News From Afghanistan Uncovered That Obama Knew How To Make A Bad Deal
this morning I called Bob and Jani Bergdahl and told them that after nearly
five years in captivity their son Beau is coming home as part of this effort in
the United States is transferring five detainees from the prison in Guantanamo
Bay to Qatar the Qatari government has given us assurances that it will put in
place measures to protect our national security so disturbing update tonight on
a highly controversial prisoner swap swap that was negotiated under President
Obama as you saw in 2014 when five high-risk Taliban members were released
in exchange for former Army sergeant Bowe Bergdahl Bergdahl had wandered off
his base in Afghanistan back in 2009 and he was captured by the terror group for
years Americans searched for him during that time six soldiers were killed in
the process and last year Bergdahl pled guilty to desertion and
after that many including President Trump said that they believed that he
was a traitor now those five terrorists have joined the Taliban's political
office in Qatar so joining me now Lieutenant Colonel Michael waltz a
former Green Beret commander who led the search missions for Bergdahl and he is
now running for Congress in Florida Colonel Walsh good to have you here
tonight so thank you first of all what goes
through your mind as somebody who searched for him when you see that these
individuals are now reengaged with the Taliban well Martha this can just just
continues to be an outrage to every soldier who sacrificed who fought over
there who participated in that search private Bergdahl stacked up his gear
left his weapon behind sent emails denouncing America and defected to the
enemy and now he is walking free private Bergdahl is walking free somewhere and
now the five most senior what were essentially the Taliban is war cabinet
that Americans also sacrificed to capture and put in Guantanamo are also
free it's also Martha it's just it's important to point out it's also a slap
in the face to the Afghan people these five senior Taliban were
murderers and had massacred thousands of Afghan minorities and they were never
the Afghan government was never offered an opportunity to bring them to justice
before the Obama administration set them free so it's just one amongst a list of
bad deals that the Obama administration is responsible for yeah I think it's
tough what do you think they're gonna do now you know I mean now they're they're
part of the political operation in Carter what does that mean so you know a
lot of analysts are debating whether this means that the Taliban are serious
about maybe negotiating others are saying that no this is returned to the
old hardliners the way Martha Yoh talks are going to take some time and I
guarantee you these guys are not sitting around singing Kumbaya and god bless
america they're there recruiting their
fundraising any any terrorist who was held in Guantanamo is essentially a
celebrity in jihadist world they're inspiring more attacks and for the tens
of thousands of Americans that are in 60 to 70 countries including Afghanistan as
we speak keeping us safe I think this is just awful all around and you know
Martha if I can make another point we have hostages American citizens
journalists aid workers held by terrorists and rogue regimes all over
the world and this deal violated decades of precedent that America doesn't
negotiate with terrorists and so guess what whether they're Isis or the Iran
regime or you name it they now want their deal like President Obama gave the
Taliban and it just make it's making it harder this is a terrible deal for
everyone and and I just think it's outrageous that they're now free
you know before let you go I just want to ask you one quick question about all
of these troops being sent to the border and potentially even 15,000 because you
heard you know one of our previous guests perhaps saying you know that it
was all just a stunt and that it's ridiculous to send that many troops to
the border what do you think well I think what's important here and that
President Trump knows it's the message that it sends right that that I
understand that these people and I sympathize that are leaving a terrible
life and they want a better life in America but we are a nation of borders
we are a nation of laws I sponsored an Afghan soldier who fought with us to
come over here he waited five years to get that special immigrant visa and he's
now here he started it on business with his family but his cousin and his
cousin's entire family were executed first it for fighting with us there's
over 50,000 of them on a waiting list that deserve to be here not through a
lottery system or not through somebody who just walks over our border and you
won't find anyone that's more outraged about illegal immigration than
immigrants who did it legally and and we have to uphold those laws great point
all right Colonel thank you very much good to see you tonight all right
thanks so much
Chuck Hagel will testify before House lawmakers tomorrow this will be
interesting this amid new report said he was the one
who made the final call and authorizing the prisoner swap of five high-ranking
Taliban detainees in exchange for Bowe Bergdahl who is being held in
Afghanistan buck McKeon chairman of the House Armed Services Committee where
Hagel testified chairs that committing he is my guest now
how are you sir twice in one week we have spoken now and who made the call
was it the commander in chief or was it Chuck Hagel I think when I first heard
about it I saw the president with the Bergdahl's on television I don't I
didn't see secretary Hagel it sounded like it was a presidential program all
the way now that there's been a little pushback yesterday in our briefing the
briefers from the various departments were asked who made the final decision
