Waching daily Dec 29 2017

Hello everyone and welcome on De Papier et de Rêves' channel !

I'm Ursula and i will play again

with spontaneous flowers with watercolor

I've already done this kind of video few weeks ago

But i wanted to try it again with other colors

And this video has something more

that you'll see later

featuring again white ink !

I've started my painting with phtalo turquoise, quinacridone gold and green gold

with totally random brush strokes

And i've applied colors from the left to the right

In order to smooth and blend the colors together

i use a spray bottle with water

It's wetting my paper and allows my colors to blend and mingle together

While this layer is still wet i'm adding some alizarin crimson

like poppy flowers

This time i do not forget to densify the colors for this first layer

to avoid fading during drying time

I do like particularly the contrast between phtalo turquoise and quinacridone gold

This two colors are working great together

But when i'm adding alizarin crimson i have to be very cautious not mixing this three colors too much

They can become dull and muddy

Once this first layer has dried, i've turn my paper

and i started to see the flowers

So i painted a red poppy flower

and started to find some foliage

it's a very nice thing to paint with a big brush

i can just suggest foliage and it's creating itself

I'm creating flowers also where i put quinacridone gold

i add some red in the center to suggest the heart flowers

The foliage part of this painting was the most enjoyable thing to paint

i do like the diagonal i gave them, it's adding energy to my painting

And even if at the end i'm not very satisfied with this painting

i like the foliage a lot and i think i'll be inspired by this work for other watercolor

And it's a fact : we can't always succeed in every painting we made

but we have to take every opportunities

and not forget that we are moving forward, we are improving by practicing

I think you can see that i've liked very much painting this foliage : i can't stop it !

Alizarin crimson and reds overall are colors that i don't use often

i've difficulties to work with them because i've the feeling that they become dull very easily

and that's the problem i add in this image : during the painting i have very bright reds and when it's dry it become dull

but it's this dullness that push me to try something

right now i'm adding white on my watercolor

i wanted to try if white ink that i used on other paintings lately, could allow me to correct a mistake

so right underneath the white i had a red mark that i didn't like

the white ink covers the problem very well and i like the effect

but it's too white and too bright so i will try to paint on top of it later

And you'll see that it's not so easy

meanwhile i've painting some dark area in the image

i've mixed some phtalo turquoise and carbazole violet

it's a very dark blue mix that i like a lot

So i used it to gave volume to the foliage

And now i'm trying to make this red flower pop a little bit more

but too many layers of different colors will become dull and that what happening there

I'm touching up a bit this white layer again

in order to have the best base for the next layer

For this painting i used my Escoda Versatil nº12

The very little Barna Art nº1 for the white details

and a flat brush Sceptre Gold II nº13

For the colors i used Phtalo turquoise

Cerulean blue

Quinacridone gold

Green gold

Permanent alizarine crimson

Carbazole violet

And of course white ink for masking my mistake

And now i paint on top of the white ink

it's quite hard to do because the white ink isn't waterproof

and gets reactivated by water

So it's not the perfect solution for masking small mistakes

But it's working and if it could be useful for someone, it's perfect !

I add a little bit more depth on few elements

And it's done !

I hope you enjoyed this video

don't hesitate to comment and you can find all the supplies in the description below

See you soon !
