Meghan Markle news: Is Meghan Markle's accent changing to be more BRITISH? - Duration: 2:58.
Meghan Markle, 37, has been living in the UK permanently since her engagement to Prince Harry was announced on November 27, 2017
The royal couple married on May 19, 2018, with Meghan officially taking on the title of The Duchess of Sussex
Despite being resident in the UK for only 15 months, the California native appears to have adopted British intonations into her speech as revealed in shared online videos
Plenty of people have weighed in on Twitter to say they believe Meghan's inflection is sounding more British
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton tweeted: "Meghan Markle's got a case of the Madonna! She's now speaking with a British accent! It happens! have you heard Lindsay Lohan talk lately?"But what do the experts say? Marisa Brook, assistant professor in linguistics at the University of Toronto, believes the Duchess has purposely adapted how she speaks to fit in with the Royals
Speaking to the BBC, the language expert cited Meghan's walkabout in Birkenhead in January as an example, when she told a well-wisher "I do appreciate that"
Ms Brook said: "The vowel in 'that' is further back in the mouth than you would expect for American English
" She added Meghan has "developed a style that sounds very English-aristocratic for interacting with the public"
Ms Brook added: "I think a lot of it is deliberate on her part. She's developed a style to be used when directly talking with the British public
"These are the situations where people might be judging her in public instantly, where it really benefits her to sound British and aristocratic
" Phonetics and pronunciation specialist Dr Geoff Lindsey also noted some key changes in Meghan's speech since landing in the UK
He told the BBC: "There does seem to be something in the idea that Meghan Markle's speech has changed a bit, at least in some settings"
He added: "There are occasional vowels which sound a bit more British", referring to Meghan's pronunciation of the word "all" which he says has seen some "subtle" changes
University of Reading phonetics professor Jane Setter also agreed there were some changes to the Duchess's vowel pronunciation when in public but said "it's not huge"
She put this down to a common behavioural practice known as accommodation, which is adopted by people when speaking to different individuals
Professor Setter said: "We all do this to some extent - speak differently with different people
"In a social role like the one Meghan is now in, where she has to meet lots of people and basically make a good impression on them in a short space of time, the ability to do this is very useful
"But it would be weird to take this too far. I don't think British people would accept her if she suddenly started sounding like she was in the cast of EastEnders - or spoke like the Queen
" But Professor Paul Kerswill, a sociolinguist from the University of York, was unconvinced, saying "there really isn't much to go on"
He added: "Meghan is pretty consistent in her accent. whether acting a 'FedEx girl' in 2011, or a lawyer in Suits the same year

HARTFORD, CT WFSB Snow developed overnight and left a fresh coating on most surfaces.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for the entire state until 11 a.m. Monday morning. Its the reason Channel 3 declared an Early Warning Weather Alert.
Schools that werent off for the holiday posted delays while a number of cities and towns issued parking bans. See the list .
"The roads are snow covered and quite messy, so please be careful as you head out the door," said meteorologist Scot Haney.

The precipitation hasnt been all snow. Sleet and freezing rain were reported along the shoreline.
Regardless if the snow and/or mix, it will become more intermittent throughout the morning.
"Snow and rain showers may continue throughout the day," Haney said. "Finally, all precipitation will come to an end later this afternoon as the storm system slips into the Gulf of Maine."
Snowfall predictions should range between 1 and 4 inches.
The shoreline will be on the low end of that.
High temperatures for the day will be in the 30s.
The state will see a break from wintry weather on Tuesday.
"Youre going to need your umbrellas and ice scrapers by midweek," Haney said. "Yes, another storm will impact Connecticut Wednesday and Thursday."
The timing and type of precipitation remains in question, however.
As of Monday mornings forecast, it looks to develop as snow later in the day on Wednesday, possibly after the evening commute.
Then, it could mix or change over to sleet and rain overnight. The greatest chance for any accumulation would be in northern Connecticut.
Plain rain is possible early Thursday morning. Conditions should improve by the afternoon.

