Hello everyone, thank you for joining me, I'm Kerri. Today I'll be showing you how
to crochet this baby fox.
I'll be using 4 ply crochet cotton. I've got orange for the main color, white for
the contrast, brown for the spots on the feet and black for the eyes and the nose.
I've got sewing thread and a needle to stitch it together. I've got my scissors,
a 1.25 millimeter crochet hook and a darning needle to weave in my
ends. Now I'll start on the head, so using my orange I make a magic loop and I work
one chain and then into my circle I work three half double crochet,
three treble,
six half double crochet,
three treble
and three half double crochet.
I pull my circle tight and slip stitch in the top of the first stitch. For row two
I work one chain. I work one half double crochet into the same stitch as the
chain. One half double crochet into the next stitch and two half double crochet
into the following stitch. Now I work 2 treble into each of the next three
stitches. So two treble into each of the next three stitches.
Next I work 2 half double crochet into the following stitch and now 1 half
double crochet into each of the next 4 stitches.
Then 2 half double crochet into the next stitch and 2 treble into each of
the next 3 stitches.
Next we work 2 half double crochet into the next stitch and then 1 half
double crochet into each remaining stitch and slip stitch into the top of
the first stitch. For row 3 we start with 2 chain and work 1 double
crochet into the same stitch as the chain and then work 1 double crochet into
each of the next 4 stitches.
Now work 2 double crochet into each of the following 5 stitches. So that was
2 double crochet into each of the following 5 stitches.
And now 1 double crochet into each of the next 8 stitches.
Now 2 double crochet into each of the following 5 stitches. So that was 2
double crochet into each of the following 5 stitches.
And then 1 double crochet into each stitch to the end
and slip stitch into the top of the first stitch and I'll just need to
tighten my circle, pull it in a bit more.
For row 4 we start with 2 chain and work 1 double crochet into the same
stitch as the chain and then 1 double crochet into each of the following 2
stitches and 2 double crochet in the next stitch.
Now we work 1 double crochet into the next stitch and 2 double crochet into
the following stitch 6 times. That was 1 double crochet into the next stitch
and 2 double crochet into the following stitch 6 times.
Now we work 1 double crochet into each of the next 2 stitches and 2 double
crochet into the following stitch, 2 times. So 1 double crochet into each of
the next 2 stitches and 2 double crochet into the following stitch, 2
times.
Now we work 1 double crochet into the next stitch and 2 double crochet into
the following stitch, 6 times. That was 1 double crochet into the next stitch
and 2 double crochet into the following stitch, 6 times.
Now we work 1 double crochet into each of the next 2 stitches. 2 double
crochet into the following stitch and
1 double crochet into each remaining stitch
and join with a slip stitch in the top of the first stitch. For row 5 we
start with 2 chain and work 1 double crochet in the same place as the chain.
Then we work 1 double crochet into each of the next 2 stitches and 2
double crochet into the following stitch and we repeat that to the end of the row.
So that was 1 double crochet into each of the next 2 stitches and 2
into the following stitch, to the end of the row. So I'll work row 5 and I'll meet
you at the end of the row. At the end of the row we join with a slip stitch in
the top of the first stitch and fasten off. Now I'm going to start on the inner
ears now. To find where I start I find my center stitch and I start 5 stitches
up from the center stitch, so this stitch here. I join my white cotton
and I work 2 chain and then I work 1 half double crochet into each of the
next 4 stitches.
For row 2 we start with 2 chain and turn and I work a joined half double
crochet over the first 2 stitches and a joined half double crochet over the
last 2 stitches. For a joined half double crochet I put my yarn around the
hook, I put my hook into the first stitch and bring up a loop, yarn around the hook,
hook into the next stitch and bring up a loop, yarn around the hook and take it
through all the loops on my hook. And then I work another joined half double
crochet over the last 2 stitches. For row 3 I start with 2 chain and
turn and I work a joined half double crochet over the 2 stitches and fasten
off.
And that's the first ear done. Now for the second ear I miss 11 stitches and
join my cotton to the next stitch and the second ear is worked the same. So I work 2
chain and then work 1 half double crochet into each of the next 4
stitches. For row 2 I start with 2 chain and turn and work
a joined half double crochet over the first 2 stitches and a joined half
double crochet over the last 2 stitches.
And for row 3 I start with 2 chain and turn and work a joined half double crochet
over the 2 stitches and fasten off. Now I'll just weave in my ends before I do
the outer ears. Now for around the ear we join our cotton 2 stitches before our
first ear and we work 1 double crochet or 2 double crochet if needed into
each stitch around the first ear. We need the ear to stay flat.
