Improved access to mental health services
for military families
were announced by the Associate Minister of National Defence
and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister
of Veterans Affairs, Sherry Romanado.
As part of our commitment to military families,
I'm pleased to announce we have fully completed
another important Strong, Secure, Engaged commitment.
New and enhanced mental health services and programs
for military families have been introduced
and implemented nationally and internationally.
By means of the Family Information Line,
we have created a new virtual consultation service
that provides access to qualified personnel at any time,
wherever and whenever you need.
This highly practical virtual service
enables you to book confidential sessions
over the telephone or via videoconference.
In addition to this service,
we now offer specialized online resources
if you need further information.
We understand how moving abroad can be stressful.
We also know that points of service
for families of military members in Europe
are an excellent resource for families who live abroad
and who may be experiencing difficulties.

The Royal Canadian Air Force's largest and most complex
international training event of the year,
Exercise MAPLE FLAG,
recently took place in Cold Lake, Alberta.
Nearly 1,200 Canadian Armed Forces members
participated or played supporting roles,
along with 540 personnel from allied nations.
The exercise was an opportunity for participants
to train in an operational environment.
It also offered Royal Canadian Air Force elements
the opportunity to 'Fly in Formation'
with their Canadian and international counterparts.
The exercise included operations
in areas such as command and control,
air-to-air and air-to-surface tactics
and weapons employment.
The exercise owes much of its success
to the existence of the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range,
which features a multitude of targets
and an impressive volume of airspace
that provides an unrestricted training environment.