and they said secretary Hagel so I hope they're not just pushing him out to to
be a fall guy for this chance talk to him you've been around a long time I
mean what would make sense as to why they would answer it that way I I think
there's been some negative feedback on this I think people see now that they
are learning a little bit more about the five terrorists that were released from
Guantanamo there's lots of concern the the little segment just before of what's
happened in Iraq we left Iraq with with no none of our troops left behind to
make sure that kind of thing didn't happen the plan is to be leaving troops
behind in Afghanistan but by leaving giving them back these five real
high-ranking leaders of the Taliban they'll be freed from Qatar in a year
and be able to enter the fight just as we are we're pulling out of it and I
think it puts the 9800 troops of ours the 5,000 from NATO at greater risk than
they would have been a couple of weeks ago yeah I think secretary Kerry said
that was that was baloney to paraphrase his comment he is is that
just baloney that he's fine could return to the battle I hope he's
right but we know that the recidivism the detainees that have been released
from Guantanamo at least 30% of them that we know of have returned to the
fight now I would wreck guess venture to guess that out of these
5 they'll probably be more like a hundred percent returning to the fight
they're very high ranking very hardcore terrorists one of them's already said oh
yeah sure I'm going back to Afghanistan I'm back in the fight
so I would like to be assured that the secretary kerry's right I don't know
what he's basing that on indeed you know especially for the people of Afghanistan
ten days ago Meet the Press Chuck Hagel I signed off on the decision the
president made the ultimate decision we did spend time looking at this I guess
as commander-in-chief and you pointed out there in the Rose Garden together
yeah I I think I think people understand who
made this decision this goes right to the to the top or maybe we don't know
who's in charge of the White House that's the thing that that's almost as
unsettling as thinking the president made the decision and now they're saying
secretary Hagel made the decision I think they're parsing words worrying
about who gets the blame if things really go bad Wow it's that's
interesting and I'm certain you'll have some questions about this tomorrow what
do you need to know based on what we've been told or what we think we know so
far last year we passed the law that because we've been we've been concerned
about they're releasing these prisoners these hardcore guys out of Guantanamo we
passed a law that passed overwhelmingly 59 to two out of our committee
overwhelmingly passed on the floor and then and then was signed into law by the
president that said the Congress should get a 30-day notice before any prisoners
are released from Guantanamo I didn't find out about this until I saw it on
the news and then later received a letter
from the secretary they violated the law he could give you an answer in that
perhaps but I'm reading that 80 or 90 people apparently within the
administration knew about this but does the luck does the law give you the
authority to stop such a transfer or does it give you just a heads up that
it's about to happen before it is just just a notification so he's still the
commander in chief he still can do what what he's what he wants but in a
briefing I had prior to the briefing yesterday last week they briefed some of
our staff and I had tended that briefing they they brought up the fact they were
concerned about a leak and a leak would jeopardize the whole thing and probably
put sergeant Bergdahl at more risk and yet I as I tried to pin him down on how
many people in the White House and the State Department and the Defense
Department Justice Department knew about this before it took place they said well
quite a few and I said to no more than that I said a hundred no more nests so
somewhere they said between two and a hundred yesterday they said it's between
80 and 90 that's not good enough for me I think if they don't know the name of
every single person that knew about this how could they if a leak took place if
sergeant Bergdahl had been killed who would how would they go back and
find out the leak if they just think it's between 80 and 90 people and then
the fact that they had more trust in those people than an elected member of
Congress it just it it kind of blows your mind
I understand the point you're making and we'll be watching for that hearing
tomorrow 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time a lot of questions out there that still need
answers sir thank you for your time let me claim from the hill we'll be in
contact with you in your office Thanks 20 thank you here's your money thank you
god bless you and God bless america
you

Little Mix Release New Girl Power Bop "Joan of Arc" | Billboard News - Duration: 1:18.
Little Mix are on a roll and don't look to be slowing down anytime soon as the
group return with the anthemic - "Joan of Arc!"
Dropping overnight, "Joan of Arc" serves as a nice follow up to their collab with
Nicki Minaj on "Woman Like Me."
Oddly enough, "Woman Like Me" found itself in the midst of a Hip-Hop beef this
week betweeen Nicki Minaj and Cardi B after the Bodak Yellow rapper alleged the
group sent her the track before Nicki hopped on it.
The steamy 20 second visual teaser was posted on social as well featuring the members
in black bodysuits and hats dropping their hips and swinging their shoulders against
a flashy collage of projections.
As the Mixers are already well aware, 'LM5' is coming and the new album will be
here November 16 and is expected to feature both "Joan of Arc" and "Woman Like Me."
