Arsenal have reportedly identified Sevilla midfielder N'Zonzi as a prime target for the
January transfer window.
The 29-year-old has fallen out with his former manager Eduardo Berizzo, who has now been
sacked by the LaLiga side, following their collapse to a 3-3 draw with Liverpool in the
Champions League after moving three goals ahead in the first half.
The former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City player has since stated that he wishes to
leave the club putting a number of Premier League suitors on high alert, Arsenal included
according to the Daily Star.
The Gunners are ready to pay the £30million fee that Sevilla have rated him at, although
he has also gained a lot of interest from other clubs such as West Ham and Everton.
Manager Berizzo was dismissed from Sevilla last week having only recently recovered from
a cancer operation, which means that the midfielder's future may not be as clear as it was – paving
the way for his potential exit.
N'Zonzi currently has a £35million release clause in his contract at Sevilla.
The Frenchman fuelled further speculation about a potential move to Arsenal a few weeks
ago when he was spotted at Gatwick Airport, though he later admitted that he was merely
in London to visit family.
Calm in possession in his defensive midfield role and a good passer of the ball, N'Zonzi
would no doubt reintegrate easily back into the demands of the Premier League.
He has been attracting a lot of interest from the Premier League with Everton who are resurgent
under Sam Allardyce also interested.
Toffees boss Allardyce signed N'Zonzi for Blackburn in 2009 before moving onto Stoke
and later Sevilla.
At Arsenal, N'Zonzi would provide competition to Granit Xhaka in the holding role in front
of Wenger's defence, either in a back three or a back four.