Around the tip I'm working 2 double crochet into the stitches.
And then we slip stitch into the head.
Now if you wanted the little bits of fur sticking up, you'd slip stitch into each
stitch to the middle stitch and work them. If not you could either fasten
off and join again two stitches before the next ear or slip stitch across. I'll
slip stitch to the middle stitch and I'll do the fur sticking up. Now for
the fur sticking up we work 4 chain. We miss the first chain and we work
1 slip stitch into each of our remaining chain and then slip stitch
into the same stitch on the head and then work 4 chain. Miss the first chain
and work a slip stitch into each remaining chain
and then slip stitch into the same stitch on the head. If you wanted 3
bits of fur sticking up you'd just work another 4 chain and the slip stitches.
Now you slip stitch into each stitch to the second last stitch before the next
ear and then work 1 double crochet or 2 when needed into each stitch around
the second ear.
And then slip stitch into the head and fasten off
and that's the fox's head done. Now the fox's body, the orange bit is worked the
same as the first 4 rows of the head. So using the orange we start with a
magic loop and work 1 chain, then work 3 half double crochet into our
circle. Then 3 treble,
then 6 half double crochet,
3 treble, 3 half double crochet.
We pull the circle tight and slip stitch into the top of the first stitch.
For row 2 we start with 1 chain and work 1 half double crochet in the same
place as the chain. 1 half double crochet into the next stitch and 2 half double
crochet into the following stitch. Then we work 2 treble into each of the next
3 stitches.
Then we work 2 half double crochet into the next stitch. 1 half double crochet
into each of the next 4 stitches. 2 half double crochet into the following stitch
and then we work 2 treble into each of the next 3 stitches.
2 half double crochet into the following stitch and 1 half double
crochet into each remaining stitch and slip stitch into the top of the first
stitch. For row 3 we start with 2 chain and work 1 double crochet in the
same place as the chain and then 1 double crochet into each of the next
4 stitches.
And then we work 2 double crochet into each of the following 5 stitches.
And then 1 double crochet into each of the next 8 stitches.
Now we work 2 double crochet into each of the next 5 stitches
and then 1 double crochet into each of the remaining stitches
and slip stitch into the top of the first stitch. For row 4 we start with 2 chain
and work 1 double crochet in the same place as the chain and then work 1
double crochet into each of the following 2 stitches. And then 2
double crochet into the next stitch. Now we work 1 double crochet into the next
stitch and 2 double crochet into the following stitch, 6 times. That was 1
double crochet into the next stitch and 2 double crochet into the following
stitch, 6 times.
Then we work 1 double crochet into each of the next 2 stitches and 2 double
crochet into the following stitch, twice. So 1 double crochet into each of the
next 2 stitches and 2 double crochet into the following stitch, 2 times.
Then we work 1 double crochet into the next stitch and 2 double crochet into
the following stitch, 6 times. That was 1 double crochet into the next stitch
and 2 double crochet into the following stitch, 6 times.
Now we work 1 double crochet into each of the next 2 stitches. 2 double crochet
into the following stitch and 1 double crochet into the remaining stitches. Slip
stitch into the top of the first stitch and fasten off and that's the body done.
Now I'll start on the face marking now, so using my white I start with 3
chain. I miss the first chain and I work 1 single crochet into each of
the remaining 2 chain
and then I work 5 chain. For row 2 I work 2 single crochet in the second
chain from the hook
and then work 1 single crochet into each remaining chain.
And then 1 single crochet into each of the single crochet from the previous row,
the 2 single crochet here.
For row 3 we start with 1 chain and work 1 single crochet into each stitch to
the last 3 stitches
and then we work a single crochet cluster over the last 3 stitches.
So I'm just bringing up a loop from each of the last 3 stitches and then I
put my yarn around the hook and I take it through all the loops on the hook.
For row 4 I start with 1 chain and turn and I work a joined single crochet
over the first 2 stitches and work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the
end.
For row five I start with 1 chain and turn. I work a joined single crochet over
the first 2 stitches and work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the
last stitch and I work 2 single crochet into the last stitch.
For row 6 I start with 1 chain and turn. I work 2 single crochet into the first
stitch. Then work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last 2 stitches and
work a joined single crochet over the last 2 stitches. For row 7 I start with
1 chain and turn. I work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last
stitch and I work 2 single crochet into the last stitch. So 1 single crochet
into each stitch to the last stitch and 2 single crochet into the last stitch.
