Waching daily Jan 2 2019

That is the view of BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas. Liverpool go into their showdown with Arsenal at Anfield (5

30pm) six points clear of their nearest challengers Tottenham at the top of the table

Tottenham could trim the Reds' advantage to three points with a win at home to Wolves (3pm)

The Reds have been imperious so far this term, conceding just seven goals in 19 league outings and remain undefeated

Aside from that, they haven't lost in their last 30 league matches at Anfield. After Arsenal, the Merseysiders have a few days to recover before they travel to face Manchester City at the Etihad on January 3 (8pm)

While City showed signs a few weeks ago that they would romp to the title again, Pep Guardiola's men slipped up against Crystal Palace and Leicester

Jenas is adamant that if Liverpool pass their tests against Arsenal and City, they won't automatically be challengers for the title

"I don't think it is there's no," Jenas said when asked whether the Reds will go on to claim the league if they win their next two games

"Nobody would have said City would drop points to Palace and Leicester. "It was always going to be the big games where they would be dropping points or a big team coming to town to play them at home

"I still think Liverpool have a couple of those in them.  "They might not get beat, but to be consistently getting those three points, they might get a few draws here or there and City or Tottenham might catch them

"No way do I think it's a done deal. "Jurgen Klopp is saying all the right things

Chelsea transfer news: Chelsea do not expect Eden Hazard to do this soon amid transfer fear - Duration: 3:54.

Real Madrid are eager to lure the Belgian away from Stamford Bridge as a belated replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hazard - out of contract at the end of next season - has admitted it is his "dream" to play for the Spanish giants.

He is stalling on an extension at Chelsea, which has club chiefs panicking over his future.

According to Bleacher Report, Blues boss are convinced Hazard wants out.. And it is claimed they believe there is a high chance he will be off next summer.

However, Chelsea are not expecting Hazard to inform them of a decision on his future soon.

Hazard's international boss Roberto Martinez believes Hazard should stick at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard will never let you down," Martinez told Belgian publication HLN.. He honestly cares about the people around him.

I don't know if a new challenge would be good for him.. "He knows how much they love him at Chelsea

And there's chemistry between Sarri and him.. "Eden enjoys himself at Chelsea. He has reached an exceptional level at that club.

Then it's uncertain if a new project would be good for him.. "I'm convinced that he can reinvent himself at Chelsea

Look at him now – even as a [No.] 9.". Former Arsenal star Paul Merson believes Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley should look to replace Hazard if Real Madrid do secure his signature.

He's a good player and Chelsea have a lot of games coming up in the new year," Merson told Sky Sports.

I don't see Eden Hazard being there next season, and Barkley may be one of those that has to step up

I think the older he gets, the better he'll get.. "He's definitely improved as a player, and I think he'll improve again

I've always been a fan of his, but didn't think he understood the game as much as he does now.

He took too many touches, but now knows when to release the ball. He has learned very quickly."

Arsenal transfer news: Aaron Ramsey replacement latest as Gunners get Ever Banega update - Duration: 3:37.

Arsenal are on the lookout for potential signings with the January transfer window now in full swing

And Unai Emery has been tipped to secure a reunion with Banega, who he coached at Valencia and Sevilla

Reports in Spain and Argentina have claimed the midfielder has been lined up as Aaron Ramsey's replacement

**PREDICT FIVE RESULTS AND WIN £25,000 - FREE TO PLAY HERE** However, it seems Arsenal might be facing disappointment if Sevilla cannot buy Pastore from Roma

According to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, Roma are determined to keep hold of Pastore this month

And that stance comes after Sevilla were backed to snap him up to take Banega's place in their midfield

If Sevilla cannot land someone to fill Banega's boots, the 30-year-old is unlikely to leave the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan

And that means Arsenal may have to go looking elsewhere should they cut their losses on Ramsey by striking a January deal

Ramsey's contract expires at the end of June and the Gunners have opted against offering him a new one

But they could recoup some of their investment in him by selling up this month. Ramsey, though, might sign a pre-contract agreement with a team outside of England

Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are set to hold talks with him regarding a possible summer move

And Arsenal will not be entitled to a fee if Ramsey comes to such an arrangement

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has previously bemoaned the club's decision not to tie Ramsey down

"It seems to me that the manager has said: 'I can get better somewhere else'" said Merson in October

"The contract was on the table and Arsenal withdrew it, and it sounds like to me the manager has said: 'Hold on a minute, I'm not giving him that kind of money, I can get a better player than that'

"But giving a player £200,000-a-week is going to be a lot less than buying a £40m player and giving him £130,000-a-week

"It's typical Arsenal isn't it. How can they let the contract of a quality player like that run down? They've done it too many times now

"When I was there, when there was 18 months or two years left on your contract you were called in for another one

"My contract never, ever, went to less than 18 months at Arsenal."

