Waching daily Jul 27 2018

The Reds have made waves since the end of last season by spending more than £150m on Alisson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri

They continue to be linked with a whole host of talent, including Lyon captain Nabil Fekir and Flamengo midfielder Lucas Paqueta

Liverpool could yet make further forays into the transfer market in a bid to bolster their squad as they seek to challenge on four fronts

While they will almost certainly do business in terms of outgoings, with financial necessity meaning the books have to be balanced

Liverpool's situation contrasts to that of rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham who are scrambling to complete deals before August 9

And Klopp appears to be relaxed about the prospect of deadline day being three weeks earlier than usual this summer

"I think the idea in general was good," said Klopp, when asked about the transfer window shutting early

"Then we did it, and nobody else pretty much in the world did. And we did it in a World Cup year, which means you get the boys arriving back three days before season starts

That's not perfect.  "We did our business pretty early, at least parts of it. It's strange, in other countries, clubs are waiting but abroad no one can wait

" Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are the Premier League's biggest spenders by some distance this summer

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho claims the pressure is on the Merseysiders to deliver after splashing the cash

"If you have the money, if you invest well, it's better than to have it in the bank, because the interest rates are very low," said Mourinho

"The problem is you have to invest well and, honestly, they did very well, because every player they bought are quality players and I'm happy for them

"I'm also happy to smile and to see that, you know, you can change your opinion and change as a person – it's funny

But that's okay. "But maybe this season, finally you demand that they win. You have to be fair and now you have to demand and say the team with investments you are making last season, that you made in January, that you make now, that will probably be the record of the Premier League this season, a team that was a finalist in the Champions League, you have to say you are a big candidate and you have to win

" Liverpool and United go head-to-head in the International Champions Cup at Ann Arbor's Michigan Stadium on Saturday

Liverpool transfer news: Reds stance on Lyon star Nabil Fekir as deadline looms - Duration: 2:33.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was determined to sign Fekir from Lyon, with the France international coming close to a move last month

The 24-year-old, who helped France win the World Cup in Russia, snapped in a Liverpool shirt with screengrabs from an unveiling video then leaked onto social media after the Merseyside giants had reached an agreement with Lyon

Fekir then underwent a medical with Liverpool, which flagged up a long-standing knee injury which could plague him in future

Liverpool have since chosen not to reignite their interest in Fekir, choosing instead to shell out a huge £66million on Alisson Becker, who joined from Roma

And, despite links to Chelsea, they supposedly have no plans to go back in for the forward

Reports have claimed Chelsea are keen to sign Fekir as a replacement for Eden Hazard, who is on Real Madrid's list of transfer targets

Los Blancos want Hazard to sign as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who quit for Juventus in a £105million deal earlier this month

Chelsea have then consequently emerged as frontrunners from Fekir, with interest from Manchester United non-existent

The Liverpool Echo say, though, that Liverpool have not budged on their stance towards the playmaker

Meanwhile, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently provided an update on Fekir's future

He said: "I am not afraid of anything. "If they leave, that means we have received the number we want

"We will do everything we can for them not to, but the week before the 9th of August will be a bit of a storm, [but it will be] difficult for Nabil to find a genuinely better club