For row 8 I start with 1 chain and turn. I work 1 single crochet into
each stitch to the last 2 stitches
and work a joined single crochet over the last 2 stitches.
For row 9 I start with 1 chain and turn. I work a joined single crochet over the
first 2 stitches. 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last stitch and
I work 2 single crochet into the last stitch. For row 10 I start with 1
chain and turn and I work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the end.
For row 11 I start with 1 chain and turn. I work a joined single crochet
over the first 2 stitches and work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the
last stitch and work 2 single crochet into the last stitch. For row 12 I
start with 1 chain and turn and I work 1 single crochet into each stitch to
the end.
For row 13 I start with 1 chain and turn. I work a joined single crochet
over the first 2 stitches. 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last
stitch and work 2 single crochet into the last stitch and fasten off. Now
that's the first part of our marking done. We'll put these end bits on when we
do the neatening row. Now we join our white cotton in the bottom stitch on the
other end from our tail
and start with 1 chain and work 1 single crochet into the back of the 2
chain and then we work 5 chain. For row 2 we work 2 single crochet in the
second chain from the hook and then we work 1 single crochet into each
remaining chain and a single crochet into each single crochet from the
previous row.
I just flip it over and then work into the back of the single crochet.
For row 3 we start with 1 chain and turn and we work a single crochet into each
stitch to the last 3 stitches.
And then work a single crochet cluster over the last 3 stitches. So we pick
up a loop, in each stitch
and then yarn around and take it through all the stitches, all the loops on the
hook. For row 4 we start with 1 chain and turn and work a joined single
crochet over the first 2 stitches and then work 1 single crochet into each
stitch to the end.
For row 5 we start with 1 chain and turn. We work a joined single crochet over
the first 2 stitches. 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last
stitch and work 2 single crochet into the last stitch. For row 6 we start with
1 chain and turn. We work 2 single crochet into the first stitch. 1 single
crochet into each stitch to the last 2 stitches
and a joined single crochet over the last two stitches. For row 7 we start with 1
chain and turn. We work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last
stitch and we work 2 single crochet into the last stitch.
For row 8 we work 1 chain and turn. We work 1 single crochet into
each stitch to the last 2 stitches
and work a joined single crochet over the last 2 stitches.
For row 9 we work 1 chain and turn. We work a joined single crochet over the first 2
stitches. 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last stitch and work 2
single crochet into the last stitch. For row 10 we work 1 chain and turn and
work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the end.
For row 11 we work 1 chain and turn. We work a joined single crochet
over the first 2 stitches. 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last
stitch and work 2 single crochet into the last stitch. For row 12 we start
with 1 chain and turn and work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the
end.
For row 13 we start with 1 chain and turn. We work a joined single crochet over
the first 2 stitches. 1 single crochet into each stitch to the last
stitch and 2 single crochet into the last stitch and that's the face
marking done. We're going to do a neatening row so we don't fasten off. For
the neatening row I start with 1 chain and I work 1 single crochet into each stitch
along the top.
And I just work 1 single crochet into each stitch along to this next corner
and slip stitch into the corner stitch.
Now I've slip stitched into the corner stitch. Now I'm going to work these little bits
at the end. So I start with 2 chain and I work a joined half double crochet into
the same stitch as my chain and the next stitch and fasten off. For this middle
piece I join at the bottom of the last part of the joined half double crochet
and work 3 chain and work a joined double crochet over the next 2
stitches
and fasten off.
And then I join in the same stitch as the last part of the joined double crochet
and I work 2 chain and I work a joined half double crochet in the same
stitch and the remaining stitches
and fasten off.
To neaten the bottom of our face marking we join just in the stitch at the bottom
of our last cluster and we work 1 single crochet into each stitch along to
about 5 stitches before our center stitch.
And then we work 2 single crochet into the next stitch. 1 single crochet into
the following stitch and we repeat that for about 10 to 12 stitches. 2
single crochet in 1 stitch and 1 single crochet in the next stitch, just
to make the marking bend up at the sides.
And then we work 1 single crochet into each stitch to the corner stitch and we
slip stitch into the corner stitch.
Now we'll work the ends for this end. So we work 2 chain and work a joined half
double crochet into the same stitch as the chain and the next stitch and fasten
off. We join our cotton in the bottom of the last part of our joined half double
crochet and work 3 chain and work a joined double crochet over the next 2
stitches
and fasten off.
We join our cotton in the same stitch as at the last part of our joined double
crochet and work 2 chain
and work a joined half double crochet into the same stitch as our chain and the
next stitch, the last stitch and fasten off.
