Man Utd news: Mourinho on Pogba, Andreas Pereira admission, Alexis Sanchez injury fears - Duration: 4:42.
Mourinho's Pogba captaincy claim Paul Pogba is not the Manchester United captain for the time-being but has the ability to take the armband in the future
That's the belief of Jose Mourinho. The France international has been linked with a summer move to Barcelona with his agent Mino Raiola thought to be keen to architect a move away from Old Trafford
But Pogba turned in an excellent display in United's first Premier League match of the season while wearing the captain's armband, also scoring a third-minute penalty
The midfielder is also in line to skipper the side when they face Brighton this afternoon (4pm) with first-choice captain Antonio Valencia out injured
"Is he the captain? No. Antonio Valencia is," Mourinho said. "Antonio Valencia didn't play
He was my choice to be the captain which was a process that started already last season
"Last season we thought about it [Pogba taking the captaincy] before the game against Basel
"We thought he was young guy but had a good personality, made in the academy, normally a starting line-up player
"He has conditions to be a captain in the future, and in the continuity of this, with no Antonio in the team, he was the captain
"In the next match [against Brighton] I don't think Antonio is going to play so Paul will be the captain again but when Antonio comes back he will be the captain
"United 'reliant' on Mourinho Andreas Pereira says he and his Manchester United team-mates are reliant on manager Jose Mourinho and his winning mentality
The Red Devils boss has come under scrutiny in recent months with United having had a turbulent pre-season in which Mourinho's rants dominated the headlines
But despite tumultuous preparations for the Premier League season, United opened their 2018-19 campaign with a 2-1 win over Leicester City last weekend
Pereira - called up to the Brazil squad for the first time on Friday - was rewarded for an impressive pre-season with a start against Leicester, his first senior appearance in just shy of 900 days
And the attacking midfielder has admitted that United depend on their manager to turn them into serial winners
"We rely on him because he always prepares the team well," Pereira told the club's in-house television channel, MUTV
"He knows what to do. He is a winner and he always wants to win. "So because he is like that we turn into that and we want to be like him, so we turn into winners as well so it's very important
" On his own development after loans at Granada and Valencia, Pereira added: "It was very important for me
"I think I've totally changed after the two loans - I'm more mature, playing like an adult
I think I really grew up into football over there. "I think they really helped me and I think if I stayed here I wouldn't have had the progression that I had when I went on loan, so I think it helped me a lot
" Sanchez out of Brighton clash? Alexis Sanchez was a curious absentee as Manchester United's squad jetted down to the south coast to face Brighton today
United's first-team boarded a private jet at Manchester Airport yesterday afternoon but the Chilean winger was not spotted by photographers
Mourinho's players have previously travelled to fixtures separately before and Jose Mourinho did not mention any injury problems with Sanchez in his pre-match press conference with Sanchez having taken part in training throughout the week
The 29-year-old was below par in United's first Premier League game of the season at home to Leicester last weekend and lost possession 23 times in their 2-1 win
With information on Sanchez currently in short supply, United fans will get a clearer idea as to whether or not he will be involved at Brighton throughout the day
Team news is expected at 3pm.

Arsenal team news: Predicted line up vs Qarabag – Henrikh Mkhitaryan WON'T travel - Duration: 2:26.
Arsenal will jet off for the long trip to face Qarabag for their Europa League clash on Thursday – but Henrikh Mkhitaryan won't be travelling
The Armenian native requires a special permit to enter Azerbaijan due to ongoing tensions and conflict between the two nations
Entertainers – including footballers – can be classed as exceptions to current rules that restrict Armenian nationals from entering the country
Arsenal and Mkhitaryan chose not to apply for special permission, therefore he is ruled out of the game he would have been likely to start in under normal circumstances
His absence is likely to open the door for teenage sensation Emile Smith-Rowe to get another chance to impress in the first team
Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi are expected to start, while Aaron Ramsey is likely to be included in the starting XI
The Welshman's form has dipped amid reports he is set to leave the club once his contract expires
However, Unai Emery is more likely to start Ramsey against Qarabag before turning to other options in upcoming Premier League games
Bernd Leno will start in goal due to Petr Cech's hamstring injury, while Konstantinos Mavropanos, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Laurent Koscielny also remain sidelined
Sead Kolasinac is back from injury and will slot into the left-back role to give Nacho Monreal a break after the Spanish star's long stretch of games
Predicted Arsenal team vs Qarabag (4-2-3-1) Leno; Lichtsteiner, Sokratis, Holding, Kolasinac; Elneny, Guendouzi; Smith-Rowe, Ramsey, Iwobi; Welbeck
