obtained the financial records of political

operative firm Fusion GPS.

The records of Fusion—which was at the center of the operation to prevent Trump from becoming

president—reveal "12 transactions associated with payments to four journalists and/or researchers."

It also reveals "12 transactions associated with payments from media Company A." It

remains unknown who the specific journalists and media were that received the payments.

What we do know, from court records in the UK, where former MI6 spy Christopher Steele

was being sued, is that Fusion GPS instructed him to give secret briefings to the media

organizations on multiple occasions.

Among those briefed by Steele on the unverified dirt he produced on Trump were reporters at

The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, CNN, and Yahoo News.

It's very telling that for more than a year while congressional Republicans played by

the rules and sat on this information, none of it was leaked by the Democrats to their

media allies.

That points to these payments to media outlets being highly damaging information, since the

Trump-Russia conspiracy theorists—both in Congress and in the media—can't figure

out a way to spin this information, not even as damage control.

When those financial records become public information—as they inevitably will—a

whole lot of well-deserved consequences are going to descend on media outlets that willingly

prostituted themselves in the service of spreading fake narratives they knew were Fake News.

That's all the time we have for this episode of Declassified.

Please leave your comments below.

What do you think of the Fake News epidemic that is sweeping America?

So, who are the main offenders of Fake News, and who are some of the better media outlets

out there?

Do leave your opinions below; I would be interested.

Also, who do you think we should collaborate with here on Declassified?

If you have suggestions, also feel free to leave them.

Plus, if you have not subscribed, which I think the majority of you already have, feel

free to hit the subscribe button.

Thank you very much for Liking, Commenting and so on.

I look forward to seeing you probably tomorrow.

Until then, take care.

Maldives ex president Yameen held for money laundering trial News Al Jazeera - Duration: 2:52.

Maldives ex president Yameen held for money laundering trial News Al Jazeera

Court orders Abdulla Yameen be held in custody until the end of a trial on money laundering charges, say local media.

A court in the has ordered the countrys former President Abdulla Yameen be held in state custody until the end of a trial on money laundering charges, according to local media.

At a criminal court hearing on Monday, prosecutors alleged the former president, who lost an election in September, tried to bribe a witness in the prosecutions case to change their testimony, reported the news websites Mihaaru and Avas.

Yameen was taken to a remand centre on Maafushi, an island near the Maldives capital, Male, a police spokesperson said.

The 59 year old was with money laundering last week over claims he received dollar 1m, stolen from state coffers in the countrys biggest ever corruption scandal.

Police say a private company that laundered more than dollar 79m in tourism revenues deposited the money to Yameens private account at the Maldives Islamic Bank.

The case was the subject of an in 2016.

The former president refused to return the money despite an order by the countrys anti corruption watchdog, and instead "conducted financial transactions from which he obtained profit", the police said in a statement earlier this month.

Lawyers for Yameen previously dismissed the charges as an attempt to influence the Maldivess upcoming parliamentary elections, set to take place on April 6.

The Anti Corruption Commission "has so far failed to prove the dollar 1m transferred to Yameens account by SOF Pvt Ltd was state funds obtained through corruption", the lawyers contended in a statement earlier this month.

Yameen told reporters in January that the one million dollars deposited to his private account was given to him by "various parties as campaign funds". The money was his, he added, saying he did not return the amount because there was no proof it was government money.

Police have also sought charges of false testimony against Yameen and his top legal counsel.

The former president is also under investigation in a separate money laundering case, in which he is alleged to have received 22 million rufiyaas dollar 1.5m in cash days before the presidential election in September 2018.

In December, the police said authorities froze Yameens bank accounts and seized more than 100 million rufiyaas dollar 6m in US dollars and local currency.

✅ Breaking News - Manchester City laugh their way through training ahead of Schalke tie - Duration: 2:53.