And that's the face marking done. Now for the eyes, using my black I make a
magic loop and work 1 chain and work 10 half double crochet into my circle.
I pull the circle tight and slip stitch in the top of the first stitch
and fasten off and I'd need another eye.
For the nose I start with 5 chain. I
miss the first chain and I work 1 single crochet into each of the
remaining chain.
For row 2 I start with 1 chain and work a joined single crochet over the first 2
stitches and a joined single crochet over the last 2 stitches.
And for row 3 I start with 1 chain and turn and I work a joined single crochet over
the both the stitches and fasten off.
And that's the nose done. I'll do the body marking now, using my white I start with
a magic loop and work 3 chain and 1 double crochet into the circle.
I pull the circle tight but don't join. For row 2 I start with 3 chain and turn.
I work a double crochet into the stitch and a double crochet into the top
of the chain. For row 3 I start with 3 chain and turn. I work a double
crochet into each of the 2 stitches and a double crochet into the top of the
chain. For row 4 I start with 3 chain and turn. I work a double crochet
into each stitch
and a double crochet into the top of the chain. For row 5 I start with 3 chain and
turn and I work a double crochet into each stitch and a double crochet into
the top of the chain.
Now for the neatening row I start with 1 chain and I work a single crochet
and then 2 chain into each stitch. So a single crochet and then 2 chain. The 2
chain just gives it a little bit of a shaggy look around it. And I continue
that right around up to the corner and up the other side.
I don't worry about doing across the top because it's hidden under the neck. So
I'll continue doing my neatening row and I'll meet you at the end. Once we get
back up to the top we fasten off
and that's the body marking done. For the feet we start with 8 chain, using our
orange
and we work 4 treble into the fifth chain from the hook.
Then we work 1 half double crochet into each of the next 2 chain
and 3 half double crochet into the last chain.
Then working into the chain at the back, the backside, we work 1 half double
crochet into each of the next 2 chain
and a treble into the following stitch
and then slip stitch into the top of the chain from the beginning of the row, so
just up in here. For row 2 we start with 2 chain and work 1 double crochet in
the same place as the chain and then we work 2 double crochet into each stitch
around the foot.
So I'll continue around the row working 2 double crochet into each stitch and
I'll meet you at the end of the row. At the end of the row I slip stitch in the
top of the first stitch and fasten off. And I'd need to work another foot the
same. Now for the small dots for the feet, we need 6, using my brown I make a magic
loop and work 1 chain and work 4 single crochet into my circle.
I pull the circle tight and slip stitch into the top of the first stitch
and fasten off and I've got a tiny circle. For the bigger spots, I need 2
of them, I make a magic loop and work 1 chain and work 8 half double crochet
into my circle.
I pull the circle tight and slip stitch into the top of the first stitch
and fasten off. And I'll need another large spot and 5 more small
spots. For the arms, using my orange I'll make a magic loop and work 2 chain and
then 3 half double crochet into the circle.
I pull the circle tight but don't join. For rows 2 to 5 I work 2 chain
and turn and I work 1 half double crochet into each stitch. So that was for
rows 2 to 5.
For row 6 we work 2 chain and turn. We work 2 half double crochet in the
first stitch and a joined half double crochet over the last 2 stitches. For a
joined half double crochet we put our yarn around our hook, our hook into the
next stitch and bring up a loop, yarn around our hook, hook into the next
stitch and bring up a loop. Yarn around the hook and take it through all the
loops.
For row 7 we work 2 chain and turn and we work 1 half double crochet into each
stitch. For row 8 we work 2 chain and turn. We work 2 half double crochet
into the first stitch
and a joined half double crochet over the following 2 stitches. This is just
making our arm bend in a bit. For row 9 we start with 2 chain and turn. We work
1 half double crochet into each stitch.
For row 10 we work 2 chain and turn. We work 2 half double crochet into our
first stitch and a joined half double crochet over the last 2 stitches. For
row 11 we work 2 chain and turn and we work 1 half double crochet into
each stitch. For row 12 we work 2 chain and turn. We work 2 half double crochet
into our first stitch and a joined half double crochet over the last 2
stitches. For row 13 we work 2 chain and turn and work 1 half double
crochet into each stitch.
For row 14 we work 2 chain and turn and work 2 half double crochet into the
first stitch and a joined half double crochet over the last 2 stitches. For row 15
we work 2 chain and turn and work 1 half double crochet into each stitch. And
for row 16 we work 3 chain and turn and we work a double crochet cluster over all
the stitches. For a double crochet cluster we put our yarn around the hook.
