Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dream start as Manchester United boss goes on after a fourth straight win at St James' Park last night.

Romelu Lukaku came off the bench to fire United into a 64 minute lead before Marcus Rashford maintained his rich goalscoring form under the Norwegian with the clincher 16 minutes later.

While the result keeps alive United's slim hopes of a top four finish, it condemned Newcastle to an EIGHTH home defeat this term.

Victory earns Sokskjaer a place in the record books having bridged a 72 year gap at the scene of his first-ever match as a manager in English football.

As Cardiff manager five years ago, he saw his side knock Newcastle out of the FA Cup and last night he matched the feat of Sir Matt Busby, who also won his first four matches in 1946.

United did require a helping hand from Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka. Man of the match against them on his Toon debut 11 months ago, he couldn't hold a Rashford shot, allowing Lukaku to pounce.

Fellow sub Alexis Sanchez, another Jose Mourinho outcast hoping to revive his United career, then laid on the second for Rashford