Manchester City took to training smiling from ear to ear ahead of their Champions League tie with Schalke on Wednesday

Unsurprisingly, the Citizens were in good spirits having dismantled Chelsea 6-0, and followed it up with a straightforward win over Newport County in the FA Cup

Their attention now turns to Europe's elite competition but with a relatively simple draw on the cards - compared with title rivals Liverpool  who face German champions Bayern Munich on Tuesday - the pressure won't be so keenly felt

That transpired at the Etihad campus as Pep Guardiola dusted off his football boots for some juggling while Raheem Sterling was pictured in hysterics

The Citizens were also boosted by the return of Benjamin Mendy, who joins Vincent Kompany and Eliaquim Mangala who have also recently resumed training

Mendy has been beset by knee trouble and has not featured since late November, but the rampaging full back is now on the mend

Share this article Share He is not expected to feature at the VELTINS-Arena in Gelsenkirchen on Wednesday and nor is Kompany or Mangala

Sergio Aguero, Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva all took part ahead of City's trip to Germany

Phil Foden was also in action along with several under 23 players including Jeremie Frimpong, Eric Garcia, Ian Carlo Poveda and Philippe Sandler

Foden will be eager to capitalise on his match-winning performance against Newport in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday

The 18-year-old netted twice and his all-round performance certainly impressed boss Guardiola

He said: 'Phil has to compete with Kevin [De Bruyne], with [Ilkay] Gündogan, with Bernardo Silva, with David Silva, but he's a player who is ready – ready to play

'And today was a good test for him, with second balls, long balls, he had to adapt

He learned a lot, I'm sure, and he helped us to win the game with two incredible goals

'We know that he's a guy who [gets] close to the box and has this mentality to score goals, and he has the ability to do that

He was brilliant. He was top.' Share this article Share

✅ Breaking News - Premier League giants wary of joining race for Ajax defender De Ligt - Duration: 2:05.

Premier League clubs are reportedly reluctant to join the race for £50million rated Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt due to his agent Mino Raiola

Manchester City have been linked with the Netherlands international, who faces Real Madrid in a Champions League round of 16 tie on Wednesday

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have watched the 19-year-old in action in the last 12 months

But only Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have contacted Ajax to make their interest official

The Daily Mirror reported that the belief in Holland is that English clubs are reluctant to do business with super-agent Raiola

Raiola fell out with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola over Zlatan Ibrahimovic when the Spaniard was Barcelona coach in 2011

United are wary of dealing with Raiola after after they discovered he had been touting Paul Pogba to Europe's top clubs, while Arsenal were stung during negotiations for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the deal that took Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford last year

Barcelona have identified De Ligt as the long-term replacement for Gerard Pique at the heart of their defence, claim reports in Spain

A potential move to the Nou Camp would see him follow Dutch team-mate Frenkie de Jong, who completed a £65m move on Wednesday

But Raiola remains one sizeable obstacle in the way.Raiola would prefer his client to develop elsewhere, before making the switch to Barca, according to Mundo Deportivo

✅ Breaking News - Mayweather confirms Gervonta Davis will have exhibition bout in Japan - Duration: 2:22.

Unbeaten star Gervonta Davis will have an exhibition bout against Japanese kick-boxer Tenshin Nasukawa in April, Floyd Mayweather confirmed

Speaking after Davis' knockout win over Hugo Ruiz to win the WBA super featherweight title, Mayweather revealed to reporters his surprising plans in the coming months

Mayweather, now 41, took Nasukawa apart inside a round when the pair met in December and having earned millions, it appears he is taking his unbeaten protege Davis for some of the action

Share this article Share 'We're thinking May (for his next fight), if that's OK with him,' Mayweather told reporters when asked about Davis' plans

'But he has an exhibition bout with Tenshin (Nasukawa) in Japan in April. Yes he's fighting Tenshin in an exhibition bout in Japan

'Reporters were stunned by the admission given Nasukawa was left in tears having been overwhelmed by Mayweather within seconds of the bell

Davis is a heavier puncher in peak physical condition and many were questioning if Mayweather was being serious with the media

'Yes, exhibition bout. April is Tenshin and May is the real fight,' he added.Mayweather is unsurprisingly keen to see Davis go to Asia having walked away from his bout with $10million (£7

7m) and while the 24-year-old is unlikely to get to such figures, he would make light work of the 20-year-old Japanese fighter

'It was crazy!' laughed Mayweather. 'I was supposed to make $9m but I ended up making $10m! I got a bonus!' Davis will likely return to less farcical match-ups in May when he will defend his title against an opponent that, as of yet, remains unselected

A good coating of snow had people clearing off their vehicles in Terryville on Monday morning.