We put our hook into the first stitch and bring up a loop, yarn around and take
it through 2 loops. So we've got 2 loops left on our hook. Then we put our
yarn around, hook into the next stitch and bring up a loop, yarn around our hook
and take it through 2 loops and we've got 3 loops on our hook and then
yarn around the hook into the next stitch, bring up a loop, yarn around and
take it through 2 loops. And then yarn around and take it through all the loops.
Now we're going to work a neatening row of slip stitch right
around the arm. Just at the bend here I work some extra slip stitches and into
the bend here, the inner bend I just join a couple of slip stitches, just pull them
in a bit, just to keep it bending in and for my second arm it's worked the same
but I'll turn it over that way before I work my neatening row. So I just work
a slip stitch into each stitch trying not to pull too tight because it
will pull the arm in. It does pull in a bit anyway.
And then just at this corner I'll work
just some extra.
And where I get to the bend in the arm I
work just a couple of joined slip stitches, just to keep the bend going in
like that. So I'll finish this neatening row and I'll meet you at the end. At the
end of the row I slip stitch into the first stitch and fasten off. And the
other arm is worked the same except I turn it before doing the neatening row. So
that's the arm. For the tip of the tail, using my white I make a magic loop and
work 2 chain and 1 half double crochet into my circle. I pull the circle
tight but I don't join. For row 2 I start with 2 chain and work 1 half
double crochet into the stitch and 1 half double crochet into the top of the
chain.
For row 3 I start with 2 chain and turn. I work 1 half double crochet into each
of the 2 stitches and 1 half double crochet into the top of the chain.
For row 4 I start with 2 chain and turn and I work 1 half double crochet into each
stitch and 1 half double crochet into the top of the chain. And row 5 is worked
the same, 2 chain and turn and work 1 half double crochet into each stitch and
1 half double crochet into the top of the chain. And for row 6 we start
with 2 chain and work 1 half double crochet into each stitch to the end
and fasten off and that's the tip of the tail. Now for the tail piece, using my
orange I start with 9 chain.
I miss the first 2 chain and work 1 half double crochet into each stitch to
the end.
Now for rows 2 to 5 we work 2 chain and turn and work 1 half double
crochet into each stitch to the end. That's rows 2 to 5, 2 chain and
turn and work 1 half double crochet into each stitch to the end. So I'll work to
the end of row 5 and I'll be back. Now I've worked to the end of row 5. For
row 6 we work 2 chain and turn. We work 2 half double crochet into the first
stitch. 1 half double crochet into each stitch to the last 2 stitches
and work a joined half double crochet over the last 2 stitches. For row 7
we work 2 chain and turn and work a joined half double crochet over the
first 2 stitches and work 1 half double crochet into each stitch to the
end.
For row 8 we work 2 chain and turn and we work 1 half double crochet
into each stitch to the last 2 stitches
and work a joined half double crochet over the last 2 stitches. Now we turn
and we're going to do the end bits. So we work 2 chain and work a joined half
double crochet in the same stitch as the chain and the next stitch and fasten off.
Then we join our cotton in the same stitch as the last part of our joined
half double crochet and work 3 chain
and work a joined double crochet over the next 2 stitches and fasten off. And
then we join our cotton into the bottom of our last joined double crochet and we
work 2 chain and work a joined half double crochet into the same stitch as
the chain and the last stitch and fasten off.
And that's the bottom part of the tail done. Now I'll just work another arm, foot,
eye and some more dots and weave in my ends and I'll be back and we'll put it
together. Now here's all the pieces. The first things I'll do is embroider a dot
on each of these 2 eyes and I'll embroider a little mouth, just at the
bottom of the face marking piece. Now the next thing I'll do is stitch the face
marking onto the face there and I'll stitch the body marking on to the body
and I'll attach the dots onto the feet. The big one goes at the bottom, on the
narrow end. Then I attach a small one in the center top and then one each side on
each of the feet. So I'll do that and I'll be back. Now the next thing I'll do
is attach the nose just above the mouth there and the eyes, I squash them in a
bit and then stitch them in just in that little gap there like that. And I'll
attach the feet to the body, they go just at the side there, just as evenly as
you can. And I'll attach the tail to the tip of the tail. It just goes like
that,
that way there. I'll do that and I'll be back.
Now next I'll embroider eyelashes and eyebrows on the face and I'll attach the
arms. They just curl around like that. Now the face is finished and the arms are on.
The last things I do is attach the head to the body and I attach the tail just
in behind the foot there, like that. So I'll do that and I'll be back and show
you the finished fox. And there's the finished fox. If you liked my video