Liverpool transfer news: Sky Sports man makes transfer claim about Man Utd, Alexis Sanchez - Duration: 3:40.
Manchester United spent £53million on Fred and £20m on Diogo Dalot over the summer - six months after signing Alexis Sanchez on a free
While Liverpool have splashed the cash on the likes of Virgil van Dijk for £75m, Alisson for £67m and £55m for Naby Keita
The Reds paid more in transfer fees but their net spend is lower having sold Philippe Coutinho for £142m in January
For Sherwood, United are doing it all wrong and he's claim NO-ONE would want Sanchez now
"You're the manager of Liverpool and you've bought Van Dijk for £75million. I'm going to give you £150m for him - would you take it?" he said on Sky Sports' The Debate
"There would be enough people out there willing to give you £150m now and they'd give you more for Alisson at £67m and Mohamed Salah at £40m
That's a £100m player. "The point I'm making is them Liverpool signings, not all of them, Keita has it all do, Fabinho still has it all to do, the others have improved
They are worth more money. "You look to the Man United list now. Which one of them players is worth more money now? READ MORE: SKY SPORTS PUNDIT MAKES UNITED CLAIM "Yes of course Alexis Sanchez as he cost them nothing in the first place but no-one is taking Alexis Sanchez with the money that he earns at Manchester United
" Appearing alongside Sherwood on the show was Chelsea Women boss Emma Hayes who joined the ex-Tottenham manager in highlighting United's flaws
"The strategy of recruitment in itself is an art," she said. "Liverpool's strategy is clearly well-defined, it involves multiple people and it's done over a period of time
"Manchester United, I don't know what their recruitment strategy is. It's clearly disjointed
"You can see in the way they play, they don't possess the leaders. You don't know in recruitment what you're going to get
"You could sign a player, they may not settle, they may not speak the language quickly, lots of things go wrong in recruitment - even though you think you have a fantastic player coming in
"Manchester United have to start at the top. It's not about Jose Mourinho, it's about everything from recruitment, not just short term strategies
"Was Sanchez the right signing for Manchester United - regardless of the fact he was a free? Or did they need perhaps a different type of player
"

✅ Breaking News - Paris Saint-Germain fans go crazy for Mbappe strike - Duration: 1:50.
Paris Saint-Germain fans had more to cheer on Sunday night when their team extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 12 points
Kylian Mbappe grabbed the winner with his 19th league goal of the season, but it was the manner of the strike that got supporters excited
Four players were involved as the reigning champions transformed a Saint-Etienne clearance into a mesmerising goal
January signing Leandro Paredes got the move going by intercepting Stephane Ruffier's kick, heading in the direction of Angel Di Maria
The former Manchester United winger picked out Dani Alves with his own nod, who took one touch before lofting the ball delicately over the defence for Mbappe, who steered an emphatic volley beyond the keeper
Resoponding to the goal on Twitter, one user wrote: 'Mbappe's goal yesterday was pretty special
The pass by Dani Alves though. perfect.' And there was yet more praise for the Brazilian, with another tweeting: 'Great finish by Mbappe but Dani Alves's set up is half of that goal
' PSG supporters will be hoping for more of the same when they return to domestic action on Wednesday
Thomas Tuchel's side host Montpellier at the Parc des Princes and could go 15 points clear at the top of Ligue 1