Several inches of snow are still possible throughout Monday.

HARTFORD, CT WFSB Snow developed overnight and left a fresh coating on most surfaces.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the entire state until 11 a.m. Monday morning. Its the reason Channel 3 declared an Early Warning Weather Alert.

Schools that werent off for the holiday posted delays while a number of cities and towns issued parking bans. See the list .

"The roads are snow covered and quite messy, so please be careful as you head out the door," said meteorologist Scot Haney.

Track the weather with Early warning Pinpoint Doppler .

The precipitation hasnt been all snow. Sleet and freezing rain were reported along the shoreline.

Regardless if the snow and/or mix, it will become more intermittent throughout the morning.

"Snow and rain showers may continue throughout the day," Haney said. "Finally, all precipitation will come to an end later this afternoon as the storm system slips into the Gulf of Maine."

Snowfall predictions should range between 1 and 4 inches.

The shoreline will be on the low end of that.

High temperatures for the day will be in the 30s.

The state will see a break from wintry weather on Tuesday.

"Youre going to need your umbrellas and ice scrapers by midweek," Haney said. "Yes, another storm will impact Connecticut Wednesday and Thursday."

The timing and type of precipitation remains in question, however.

As of Monday mornings forecast, it looks to develop as snow later in the day on Wednesday, possibly after the evening commute.

Then, it could mix or change over to sleet and rain overnight. The greatest chance for any accumulation would be in northern Connecticut.

Plain rain is possible early Thursday morning. Conditions should improve by the afternoon.

For the rest of the week, the state appears to be storm free.

Phoebe Bridges thankful for support following Ryan Adams exposé - Latest News - Duration: 3:48.

Phoebe Bridgers has expressed her gratitude for the support she's received since coming forward against Ryan Adams

The indie folk artist, 24, was one of seven women to talk to the New York Times for a bombshell article about Adams' nearly-two-decade-long history of alleged emotional abuse andual misconduct towards young female musicians

"It's been a weird week and I wanted to say a couple things," she wrote in a note posted to Instagram and Twitter over the weekend

"Thank you from my whole fucking heart to my friends, my bands, my mom," she continued

"They all supported and validated me. They told me that what had happened was f–ked up and wrong, and that I was right to feel weird about it

I couldn't have done this without them."  Bridgers also pointed out that while her network of friends has given her strength and support, there were people who did the same for Adams, 44, even as he was allegedly victimizing others

"Ryan had a network too," she wrote. "Friends, bands, people he worked with. None of them held him accountable

They told him, by what they said or by what they didn't, that what he was doing was okay

They validated him. He couldn't have done this without them."  She finished the note by asking people to call others out on their behavior even if it's a friend

"Guys, if your friend is acting f–ked up, call them out," he wrote. "If they're actually your friend, they'll listen

That's the way this all gets better." see also Ryan Adams accused of emotional abuse andual misconduct The musician denied the claims through his lawyer

In last week's report, Bridgers told the paper that Adams had struck up a relationship with her when she was a 20-year-old musician trying to break through, but that his attention soon grew obsessive and manipulative

Then, after she broke things off with him, he stopped trying to help her career, even delaying the release of music they had recorded together

Through his lawyer, Adams has denied all the accusations, telling Page Six, "I am not a perfect man and I have made many mistakes

To anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally, I apologize deeply and unreservedly

But the picture that this article paints is upsettingly inaccurate. Some of its details are misrepresented; some are exaggerated; some are outright false

"  Shortly after Bridgers posted her note, another woman who came forward against Adams, his ex-wife Mandy Moore, responded on Twitter, writing, "Facts

Thank you, @phoebe_bridgers. ❤️ you." Share this:
