Dalvin Cook Fantasy: Latest News Makes Vikings RB a Risky Play | Heavy.com

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has fantasy football owners in a tough spot.

Fantasy football owners will have their hands full this week when attempting to figure out what to do with Dalvin Cook.

The Minnesota Vikings' talented second-year running back missed Week 3 due to a hamstring injury, and his Week 4 status for Thursday Night Football remains up in the air.

Update.

This makes Cook a risky play in all formats (ignore all content below), and a likely fade in daily fantasy games.

Realistically, it would be smart to look at using another option either as a starting running back or flex player in your fantasy lineups for Week 4.

The Argument for Starting Dalvin Cook.

Sometimes, talent just trumps everything.

Cook's pass-catching makes him an incredibly intriguing play in most formats, as the Rams have allowed 24 catches to opposing running backs through three weeks.

If Cook is all systems go, he should see plenty of targets coming his way in the passing game.

And while this season's numbers haven't been overwhelmingly impressive, the 23-year-old was impressive in the four games he played last year.

Over that stretch, Cook was a workhorse with 74 carries for 354 yards and two touchdowns.

The upside is unquestionably there, but it's not as simple as just going off that.

The Argument for Sitting Dalvin Cook.

There are some reasons for concern after Cook's start to the 2018 NFL season.

The Vikings running back is coming off a torn ACL last season and has totaled 26 carries for 78 yards (30 yards per carry) through the two games he played.

With that said, he did manage to catch nine passes for 107 yards.

In this specific instance, the negatives outweigh the positives in a big way for fantasy football owners.

Not only has Cook struggled this season, but hamstring injuries are nothing to mess around with.

Just last week, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette was expected to play but was held out in somewhat of a surprising decision.

Even if the Vikings do start Cook, one tweak could send him to the sidelines not only for this game but for a few additional weeks.

It's unlikely the team wants to risk that, so they could opt to play it safe.

Going beyond the actual injury, the numbers don't favor the Vikings running back in this matchup.

Aside from the pass-catching opportunities, the Rams have allowed just 96.7 rushing yards per game (No.

9 in the league) and two rushing touchdowns.

It's a tough matchup for Cook, and with the Rams boasting a high-scoring offense, Minnesota could be forced to throw early and often.

Consensus.

If Cook is cleared to play, I'm fine using him in daily fantasy games, such as DraftKings' showdown options.

But in season-long leagues, unless you have no one even remotely close to him in upside, I'd try to find another option.

Cook has the potential to put all the stats and numbers aside and just dominate, but with the matchup and injury together, it's a scary spot.

In 12-team leagues with flex and 14-teamers, I can understand rolling him out in your starting lineup.

But beyond that, I think playing it safe with the Vikings back and treading lightly Thursday is the smart move.

Breaking News - Jack Grealish admits disappointment at failed Tottenham move - Duration: 2:30.

Jack Grealish has admitted that he was disappointed to miss out on a move to Tottenham this summer

A switch had looked likely but Spurs were unable to agree a transfer fee with Aston Villa

Grealish this week signed a new five-year contract with Villa that saw his wage double to around £45,000 per week

But despite committing his future to the Championship side, Grealish told The Telegraph that his head was turned by Spurs and that he believed had he moved then a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad may have soon followed

He said: 'Of course, there's going to be disappointment there. You've just got to look at what Spurs have done this season

They've beaten Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, they're playing Barcelona in the Champions League next week

'I felt that if I'd gone there I could have maybe been in the England squad by the end of the year

I would never have gone there just to make up the numbers. 'I would have been a squad player, obviously, because you have to look at how good their players are

But I genuinely thought that after a month or two of training, I could have really made an impact

'At the start of the season my head was swivelled, it was all over the place. Even after the transfer window closed, until the end of August, I wasn't right

' Spurs offered £25million for Grealish but Villa were reluctant to sell after a takeover improved their financial situation

Villa have had a mixed start to the season. After winning their first three matches, they went six in a row without tasting victory

They currently sit 13th in the Championship table, five points off the top and three below the playoffs

Grealish has started all nine of Villa's league games so far, contributing one assist

Breaking News - Ian Poulter conducts Viking Thunder Clap with Ryder Cup fans - Duration: 3:58.

Ian Poulter may not be involved in Friday morning's fourballs, but he was still on hand to get Team Europe fans pumped up ahead of the start of this year's Ryder Cup

The Englishman, who has 12 points from his five appearances in the competition, made use of his status as a Ryder Cup legend at Le Golf National by conducting thousands of fans through a rendition of the Thunder Clap

It added to an already raucous atmosphere at the first tee, where the 6,900-seat grandstand was close to capacity before the sun had even risen over Versailles

Their Thunder Clap effort would have made Iceland's football team, who introduced it to the world of sport at the European Championships in 2016, proud

But Ryder Cup fans had little excuse not to be well coordinated after getting in a dress rehearsal with Rory McIlroy during Wednesday's practise round

The Northern Irishman was treated to a similar response from fans eager to get involved

Friday morning's effort certainly stoked the flames of a special atmosphere, which only seems to rear its head in golf for this special competition

Indeed, at no other time does fan involvement seemingly play such a huge part in the sport

That much was made clear by Le Golf National's decision to install a gigantic grandstand on the first tee, which takes a mammoth 94 steps to reach the top and seats almost 7,000 fans

The grandstand was at capacity by the time the first fourball teed off and Tony Finau got his first taste of Ryder Cup life

The Team USA star was booed incessantly as he approached the tee, but fans were respectful and fell to a deft silence as he hit the first shot of this year's competition

However, it appears the partisan atmosphere may have got to him as his drive went within inches of the water hazard

Luckily, Brooks Koepka spared his blushes with a more routine drive down the fairway

Poulter was able to relax with fans on Friday morning after being he was surprisingly left out of the fourballs by Team Europe captain Thomas Bjorn

Poulter is renowned for playing his best golf in the Ryder Cup and boasts a record of 12 wins, four loses and two ties from his five appearances

With a winning record of 72.2 per cent, Poulter is the most prolific Ryder Cup player to have competed in a minimum of 15 matches

He is likely to be back in action for the singles, where he has won a staggering four matches out of five

But beyond his play, it is the passion that he displays that has helped to endear him to fans of both Team Europe and Team USA

So much so that NBA legend Michael Jordan could not help but give Poulter, who has so regularly been the thorn in Team USA's side, a warm greeting at the first tee

A huge golf fan himself, Jordan appeared to share a joke with Poulter before being introduced to his son, Luke

Although the peak of Jordan's career was well before the 14-year-old's time, the youngster still looked a little starstruck by the Chicago Bulls legend

Chelsea news: Eden Hazard reveals hope of Real Madrid transfer snub in new contract tease - Duration: 3:32.

The Belgian international has been in talks with the Blues for over a year about a new deal but has yet to show any sign of putting pen-to-paper

That is a major concern to Chelsea fans in his current form, having been instrumental to their strong start with six goals in seven appearances

Hazard's form continues on from a strong World Cup showing for Belgium, with Hazard having sparked rumours he could quit Stamford Bridge in the summer as he flirted with a move to Real Madrid

The 27-year-old's public comments over Los Blancos included calling them a "special" club who "make you dream" as well as hinting they were his "preferred destination" if he opted to leave Chelsea

Hazard has shown no sign of discontent since the start of the season but his form is bound to attract the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona next summer

Even more so if Hazard does not sign a new contract before then, with his current deal expiring in 2020 and leaving Chelsea in a weak position in negotiations

But speaking after scoring the winner over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in mid-week, Hazard responded to rumours that he had put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Chelsea by saying: "I haven't signed a contract

Not yet. Not yet." And Hazard also spoke about how much he is enjoying playing in a more attack-minded team under Maurizio Sarri

He added: "You see [what has changed] on the pitch. We have different players, players we didn't have last season, players who like to have the ball

"We have more possession than before. The attacking players benefit from that. We get more touches, more opportunities to create chances, to dribble more, more chances to shoot on target

"Sarri is a manager who likes to have the ball. That makes a big difference.  "Besides that, he's an Italian

Just like under [Antonio] Conte there's a lot of tactics and we have to work hard in training

"I don't feel like saying that I didn't have any freedom under my previous managers

Conte and [Jose] Mourinho also let me do what I wanted in the last third. That's why I could excel under them too

Defensively I know what I have to do." Hazard's form for Chelsea has drawn comparisons to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and Juventus sharpshooter Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mate Ross Barkley thinks he is even currently outperforming the pair

The midfielder hailed: "He [Hazard] is not a selfish player. He is happy getting two assists and the team winning

He is adding goals and he keeps improving.  "What did against Liverpool, honestly he's doing it every day in training so it's no surprise to us

What a goal!  "He's one of the best players in the world and he shows it. But he's been showing it for the last five or six years and he is establishing himself in the top three players in the world

"At the minute, he is the best player in the world, I believe."
