Koulibaly is wanted at Old Trafford as United's defensive issues continue to be exposed

Napoli will only sanction a sale in the summer if the price is right and Gazzetta reckon that would need to surpass £100m - which would make Koulibaly the most expensive defender in history

The report adds Maurizio Sarri has already tried and failed to lure the centre-back to Chelsea

News24 - Man Utd transfer news: The THREE most likely January signings revealed - Duration: 2:36.

Paddy Power believe the most likely one is Harry Maguire, making him a 9/4 shot to join Manchester United

United made a move last summer for the centre-back but he signed a new deal worth £20million

Despite the short price with the bookies, Leicester boss Claude Puel is confident of keeping England ace Maguire, 25, in the January transfer window as well

Puel said: "We cannot have guarantees but I think Harry decided this summer to remain with us and play with us for another season

He is happy with us." The second favourite is Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, who is a 7/2 shot to move to Old Trafford

Tottenham have just triggered an extension clause in Alderweireld's deal meaning he will now be contracted until the summer of 2020, having been due to be a free agent at the end of the season

By taking up the year's option, however, it also activates a £25m release clause which runs from the start of the 2019 summer transfer window until the last two weeks

The news comes several weeks after Spurs triggered an option on Jan Vertonghen's contract

Trending    Mauricio Pochettino, the manager, said: "Yes, for sure. It is obvious

It is the same situation as Jan." While the third most likely star to move to United is West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic

He is 11/2 to make the move. West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has insisted Arnautovic is "happy" at the club - despite comments from Arnautovic's brother and agent Danijel, who said "he needs to play at a top team

" The Hammers signed Arnautovic from Stoke for £23m in July 2017 and are determined to keep hold of him