Arsenal transfer news: Unai Emery ready to complete Chelsea deal, club debating OFFER - Duration: 2:45.

The Blues centre-back has been shunned from the first team so far this season, and the Premier League side is reportedly willing to listen to offers

His game-time has been limited due to the success of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger

It was originally believed that Cahill could leave Stamford Bridge on a loan deal, with a view to leaving in the summer

Aston Villa reportedly wanted to bring in the veteran to sure up their defence, but were stumped with a £4 million loan fee

Unai Emery is also reportedly a fan of the defender, and looking to add him to the team if his injury problems worsen

Arsenal currently have two defenders out injured, while Laurent Koscielny is still recovering having returned to the team to face Liverpool on Saturday

Konstantinos Mavropanos and Rob Holding are both some way off returning to the fray

Liverpool transfer news: Adrien Rabiot saga takes twist with several meetings held - Duration: 2:52.

The wantaway youngster has been linked with a move to Anfield as his contract runs down

The 23-year-old will be a free agent in the summer, and will spend January talking to clubs as he looks for a move away from the Parc des Princes

He is reportedly being courted by Barcelona, who see him as the successor to the Andres Iniesta and Xavi throne

But now, it appears that he could be set to make a move to the Premier League leaders

According to L'Equipe in France, 'several meetings' have been held to discuss a potential move from Paris to Merseyside

There has been no confirmation as to whether or not Rabiot was involved in these meetings, or whether his representatives took control

Rabiot's agent, also his mother, has reportedly demanded a colossal £8.95 sign-on fee, as well as a long-term contract with a high salary

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has reportedly banned Rabiot from the dressing room until his situation is sorted

Technical director Antero Henrique has confirmed that PSG will not be making any further contract offers to Rabiot

"At this point, no [there will be no more offers]," he said. "The club decided this after a meeting that I had with the player

"The player informed me that he will not be signing a new contract and that he wants to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season

"For the player, the consequences are clear -- he is indefinitely benched. "A few months ago, there were positive exchanges with his representative [agent and mother Veronique] with a view to him staying with the club and signing a new deal

"We also accepted all of his conditions regarding things related to what happens on the pitch

"We discussed these specifics to ensure that he would stay with us for many years

"Unfortunately, since then, negotiations have completely stopped."

Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp identifies deal he wants - because of one player - Duration: 2:48.

Liverpool boss Klopp has steered his side to the top of the Premier League table, with the Reds currently boasting a seven-point lead over fierce rivals Manchester City

The Merseyside giants' season has been a successful one so far and, as a result, transfers appear unlikely

**PREDICT FIVE RESULTS AND WIN £25,000 - FREE TO PLAY HERE** The Liverpool manager has already confirmed he could invest in January should the opportunity arise, saying: "I'm very happy with what I've got and what I have but, how I said, we don't know

"That's the only little bit why I keep the door open because if some things happen - a few more things - then we need to have to have a look

"There is coming a monstrous number of games still and it's really important always that we can react, but as long as we can react it's all good

"If something will dramatically change then we need to have a look, that's all. If nothing happens then I would say we will not do anything

" And the Times say Klopp wants a left-back. Their 'greatest concern' is strengthening with Alberto Moreno eager to return to Spain

Andy Robertson is the Reds' first-choice left-back. But a deputy is required and the Times say that could be where Liverpool invest

Moreno, meanwhile, recently criticised Klopp for his decision to reduce his game time

"I do not feel good, that is the truth," Moreno told Cadena Ser. "I hurt myself giving everything for this team and I think that when I came back from injury, I deserved an opportunity

"The situation is normal for a lot of players but simply, I did not like the way he [Jurgen Klopp] has treated me, you can say that

"Moving back to Spain is something I have thought about. "I am tired of the cold here but I do not know about interests from other clubs

"I am in my fifth year here, there is no agreement on a renewal and in January, I am free to listen to any offer

"