Al Sharpton: Hold Jussie Smollett accountable if he staged attack - Latest News - Duration: 2:45.
The Rev. Al Sharpton believes Jussie Smollett should face "accountability to the maximum" – if it's found that he made up the hate attack against him
The outspoken civil rights leader addressed recent reports that said the alleged assault on the openly gay and black "Empire" actor may have been staged with two bodybuilding brothers, Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo
"I, among many others when hearing of the report, said that the reports were horrific and that we should come with all that we can come with in law enforcement to find out what happened and the guilty should suffer the maximum," Sharpton said Sunday night on his show "PoliticsNation" on MSNBC
"I still maintain that," he continued. "And if it is that Smollett and these gentlemen did in some way perpetuate something that is not true, they ought to face accountability to the maximum
" When news of the Jan. 29 attack against Smollett broke, Sharpton immediately spoke out to say he was "outraged
" "For Jussie, who's not only a superb actor and singer but an activist who has fought against homophobia and racism andism, to be a victim is something that is totally unacceptable," he told TMZ last month
"I challenge the Chicago law enforcement to do all within their power to find out those that are guilty and they should face the maximum penalty of law
" Chicago police said this weekend that their interviews of the Osundairo brothers – who were arrested on Wednesday but released two days later without charges – "shifted the trajectory" of their ongoing investigation
The latest twist in the case comes as reports emerged that Smollett paid the budding actor-models $3,500 to stage the 2 a
m. attack. Smollett has maintained that two strangers shouted racist and anti-gay slurs and "This is MAGA country!" before dousing him in "chemical substance," likely bleach, and throwing a noose around his neck

Man Utd news: Alan Brazil FUMES over Paul Pogba AGAIN with brutal rant about star - Duration: 2:52.
Manchester United star Pogba has been regularly criticised by Brazil ever since joining from Juventus in 2016
And now, in the aftermath of his red card against PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday, Brazil has gone on another rant over the World Cup winner
"His attitude was a major factor in Jose Mourinho's Manchester United sacking," he wrote in his column for the Sunday Post
"Now Paul Pogba may have cost his team a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League
"I've said it before – the guy is more trouble than he's worth. "And I think the smartest thing United could do is cut their losses and send him packing
"There's no doubt in my mind that Pogba is capable of being a disruptive influence
"You can tell me what a terrific player he is, how he won the World Cup with France, and that he's finally starting to come into his own at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
"I don't care. "As far as I'm concerned, for the money the Reds spent on him – and the wages he earns – Pogba has been pretty average at Old Trafford
"OK, he's had some great performances. "But he's had some stinkers, too. "And that red card against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek sums him up
" Brazil also believes United need to come down hard on Pogba in order to get him firing - despite his improved showings under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
"I wouldn't have put up with it if I were his manager," he added. "The guy would need to keep his shin pads on for the kind of rollocking I'd be dishing out, because, for the best part of £100 million, I'd expect better
"To be fair to Pogba, I'm told he was furious with himself afterwards. "He was caught battering his locker in the changing room, then apologised to his team-mates
"That's the least I'd expect. "After all, this is Manchester United we're talking about – a club where players are bred to take responsibility
"

Russias RT slams Facebook for blocking wildly popular page News Al Jazeera - Duration: 2:22.
Russias RT slams Facebook for blocking wildly popular page News Al Jazeera
RTs subsidiary project that failed to disclose its Russian funding to visitors didnt violate rules, TV channel says.
has blocked a page run by Russian state TV channel RT that did not disclose its Russian funding to visitors, according to the channels editor who criticised the move as an attack on rights.
Margarita Simonyan, RTs editor in chief, said on her Telegram social network account on Monday the page of the networks English language subsidiary project, In the Now, was "wildly popular" with 2.5 billion views and four million subscribers "on Facebook alone".
Simonyan said a report aired by CNN about the project being financed by the Russian state led to "Facebook immediately blocking us! Without presenting any of the accusations".
"We didnt violate any Facebook rules," she said.
Simonyan said it should not be an issue that the page did not disclose its Russian funding to visitors.
Asked to comment, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said RT "must receive an explanation from Facebook regarding what exactly was the reason" for it being blocked.
A YouTube channel describes the project as striving "to build a community of mindful media consumers around important, curious and purpose driven content".
Launched on YouTube in March 2014, it makes no mention of any affiliation with RT or and reports more than 2.8 million views.
The topics of the most recent videos included cleaning up the oceans, the "yellow vest" protests in France, the rise of atheism and Russian football hooligans.
The funded project EU vs Disinfo, a campaign to "respond to pro Kremlin disinformation", has said In the Now was launched to attract younger audiences turned off by RTs political stories.
It does this "by adding videos with high emotional and entertainment value" that are used as "bait" to "camouflage" the projects ties to Russia, EU vs Disinfo said.
Last month, Facebook said it removed more than 500 pages originating in Russia for engaging in "coordinated inauthentic behaviour".
Most of the removed accounts were found to be linked to employees of Sputnik, a state news agency launched in late 2014 that is also run by Simonyan.
Facebook said at the time the blocked pages created accounts "to mislead others about who they were and what they were doing".

✅ Breaking News - Chris Ashton could return for England's final two Six Nations games - Duration: 3:14.
England hope to have Chris Ashton available for the final two rounds of their Guinness Six Nations title quest as the Sale wing battles a calf strain
Ashton suffered the injury in training during the squad's three-day camp in London and will receive treatment at his club Sale this week, ruling him out of Saturday's showdown with Wales in Cardiff
It is hoped the Sharks wing will return in time to face Italy and Scotland, however
'Chris got a little bit tight on Friday so he's back at his club rehabbing,' assistant coach John Mitchell said
'Because of the extent of the injury, he's not in consideration for Wales but we hope to see him back for Italy week
Share this article Share 'Chris was just standing in open field at the time, touching the calf
One of the staff noticed that, the medical team were on to it and we withdrew him
'Jack Nowell was among the heroes in the 32-20 victory over Ireland but was demoted to the bench against France, enabling Ashton to make his first Six Nations start for six years
Nowell is firm favourite to reclaim the number 14 jersey against Warren Gatland's title challengers, but another option is Joe Cokanasiga
Cokanasiga played his first game for over two months in Bath's victory against Newcastle on Saturday having recovered from a knee injury and is in strong contention for a bench role at the Principality Stadium
'Jack was very impressive against Ireland and brings a slightly different skill set to Chris
He's very capable in the air as well,' Mitchell said.'It was really important for Joe to get some rugby for Bath
It's always good to cross the line as a winger so that was probably very good for him mentally
'Another week this week will prepare him even better. He's a big strong lad and is also good in the air as well
'England and Wales are the only teams with 100 per cent records in the Six Nations after two rounds, setting up a mouthwatering collision
'Wales are pretty good and have been improving progressively over a long period of time under Warren,' Mitchell said
'They have a style of rugby that suits them and they're very comfortable with that
'They're a very passionate rugby country.'They enjoy moving the ball and have a lot of variety in their game as well, so that makes them a different threat

James Bond 25 to get re-write after news release date is pushed back two months - Duration: 2:30.
It's only been a day since the news Bond 25 has been pushed back two months was announced
The film was set for a Valentine's Day release in 2020, but now it's set for Easter, April 8, 2020
Now there's another upset - a new screenwriter has been reportedly hired to work on the script for Daniel Craig 's final Bond outing
According to The Playlist , Eon Productions has got Scott Z. Burns on board to rewrite the script originally penned by Bond stalwarts Neal Purvis and Robert Wade
The report says Burns won't be just tinkering with the script, but instead a big script overhaul has begun
The Playlist dubs Burns "one of the top emergency rescue script doctors in Hollywood"
" If your script is hemorrhaging, he's one of the first people you call," it reports
He worked on Ocean's 12, The Bourne Supremacy and Widows as well as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Burns had been working on The Report, and apparently had already been asked to work on Bond 25, but was kept busy with the other film
Now The Report is done Burns is free to help out. The news is yet another hiccup for the next Bond movie, with director Danny Boyle leaving earlier in the process
He was replaced by Cary Fukunaga. Bond may be on rocky ground at the moment, but the new Easter box office opening may work in its favour
The franchise also always manages to draw in audiences, and with it being Craig's last Bond film there's the extra interest
Skyfall became the top grossing film in the franchise taking in $1.1 bullion worldwide
Spectre in 2015 earned $880 million. Bond 25 is due for release in cinemas on April 8, 2019
